ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the evidence regarding the effectiveness of interventions aimed at strengthening self-efficacy beliefs in college students. Methods: Integrative Review conducted on the Lilacs, PubMed, CinahL, Cochrane Collaboration Databases, Scopus, and PsycInfo databases. The methodological quality of the studies was assessed using tools proposed by the Joanna Briggs Institute, and the results were analyzed descriptively. Results: Out of the 10 selected studies, six demonstrated that interventions aimed at strengthening self-efficacy were effective (Levels of Evidence II and III), and four revealed contrary results (Levels of Evidence I and II). Programs aimed at enhancing self-efficacy should include content on positive mental health, psychoeducation strategies, cover a period of eight to twelve weeks, and consider the completion of homework assignments. Conclusion: The synthesis of evidence pointed to pathways for building an effective self-efficacy strengthening program to be implemented in universities.

O estudo apresentado neste artigo investigou o contexto em que se dá o trabalho de entregadores via aplicativos, levando em consideração problemas agravados pela pandemia de covid-19, tais como: o fato de ser realizado na rua, o sucateamento de direitos trabalhistas e sua precarização com o fenômeno de uberização. Os resultados apontam impactos negativos na saúde biopsicossocial desses entregadores, evidenciando uma queda da remuneração e uma maior exposição ao vírus. Dentre os impactos, destacamse o aumento de processos psicopatológicos, além do medo em relação à iminente possibilidade de contrair coronavírus e contaminar sua rede de apoio social. Desta maneira, conclui-se que a pandemia de covid-19, aliada a políticas de sucateamento dos direitos trabalhistas influenciam diretamente a saúde biopsicossocial desses trabalhadores, empurrando-os para a margem do trabalho formal e potencializando o processo de uberização relacionado a esse modelo de trabalho informal.

Este artigo pretende analisar o tema do sofrimento na obra do filósofo alemão Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) e do criador da Logoterapia, o psiquiatra austríaco Viktor Frankl (1905-1997), buscando convergências e pontos afins no olhar desses dois autores sobre o sentido do sofrimento. Este trabalho de pesquisa bibliográfica e reflexão filosófica busca, a partir dos conceitos de “amor fati” e “sentido da vida”, compreender o sofrimento não como um entrave, porém como mecanismo de elevação do ser e superação de si. Fundamentamos este artigo nos estudos inseridos no âmbito do conceito do “amor fati” na filosofia nietzschiana a partir das obras de Nietzsche (2010; 2012; 2020a; 2020b; 2020c; 2021). Quanto ao estudo do “sentido da vida”, partiremos dos conceitos teóricos da Logoterapia fundamentados nas obras de Frankl (2019; 2021a; 2021b).

O futebol é o esporte que figura como o mais popular, que possui maior audiência, e a maior movimentação financeira, por isto, passou a ser considerado negócio, do ramo de entretenimento com forte apelo comercial. Devido a altas cifras envolvidas em negociação de jogadores, a formação de atletas representa um dos ativos mais lucrativos dos clubes. O Brasil por ser a nação mais bem sucedida no futebol, tem um trabalho forte de formação de atletas, que é cercado de profissionais multidisciplinares que contribuem diretamente com a qualidade da formação de um atleta. Portanto, o objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a existência de correlação, causas e efeitos entre investimento financeiro e performance esportiva de três clubes do Rio de Janeiro. Observando se a formação do atleta é mais lucrativa que a contratação de atletas profissionais pela ótica da performance desportiva em competição. Foi realizado uma pesquisa documental em demonstrações financeiras disponibilizada pelos clubes entre 2010 e 2021 em acesso público em seus websites. Foram selecionadas variáveis de despesas e receitas do departamento de formação de atletas, que foram submetidas a análises estatísticas inferenciais de normalidade, variância, correlação e efeito. Os resultados mostraram que existe correlação entre o investimento financeiro e o resultado desportivo, indicando que a formação de atletas é mais eficiente do que a contratação de atletas profissionais. Não houve efeito do investimento financeiro sobre o resultado desportivo dos clubes. Conclui-se que as equipes do Fluminense obtiveram o melhor resultado financeiro-desportivo em relação aos demais clubes analisados.

Hybrid cachapinta (Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum × Pseudoplatystoma corruscans) has been a very popular fish and is well accepted by consumers internationally, however, there is a lack of information showing its advantages relative to its parental cachara (P. reticulatum) species. This study was undertaken to compare the processing yield and meat quality characteristics of cachara and the cachapinta hybrid raised in net cages. Cachara’s weight was 1.51 ± 0.27 kg and total length was 49.85 ± 6.22 cm at harvest and was not significantly different from hybrid cachapinta that weighed 1.50 ± 0.11 kg and measured 50.83 ± 3.91 cm. Additionally, the two groups were not statistically different on gutted fish dress out (cachara: 89.97 ± 1.28%; cachapinta: 90.23 ± 0.30%) and other processing yield parameters. Skinless shank fillets with an average weight of 503.77 ± 0.10 g (cachara) and 514.41 ± 0.04 g, (hybrid cachapinta) were evaluated for pH, water holding capacity, colour (L*, a*, b*), shear force and lipid oxidation (TBARS). There were no differences in the fillet meat quality between cachara and hybrid cachapinta tested in this study. In conclusion, both genetic groups had similar processing yield and fillet meat quality characteristics when produced in net cages. HIGHLIGHTS The perceived improvements in growth and disease-resistance generated by hybrid vigour are the main reasons for interest and use of hybrid fishes. It is difficult to systematically predict processing yield and meat quality obtained from hybrids. Processing yields and meat quality are similar for cachara and hybrid cachapinta produced in net cages.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the concept associated with diagnostic proposition Ocular dryness in adult patients hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit, identifying its attributes, antecedents and consequences. Methods: a methodological study carried out through concept analysis, operationalized by scoping review. Results: the analysis of 180 studies allowed the identification of two attributes, 32 antecedents and 12 consequences. The attributes were tear film deficiency and ocular signs and/or symptoms. The prevalent antecedents were incomplete eyelid closure (lagophthalmos) and blinking mechanism decrease. Major consequences included conjunctival hyperemia and decreased tear volume. Conclusions: this study allowed constructing nursing diagnosis Ocular dryness, part of domain 11, class 2, with 12 defining characteristics, 12 related factors, seven populations at risk and 13 associated conditions. This problem-focused proposal may provide targeted care by promoting early detection and implementing interventions that reduce the risk of ocular damage.

Objetivo: descrever as percepções e vivências de docentes da graduação de enfermagem sobre o ensino de segurança do paciente. Método: estudo transversal, descritivo, quali quantitativo, realizado com professores de enfermagem de uma universidade federal, realizado de setembro a novembro de 2018. Os dados foram coletados através de um formulário eletrônico e processados de forma descritiva simples com auxílio do software Interface de R pour Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionneires. Resultados: a amostra foi composta por 21 docentes e emergiram três classes: primeiros passos e estímulos para o ensino de segurança do paciente no curso de enfermagem (42,5%), ações realizadas em prol do ensino de segurança do paciente na graduação (26,4%) e agentes promotores de mudanças no ensino de segurança do paciente na graduação de enfermagem (31,1%). Conclusão: os docentes reconheceram a segurança do paciente como um tema transversal e importante no processo formativo, mas com pouca expressividade na instituição. Descritores: Enfermagem. There is a growing interest in exploring new natural sources of colorants. This study aimed to extract anthocyanins from broken black bean hulls (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) by modifying water with a eutectic mixture (choline chloride:citric acid (ChCl:Ca)). Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) was employed and optimized in terms of temperature (30–70 °C), ultrasound power (150–450 W), and eutectic mixture concentration in water (1–9% (w/v)), resulting in an optimal condition of 66 °C, 420 W, and 8.2% (w/v), respectively. The main quantified anthocyanins were delphinidin-3-O-glycoside, petunidin-3-O-glycoside, and malvidin-3-O-glycoside. The half-life of the anthocyanins at 60 °C increased twelvefold in the eutectic mixture extract compared to the control, and when exposed to light, the half-life was 10 times longer, indicating greater resistance of anthocyanins in the extracted eutectic mixture. Additionally, the extracts were concentrated through centrifuge-assisted cryoconcentration, with the initial cycle almost double the extract value, making this result more favorable regarding green metrics. The first concentration cycle, which showed vibrant colors of anthocyanins, was selected to analyze the color change at different pH levels. In general, the technology that uses eutectic mixtures as water modifiers followed by cryoconcentration proved to be efficient for use as indicators in packaging, both in quantity and quality of anthocyanins.

Abstract Background The development of multidrug resistance (MDR) associated with the overexpression of the efflux transporters Mdr1 and Cdr1 in Candida species impedes antifungal therapies. The urgent need for novel agents able to inhibit the function of both pumps, led us to evaluate this property in 137 extracts obtained from Argentinian plants. Methods The ability of the extracts to reverse efflux pump-mediated MDR was determined with an agar chemosensitization assay using fluconazole (FCZ) resistant Mdr1- and Cdr1-overexpressing clinical isolates of Candida albicans and Candida glabrata as well as Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains selectively expressing Mdr1 (AD/CaMDR1) or Cdr1 (AD/CaCDR1). The resistance-reversing activity of the most potent extracts was further confirmed using a Nile Red accumulation assay. Results Fifteen plant extracts overcame the FCZ resistance of Candida albicans 1114, which overexpresses CaMdr1 and CaCdr1, and AD/CaMDR1, with those from Acalypha communis and Solanum atriplicifolium being the most effective showing 4- to 16-fold reversal of resistance at concentrations ≥ 25 µg/mL. Both extracts, and to a lesser extent that from Pterocaulon alopecuroides, also restored FCZ sensitivity in CgCdr1-overexpressing C. glabrata 109 and in AD/CaCDR1 with fold reversal values ranging from 4 to 32 and therefore demonstrating a dual effect against Mdr1 and Cdr1. Both, A. communis and S. atriplicifolium extracts at concentrations ≥ 12.5 and ≥ 25 µg/mL, respectively, increased the intracellular Nile Red accumulation in all yeast strains overexpressing efflux pumps. Conclusions The non-toxic and highly active extracts from A. communis and S. atripicifolium, provide promising sources of compounds for potentiating the antifungal effect of FCZ by blocking the efflux function of Mdr1 and Cdr1 transporters.

Resumo As pesquisas na área de espanhol para fins específicos no Brasil ganharam maior notoriedade no âmbito acadêmico a partir dos anos 2000. Historicamente, a maior profusão de estudos, desde o começo do Projeto Nacional que demarcou o surgimento da área de línguas para fins específicos, abarcou estudos teóricos e de contextos profissionais e acadêmicos que se relacionavam ao ensino das línguas inglesa, francesa e portuguesa, primordialmente. Diante da carência e do desenvolvimento tardio de investigações que articulassem o ensino de espanhol e a área de fins específicos, traçamos como objetivo para este artigo o mapeamento de estudos acadêmicos desenvolvidos na esfera dos programas de pós-graduação do Brasil e de como esses trabalhos ilustram os caminhos, as perspectivas teóricas e os desafios para esse campo científico.

The growing global population has led to increased food consumption and a significant amount of food waste, including the non-consumed parts of fruits (e.g., stems, rinds, peels, seeds). Despite their nutrient richness, these by-products are often discarded. With the rising interest in nutrient-dense foods for health benefits, fruit by-products have potential as nutritious ingredients. Upcycling, which repurposes waste materials, is one solution. White flour, which is common in food products like bread and pasta, has good functional properties but poor nutritional value. This can be enhanced by blending white flour with fruit by-product flours, creating functional, nutrient-rich mixtures. This review explores using flours from common Brazilian fruit by-products (e.g., jaboticaba, avocado, guava, mango, banana, jackfruit, orange, pineapple, and passion fruit) and their nutritional, physical–chemical properties, quality and safety, and applications. Partially replacing wheat flour with fruit flour improves its nutritional value, increasing the amount of fiber, protein, and carbohydrates present in it. However, higher substitution levels can alter color and flavor, impacting the sensory appeal and acceptability. While studies showed the potential of fruit by-product flours in food formulation, there is limited research on their long-term health impacts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Water limitations often cause plants' physiological, biochemical and morphological disorders, restricting their growth and performance and negatively impacting agricultural yield and global food security. Dopamine (DOP) is an essential water-soluble antioxidant, representing an exciting alternative for use in agriculture, as it maximises plant tolerance under adverse stress conditions. The 24-epibrassionolide (EBR) has the most bioactive function on plant metabolomics, being biodegradable and environmentally friendly. EBR can promote plant tolerance under stress conditions, including water deficiency. Therefore, this study aimed to verify the possible contributions of pre-treatment with DOP and EBR in soybean seedlings subjected to water deficiency, evaluating the responses linked to root anatomy, germination, antioxidant system and biomass accumulation. The single and combined use of growth regulators (DOP and EBR) mitigated the harmful effects caused by water deficiency in seedlings. However, the single use of DOP under the conditions of this research had better results. DOP and EBR positively affected root anatomy, modulating plastic changes in the epidermis tissues, metaxylem and vascular cylinder tissues. Increments in biomass and growth of seedlings exposed to drought and treated with growth regulators can be explained by the intense activities of antioxidant enzymes, maximising redox metabolism and protecting root tissues from oxidative damage. Objetivo: avaliar os fatores clínicos preditores para o ressecamento ocular e para o diagnóstico de enfermagem Risco de ressecamento ocular em pacientes no pós-operatório em Unidade de Recuperação Pós-Anestésica. Método: estudo transversal realizado entre maio e agosto de 2017. Amostra foi de 157 pacientes adultos submetidos a procedimentos cirúrgicos eletivos. Os dados foram analisados mediante estatística descritiva e inferencial. Resultados: o diagnóstico clínico de ressecamento ocular prevaleceu em 85,35% dos pacientes, e o diagnóstico de enfermagem Risco de ressecamento ocular em 14,65%. Observou-se diferenças estatísticas entre a hiperemia, lacrimejamento excessivo e teste de Schirmer insuficiente com o diagnóstico de ressecamento ocular no olho direito e com o diagnóstico Risco de ressecamento ocular. No olho esquerdo o teste de Schirmer foi insuficiente. Conclusão: a hiperemia, o lacrimejamento excessivo e o teste de Schirmer insuficiente são fatores clínicos preditores relevantes no perioperatório para promover medidas preventivas e/ou detectar precocemente o ressecamento ocular. Enquadramento: As atitudes estigmatizantes dos estudantes de enfermagem perante a pessoa com doença mental podem influenciar as suas aprendizagens e o desenvolvimento de competências, comprometendo a prestação de cuidados como futuros enfermeiros. Objetivos: Conhecer as atitudes dos estudantes de enfermagem perante a pessoa com doença mental e verificar a correlação existente entre a frequência às unidades curriculares de Saúde Mental e Psiquiatria e as suas atitudes perante a pessoa com doença mental. Metodologia: Estudo quantitativo, descritivo-correlacional. Amostra de conveniência com 47 estudantes do curso de licenciatura em enfermagem de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior da região norte de Portugal. Dados colhidos através de questionário on-line, constituído pelo Attribution Questionaire (AQ-27) (Sousa et al., 2008). Recorreu-se à análise estatística descritiva e inferencial, através do Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (versão 26). Resultados: Verificou-se a presença de estigma moderado. Observaram-se diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre o semestre do curso sobre as categorias Irritação [X2 (3) =14,416; P=0,002], Perigosidade [X2 (3) =11,650; P=0,009] e Medo [X2 (3) =12,523; P=0,006] e Pena [F (3,43) = 5,471; P=0,003]. Conclusão: O ensino teórico e prático revelou diminuição de atitudes estigmatizantes, bem como a experiência prévia em Saúde Mental. A familiaridade apenas influenciou a categoria Irritação.

Coaches and psychologists can use time-motion analysis to elaborate specific interventions for female BJJ athletes, increasing specific training context and reducing unnecessary psychological and physical demands and injuries. Therefore, the present study aimed to analyze high-level BJJ female athletes in the 2020 Pan-American Games by comparing the weight categories on the time-motion analysis. The time-motion analysis (i.e., approach, gripping, attack, defensive actions, transition, mounting, guard, side control, and submissions) of 422 high-level female BJJ combats was divided and compared by weight category as follows: Rooster (n = 8), Light Feather (n = 18), Feather (n = 122), Light (n = 84), Middle (n = 74), Medium Heavy (n = 44), Heavy (n = 36), Super Heavy (n = 36), using p ≤ 0.05. The main results indicated that the Super heavyweight category [3.1 (5.8;119.9) s] had a shorter gripping time than other weight categories, p ≤ 0.05. In contrast, roosters [7.2 (3.5;64.6) s] had longer gripping, transition [14.0 (4.8;29.6) s], and attack time [76.2 (27.7, 93.2)] than the light feather, middlers, and heavier weight categories, p ≤ 0.05. These findings should be considered for the psychological interventions and training prescription.

La investigación artística basada en significantes (IABS) es una metodología que ideé para darle sentido y coherencia a la forma de escritura de mi tesis doctoral. Supone dar media vuelta a la investigación artística basada en la práctica, en la que esta es el propio proceso y resultado de la escritura académica. Consiste en prestar mucha atención y jugar con los significantes –letras, siglas, trozos de palabras, miniaturas, fonemas, fallos de traducción automática o indexaciones en motores de búsqueda– para insinuar nuevos significados. Implica una decodificación performativa y aberrante de la aceleración semiocapitalista, pues, en ocasiones, imita sus lógicas, pero, a la vez, las señala y las cuestiona. La IABS solapa lo teórico y lo práctico y se camufla en la ortodoxia de la academia para hacer brillar sus imposibilidades, ya que habitualmente trabaja a partir de erratas, malentendidos o coincidencias azarosas –apofénicas–. Como un fractal, es capaz de influir a un pie de figura, a una frase, a un párrafo, a todo un capítulo, a un documento completo o a la fisicidad de una instalación en sala o de una performance. En definitiva, la IABS plantea las posibilidades artísticas de lo que ocurre dentro de un procesador de texto, mirando de reojo las diez pestañas abiertas del navegador. Como apunte final, el texto propone una breve reflexión crítica sobre las dinámicas establecidas en las plataformas digitales del capitalismo académico, basadas en el correo spam o en la sobreinformación de la indexación de papers al por mayor.

Scedosporium and Lomentospora species are opportunistic filamentous fungi that cause localized and disseminated infections in immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients. These species are considered resistant fungi due to their low susceptibility to most current antifungal agents used in healthcare settings. The search for new compounds that could work as promising candidate antifungal drugs is an increasing field of interest. In this context, in the present study we screened the Pandemic Response Box® library (Medicines for Malaria Venture [MMV], Switzerland) to identify compounds with antifungal activity against Scedosporium and Lomentospora species. An initial screening of the drugs from this collection at 5 μM was performed using a clinical Scedosporium aurantiacum isolate according to the EUCAST protocol. Compounds with activity against this fungus were also tested against four other species (S. boydii¸ S. dehoogii, S. apiospermum and L. prolificans) at concentrations ranging from 0.078 to 10 μM. Seven compounds inhibited more than 80% of S. aurantiacum growth, three of them (alexidine, amorolfine and olorofim) were selected due to their differences in mechanism of action, especially when compared to drugs from the azole class. These compounds were more active against biofilm formation than against preformed biofilm in Scedosporium and Lomentospora species, except alexidine, which was able to decrease preformed biofilm about 50%. Analysis of the potential synergism of these compounds with voriconazole and caspofungin was performed by the checkerboard method for S. aurantiacum. The analysis by Bliss methodology revealed synergistic effects among selected drugs with caspofungin. When these drugs were combined with voriconazole, only alexidine and amorolfine showed a synergistic effect, whereas olorofim showed an antagonistic effect. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that alexidine induces morphology alterations in S. aurantiacum biofilm grown on a catheter surface. Reactive oxygen species production, mitochondrial activity and surface components were analyzed by fluorescent probes when S. aurantiacum was treated with selected drugs and revealed that some cell parameters are altered by these compounds. In conclusion, alexidine, amorolfine and olorofim were identified as promising compounds to be studied against scedosporiosis and lomentosporiosis.

Our mainstream mobility thinking is narrowly framed: it highlights the role of mobility in economic and urban growth, individual speed and system efficiency, but obscures its role in reproducing inequalities, and in driving unsustainable developments on a global scale. Critically, however, this narrative obscures our view on the increasingly problematic societal and environmental ‘externalities’ of mobility, such as its significant contribution to climate change, air pollution, social exclusion, deaths and injuries, public health issues and landscape degradation. With such high stakes for our common mobility futures, how can we identify seeds of emerging alternatives, nurture and amplify their potential impact and empower emerging alternative futures?

Candida species are one of the most concerning causative agents of fungal infections in humans. The treatment of invasive Candida infections is based on the use of fluconazole, but the emergence of resistant isolates has been an increasing concern which has led to the study of alternative drugs with antifungal activity. Sphingolipids have been considered a promising target due to their roles in fungal growth and virulence. Inhibitors of the sphingolipid biosynthetic pathway have been described to display antifungal properties, such as myriocin and aureobasidin A, which are active against resistant Candida isolates. In the present study, aureobasidin A did not display antibiofilm activity nor synergism with amphotericin B, but its combination with fluconazole was effective against Candida biofilms and protected the host in an in vivo infection model. Alterations in treated cells revealed increased oxidative stress, reduced mitochondrial membrane potential and chitin content, as well as altered morphology, enhanced DNA leakage and a greater susceptibility to sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS). In addition, it seems to inhibit the efflux pump CaCdr2p. All these data contribute to elucidating the role of aureobasidin A on fungal cells, especially evidencing its promising use in clinical resistant isolates of Candida species.

Selecting drought-tolerant and more water-efficient wheat genotypes is a research priority, specifically in regions with irregular rainfall or areas where climate change is expected to result in reduced water availability. The objective of this work was to use high-throughput measurements with morphophysiological traits to characterize wheat genotypes in relation to water stress. Field experiments were conducted from May to September 2018 and 2019, using a sprinkler bar irrigation system to control water availability to eighteen wheat genotypes: BRS 254; BRS 264; CPAC 01019; CPAC 01047; CPAC 07258; CPAC 08318; CPAC 9110; BRS 394 (irrigated biotypes), and Aliança; BR 18_Terena; BRS 404; MGS Brilhante; PF 020037; PF 020062; PF 120337; PF 100368; PF 080492; and TBIO Sintonia (rainfed biotypes). The water regimes varied from 22 to 100% of the crop evapotranspiration replacement. Water stress negatively affected gas exchange, vegetation indices, and grain yield. High throughput variables TCARI, NDVI, OSAVI, SAVI, PRI, NDRE, and GNDVI had higher yield and morphophysiological measurement correlations. The drought resistance index indicated that genotypes Aliança, BRS 254, BRS 404, CPAC 01019, PF 020062, and PF 080492 were more drought tolerant.

Background: The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic significantly affected management of cardiovascular disease around the world. The effect of the pandemic on volume of cardiovascular diagnostic procedures is not known. Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the effects of the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic on cardiovascular diagnostic procedures and safety practices in Asia. Methods: The International Atomic Energy Agency conducted a worldwide survey to assess changes in cardiovascular procedure volume and safety practices caused by COVID-19. Testing volumes were reported for March 2020 and April 2020 and were compared to those from March 2019. Data from 180 centers across 33 Asian countries were grouped into 4 subregions for comparison. Results: Procedure volumes decreased by 47% from March 2019 to March 2020, showing recovery from March 2020 to April 2020 in Eastern Asia, particularly in China. The majority of centers cancelled outpatient activities and increased time per study. Practice changes included implementing physical distancing and restricting visitors. Although COVID testing was not commonly performed, it was conducted in one-third of facilities in Eastern Asia. The most severe reductions in procedure volumes were observed in lower-income countries, where volumes decreased 81% from March 2019 to April 2020. Conclusions: The COVID-19 pandemic in Asia caused significant reductions in cardiovascular diagnostic procedures, particularly in low-income countries.
