Abstract

Porté par les industries agroalimentaires, le système alimentaire dominant actuellement n’est pas durable. Les études et les expertises se multiplient pour en montrer les limites en termes d’usage des ressources, de distanciation, de santé, d’équité, d’emploi etc… Face à ces constats, des acteurs publics ou privés se mobilisent et l’on voit émerger des initiatives où les « gouvernements urbains » apparaissent comme de plus en plus actifs et puissants. Écrit par un collectif de chercheurs, cet ouvrage décrit les cadres conceptuels existants pour une démarche d’analyse des politiques alimentaires urbaines, au croisement des concepts de système alimentaire et de ville durable. Il constitue une base de travail pour identifier des questions de recherche, en relation avec les initiatives des gouvernements locaux urbains, au Nord et au Sud. Il est issu des travaux menés au sein d’Agropolis International dans le cadre du programme Surfood (Sustainable urban food systems) ainsi que d’une recherche-action menée en appui à Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole pour la construction de sa politique agroécologique et alimentaire. Les auteurs s’adressent aux scientifiques et aux experts qui analysent et accompagnent les politiques alimentaires urbaines. Les experts de politiques locales dans leur globalité trouveront également un intérêt à la lecture de l’ouvrage.

67. Can We Fight EU-Racism in Football?: A Cross-Cultural Study

Abstract

The current study aims to examine the phenomenon of racism in football. The researchers collected data from people of all ages in the countries of Italy, Romania, Greece, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, and a number of experts from other countries as well. Data were analysed and studied through the use of descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The findings suggest that racist incidences in football are very frequent. Furthermore, it was observed that social-demographic variables seem to affect people’s propensity to racism and usually the respondents believe that racist acts are performed mainly due to lack of education, out of fear and due to general social unrest. Finally, a thorough discussion and conclusions are given for the improvement of regulations at a European level to tackle the incidents of racism abuse in the sphere of soccer.

85. Water resource management through systemic approach: The case of Lake Bracciano.

Abstract

Today natural water resources are becoming scarce, both due to global climate change but also due to irresponsible behaviour of human beings. Lakes are among the most delicate aquatic systems due to their limited size. The objective of this paper is to propose a System Dynamics model, employed in a real case study regarding the city of Rome and one of its water reserves, the Bracciano Lake, for the evaluation of different strategies and policies to reduce environmental impacts, considering different climatic and context scenarios. The results indicate that, as the system is currently exposed to a high risk of ecological disaster, the situation might worsen, and the disaster effectively happen. Simulation models may help agencies and administrations to explore policies and find solutions to address this fundamental problem, that may become even worst over the next years, given the potential severe consequences deriving from the current global warming trends. Abstract

This paper discusses how a complex-systems perspective can shed light on the analysis of complex food-systems meeting urban food needs. The common features between complex systems and Food Supply and Distribution Systems (FSDS) are explored. A brief review of the major approaches - agent-based models (ABM), social network analysis (SNA), and system dynamics (SD) - is developed in order to make an assessment on the analysis performance of different complex system methodologies while dealing with FSDS. After sifting out the most suitable methodology for the study of FSDS, a system archetype analysis of the FSDS dynamics is elicited from the methodological guide of FAO, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. To finalize, three basic points for the analysis of FSDS obtained from the current research are explained. 100. Instigators and Victims of Racism Abuse in Football: Are the Same, Different, or What?

Abstract

The current research provides a mapping of the most important instigators and victims of racism abuse in football. Based on the literature review findings, it is observed that in sports, there exists an upward trend of racism incidents among different stakeholders on a daily basis, from the administrative workforce and distinct policy makers to athletes and fans. In order to investigate this trend, data was collected through the implementation of a specific project, called “BRISWA,” which is an EU-funded project that deals with the problem of racism in football and in sports in general (funded by the Erasmus+ Programme - Sport Collaborative Partnership). The survey was conducted in the field of football in six countries, Italy, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Hungary, and Bulgaria. The survey took place from August 2017 to January 2018. Our sample included people of all ages (n = 672). Data was analyzed through a combination of exploratory factor analysis and multi-criteria decision analysis. We have modeled the two distinct constructs, by running principal component analysis and then on the ranked data followed the results of the multi-criteria decision aid analysis with the Promethee software. A thorough discussion and conclusions are given for the improvement of regulations at a European level, to tackle the incidents of racism abuse in the sphere of football.
