It is well known that water has crucial importance for daily lives and maintaining healthy lives. In addition to using it as a beverage in daily life, water is also preferred as a treatment element through various methods. In this study, it is focuses on two neurotransmitters, dopamine (C8H11NO2) and serotonin (C10H12N2O), that affect patients with schizophrenia. Three- dimensional drawings of these two neurotransmitters were realized in the gaussian program. The letters formed by the communication of the molecular structure of these two neurotransmitters with water were examined. The electrostatic conduction mechanism of the synapses was investigated by scrutinizing the changes in their bond angles and bond lengths resulting from the interaction of the molecular structure with water. Geometric optimization of the two neurotransmitter structures was done using the LanL2DZ method and TD-SCF information set in the HF (Hartre-Fock) calculation method of the Gaussian 09W program. It was calculated the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) values and the lowest unoccupied molecular (LUMO) values of the molecules formed after the geometric optimization were carried out. In this two constructs, the data obtained after the water-binding was compared with the data obtained before the water binding in the two structures. Water-induced changes in the environment of neurotransmitters were examined. As the bond lengths between atoms in serotonin increase due to interaction with water, the bond angles between atoms generally increase. On the other hand, the opposite situation is observed in dopamine. As a result of the interaction of water and dopamine, the bond lengths of the atoms in dopamine generally increase while the bond angles between the atoms decrease. Because of effects two neurotransmitters on the functioning of brain chemistry are different dopamine and serotonin neurotransmitters work electrostatically reversibly with each other. While the facilitating effect of a sufficient amount of water on dopamine reactions was around 0.401eV, the facilitating effect of water on serotonin reactions was around 3.214eV. Serotonin according to the results of the study, which interacts with a sufficient amount of water, increases its effectiveness approximately eight times more than dopamine., Suyun hayatımızdaki yeri ve sağlıklı bir yaşam sürmemiz için suyun ne kadar önemli olduğu herkes tarafından kabul gören bir gerçektir. Su günlük hayatta içecek olarak kullanılmasının yanında ayrıca çeşitli yöntemler aracılığıyla tedavi unsuru olarak da tercih edilmektedir. Çalışmamızda şizofreni hastalarına etkiyen iki nörotransmitter, dopamine (C8H11NO2) veserotonin (C10H12N2O) üzerinde duruldu. Moleküller yapıların su ile etkileşmesi ile bağ açılarında ve bağ uzunluklarındaki değişimler irdelenerek sinapsların elektrostatik ileti mekanizması ele alındı. Nörotransmitter iki yapının geometrik optizimazyonu Gaussian 09W programında HF (Hatree- Fock) hesaplama yöntemindeki TD-SCF metod ve LanL2DZ baz seti kullanılarak yapıldı. Geometrik optimizasyon sonucu oluşan moleküllerin en yüksek dolu moleküler orbital (HOMO) ve en düşük boş moleküler orbital (LUMO) değerlerinin hesaplamaları yapıldı. İki yapınında su bağlanmadan önceki verileri ile bağlandıktan sonra elde edilen veriler karşılaştırıldı. nörotransmitterlerin bulunduğu ortamda su kaynaklı meydana gelen değişimler irdelendi. Su ile etkileşim sonucu seratoninde bulunan atomların arasındaki bağ uzunlukları artarken, atomlar arasındaki bağ açıları da genellikle artış göstermektedir. Buna karşın dopaminde tam tersi bir durum gözlenmektedir. Su ile dopaminin etkileşmesi sonucu dopamindeki atomların bağ uzunlukları genellikle artış gösterirken, atomlar arasındaki bağ açıları ise azalış göstermektedir. Dopamin ve seratonin nörotransmitterleri elektrostatik olarak birbirlerine göre tersinir çalışmaktadır. Bu ise iki nörotransmitterin beyin kimyasının işleyişine etkilerinin farklı olduğunu söyleyebiliriz. Yeterli miktarda suyun dopamine ait reaksiyonları kolaylaştırıcı etkisi 0.401eV civarında iken suyun seratonine ait reaksiyonları kolaylaştırıcı etkisi 3.214eV civarında idi. Buradan da görüldüğü üzere yeterli miktarda su ile etkileşime giren seratonin, dopaminden yaklaşık olarak sekiz kat daha fazla etkinliğini arttırdığını bize söylemektedir.

Retroperitoneal sarcomas (RPS) account for approximately 15% of all soft tissue sarcomas (STS) and encompass a heterogeneous group of tumors with limited multimodality treatment options. Surgical resection with negative margins remains the standard primary treatment for patients with localized RPS. In this multicenter study, we aimed to demonstrate the real-world data on factors affecting survival in RPS treated with upfront surgery. We included a total of 197 patients who underwent curative-intent resection of a primary non-metastatic RPS between 2000-2020 at ten experienced medical oncology departments in Turkey. The median follow-up was 33 months. The median age of patients was 53 years, 57.4% of patients were female. Univariate analysis revealed that; tumor size, grade, necrosis, resection margin status, were factors affecting recurrence-free survival (RFS) (p= 0.002, p= 0.044, p= 0,024, p= 0.003 respectively). Age, tumor size, stage, resection margin status were factors affecting overall survival (OS) (p= 0.038, p= 0.001, p= 0.032, p< 0.001, respectively). In multivariate analysis, tumor size and resection margin status were independent factors affecting RFS and OS (all p-values < 0.05). Our study demonstrated that tumor size, and resection margin status were the main factors affecting survival in resected RFS. In comparison, adjuvant chemotherapy (CT), radiotherapy (RT), or multimodality treatment did not show OS and RFS advantages. We believe that advances in the molecular characterization of these tumors might help clinicians to detect the best candidates for adjuvant therapies in RPS.

Afetler (örn. depremler) ve acil durumlar (örn. yangınlar) binalardaki kişilerin güvenliğini tehdit etmekte, yaralanmalara ve ölümlere sebebiyet vermektedirler. Afet ve acil durumların zararlı etkileri ardışık tehlikelerin (örn. deprem sonrası yangınlar) ortaya çıktığı durumlarda daha da tehlikeli bir hal almakta ve afetlerin/acil durumların ardışık tehlikeleri tetiklemesi sık görülmektedir. Bina içindekiler ve acil durum müdahale ekipleri tarafından kullanılabilecek etkin bina içi afet/acil durum yönlendirme yaklaşımları, binalardaki acil durumlar sırasında tahliye ve acil durum müdahale süreçlerini iyileştirerek söz konusu yaralanmaların ve ölümlerin sayısını azaltabilecek mahiyettedir. Bu nedenle, bu araştırma kapsamında, ardışık tehlikeler altındaki yapılar için bir yerel yönlendirme ve hassasiyet analizi sistemi önerilmektedir. Bu yaklaşım, afetler/acil durumlardan etkilenen binalarda, bina sakinlerinin güvenli bölgelere tahliyesi ve acil durum müdahale ekiplerine bina içindeki hassas bölgeler gibi gerekli bina bilgilerinin sağlanması suretiyle ekiplerin yönetilmesi amaçlarıyla kullanılabilecektir. Çalışma kapsamında önerilen sistemde, Yapı Bilgi Modeli araçları, sensörler, en kısa yol algoritmaları ve hassasiyet analizi algoritmalarının bütünleşik olarak kullanılması önerilmektedir.Tez kapsamında yapılan araştırmalar; (1) acil durum müdahalesi ve afet yönetimi sırasında bina içi yönlendirme sistemlerinin gereksinimlerinin belirlenmesi, (2) en kısa yol algoritmalarının acil durum müdahalesi ve afet yönetimi bakış açılarıyla değerlendirilmesi, yorumlanması ve kıyaslanması (3) hassasiyet analizi yaklaşımı önerilmesi, ve (4) gerçek zamanlı bina içi acil durum yönlendirme sistemi önerilmesi aşamalarından oluşmaktadır. Disasters (e.g. earthquakes) and emergencies (e.g. fire) threaten the safety of occupants in the buildings and cause injuries and mortalities. These harmful effects are even more dangerous when secondary hazards (e.g. post-earthquake fires) emerge and it is commonly observed that the disasters/emergencies trigger secondary hazards. An effective indoor emergency guidance and navigation approach for occupants and first responders can decrease the number of injuries and mortalities during building emergencies by improving the evacuation process and response operations. For this reason, this research will propose a model-based guidance and vulnerability assessment approach for facilities that are under the threat of multi-hazard emergencies. The approach can be used to guide occupants from the facility affected by disasters/emergencies to safer zones and to direct the first responders by supplying them necessary building related information such as identified vulnerable locations in the indoor environments. An integrated utilization of Building Information Modeling tools, sensors, shortest path algorithms, and vulnerability assessment algorithms is proposed for the system in this research.The research steps of this thesis include (1) determination of requirements of an indoor navigation during emergency response and disaster management, (2) review, comparison, and evaluation of shortest path algorithms from an emergency response and disaster management point of view, (3) proposing a vulnerability assessment approach, and (4) proposing a real-time indoor emergency guidance and navigation system framework for buildings under the threat of multi-hazard emergencies. The findings of the research can be used in future studies on emergency response and disaster management domains. 141

ÖZETTÜRKİYE’DEKİ ATIKSU ARITMA TESİSLERİNDE ANOKSİK FOSFOR GİDERİMİ YAPABİLEN ORGANİZMALARIN VARLIĞININ İNCELENMESİLaboratuar ölçekli çalışmalarda, fosfor giderebilen denitrifikasyon bakterilerinin varlığından ve anoksik ortamdaki aktivitelerinden bugüne kadar yapılmış birçok çalışmada bahsedilmiştir. Anoksik fosfor giderebilen organizmalar, aerobik fosfor giderimini sağlayan organizmalarla benzer karakteristiğe ve giderim kapasitesine sahiptir. Ancak fosfor giderebilen denitrifikasyon bakterileri, fosfor giderimine önemli avantajlar getirmektedir. Bu avantajlar, havalandırma için gerekli enerjiden tasarruf, denitrifikasyon için gerekli karbonun verimli kullanılması ve çamur üretiminin daha düşük olmasıdır.Bu çalışma ile Paşaköy İleri Biyolojik Atıksu Arıtma Tesisi ve Kayseri Atıksu Arıtma Tesisi’ne ait çamurlarla kesikli deneyler gerçekleştirilmiş ve fosfor giderebilen denitrifikasyon bakterilerinin varlığı ile fosfor giderimine katkıları araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca Paşaköy çamuru ile fosfor giderebilen denitrifikasyon bakterilerinin zenginleştirildiği anaerobik/anoksik/aerobik ardışık kesikli reaktör (SBR) işletilerek kesikli deneyler ile SBR sistemi karşılaştırılmıştır. Kesikli deneylerdeki fosfat salınımı SBR sistemindeki ile kıyaslandığında Paşaköy çamurunda fosfor gideren bakteriler 4 farklı periyot için sırasıyla 10-15%, 50-55%, 35-40%, 30-35% olarak bulunmuştur. Ayrıca fosfor giderebilen denitrifikasyon organizmalarının fosfor gideren toplam organizmalara oranı (qPa/qPo), Paşaköy çamurunda 4 farklı periyot için sırasıyla yaklaşık 58%, 91%, 54%, 57% ve Kayseri çamurunda 3 farklı periyot için sırasıyla yaklaşık 26%, 48%, 27% olarak hesaplanmıştır. Anoksik ortamda giderilen fosforun kullanılan nitrat elektronuna oranı (P/e-), Paşaköy çamuru için 0.05-0.13 mol-P/mol e- ve Kayseri çamuru için 0.05-0.09 mol-P/mol e- bulunmuştur. İki tesisin sonuçları, Paşaköy çamurunda fosfor giderebilen denitrifikasyon bakterilerinin daha fazla olduğunu göstermektedir.ABSTRACTINVESTIGATION OF EXISTENCE OF DENITRIFYING PHOSPHATE ACCUMULATING ORGANISMS AT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS IN TURKEYThe occurrence of denitrifying phosphate accumulating organism (DPAO) has been clearly demonstrated in laboratory scale studies. It has been shown that phosphorus removal by DPAO has similar capacities and characteristics as phosphorus removal in anaerobic-aerobic processes. However, applying DPAO has significant advantages which are the saving of energy for aeration, reduction of carbon demand and a lower sludge production in the overall phosphorus and nitrogen removal processes.In this study, the existence of DPAOs and the contribution of DPAOs to phosphorus removal in full-scale wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) have been investigated by batch tests with the activated sludge that was taken from Paşaköy and Kayseri WWTPs. In addition, an anaerobic/anoxic/aerobic sequencing batch reactor (SBR) seeded with Paşaköy sludge for the enrichment of the PAOs was operated. The dephosphatation activities in specific batch experiments with Paşaköy sludge were compared with the dephosphatation activity in the SBR system that indicated approximately 10-15%, 50-55%, 35-40%, 30-35% of MLVSS were phosphorus removing organisms in the Paşaköy WWTP sludge for periods I, II, III and IV respectively. The ratio of DPAOs to the total of denitrifying and aerobic phosphorus removing organisms (qPa/qPo) was approximately calculated as 58%, 91%, 54%, 57% for periods I, II, III and IV respectively in Paşaköy sludge and 26%, 48%, 27% for periods I, II and III respectively in Kayseri sludge. The ratio of removed phosphorus to the utilized nitrate-electron (P/e-) was in the range of 0.05 to 0.09 mol-P/mol e- for the Kayseri WWTP sludge whereas, it was between 0.05 and 0.13 mol-P/mol e- for the Paşaköy sludge. The difference on the P/e- ratio between Paşaköy and Kayseri WWTP indicates that DPAOs were much higher in Paşaköy WWTP.

To query these different, complex and also huge volumes of data in anefficient way, some spatial indexing methods are urgent. Common standards ondata types and representations have been defined by the Open GeospatialConsortium (OGC), but nothing about spatial indexing has occurred yet precisely.In the concept of the research project named Evliya Çelebi GeographicInformation Core, funded by TUBITAK under the code SOBAG-105K040, generalobjective is to study spatial indexing methods and to compare their performances.Three spatial indexing methods examined are: R-tree, STR-tree and MX-CIFQuadtree. Data sets are generated synthetically by Gaussian and uniformdistributions, and Bezier curves. Window queries are applied in test scenarios.To conclude, we can say that STR-tree has the best results. Because of itsinternal structure and definition, STR-tree targets static data sets. If dynamic datainsertions and deletions occur frequently, reorganization is urgent.
