Endometriosis impairs the quality of life (QoL) of many women, including their social relationships, daily activity, productivity at work, and family planning. The aim of this review was to determine the instruments used to examine QoL in previous clinical studies of endometriosis and to evaluate the effect of medical and surgical interventions for endometriosis on QoL. We conducted a systematic search and review of studies published between January 2010 and December 2020 using MEDLINE. Search terms included "endometriosis" and "quality of life." We only selected studies that used a standardized questionnaire to evaluate QoL before and after medical or surgical interventions. Only articles in the English language were examined. The initial search identified 720 results. After excluding duplicates and applying inclusion criteria, 37 studies were selected for analysis. We found that the two scales most frequently used to measure QoL were the Short Form-36 health survey questionnaire (SF-36) and the Endometriosis Health Profile-30 (EHP-30). Many medical and surgical treatments demonstrated comparable benefits in pain control and QoL improvement. There is no clear answer as to what is the best treatment for improving QoL because each therapy must be personalized for the patient and depends on the woman's goals. This study aims to make a preliminary evaluation of the psychometric features of the Italian version of the Love Attitudes Scale: Short Form (LAS; Hendrick, Hendrick & Dicke, 1998), which is one of the most commonly used measurements of love in literature. Our results confirmed the six-factor structure and its convergent validity with several affective dimensions (e.g., intimacy, fear of intimacy, sexuality, relational talk) in couple relationships and marital satisfaction (dyadic and familial). For discriminant validity, there were gender differences in several love styles. Our findings indicated that this tool might be useful in both scientific and clinical contexts when used in the Italian framework. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives:We evaluated sexual function, quality of life and perceived body image of women with deep endometriosis in comparison to that of healthy women.Methods:The sample consisted of 41 women with deep endometriosis and 40 healthy women without endometriosis. Sexual, psychological and pain evaluation were performed.Results:The study evidenced that deep endometriosis has a significant impact on sexuality and body image.Conclusions:An integrated and patient-centered approach to medical and psychological and sexual issues is suggested. The main purpose of current research was to investigate the impact of self-rated metacognitive measures and depressive symptoms in predicting psychological well-being in different aged healthy adults. A further goal was to explore the effect of genre and age on metacognition and depression scores. Ninety-six healthy adults were, respectively, assigned to young (i.e., 20–30 years), old (i.e., 65–74 years), very old (i.e., 75–84 years), and oldest old (i.e., >85 years) groups. Participants were administered self-referent social desirability, cognitive efficiency, subjective wellness, and psychological distress questionnaires. It was found that social desirability, depression, cognitive functioning, and metamnestic scores represent the best predictors of well-being. Moreover, a significant main effect of age and genre was found on measures of depression and metamemory. Finally, personal satisfaction, coping strategies, emotional control, and general well-being levels of the very old group did not reach critical cutoff for the Italian octogenarian population. Background: Changes in social and behavioral rhythms (SBR) in the elderly are related to health status. Nevertheless, there is no data on factor analysis of the Brief Social Rhythm Scale (BSRS) an internationally well-known tool in this field. The aim was to analyze, in the elderly, the factorial structure of the Italian version of BSRS.  Design and methods: Principal Component Analysis of the BSRS carried out in elderly living at home., Results: Sample of 141 participants (83 Females, 58,9%), aged 72.3±4.8. All the items of the questionnaire were related and could compose a single factor, explaining 56% of variance. A solution adopting two factors, the first (including items 1,2,3,4,9,10), the second (including items 5,6,7,8), covered cumulatively 78.8% of the variance., Conclusions: The study confirms that the BSRS is consistent with the idea for which it was built and can be useful for the study of the regularity of SBR in old adults.
