The climate is described by the predominant atmospheric conditions in a particular region and influences several human activities. In agriculture, water availability defines the growth and yield of crops and can be obtained by the water balance. The climate classification also aids to identify suitable areas for agricultural crops. Thus, the aim of this work was to elaborate the water balance and perform the climate classification through the method of Thornthwaite and Mather (1955) for six weather stations (Bohicon, Cotonou-Airport, Kandi-Airport, Natitingou, Parakou-Airport and Savè) located in Benin, Western Africa. For the execution of this work, monthly series of precipitation and potential evapotranspiration from 1970 to 2015 were used. Once the monthly water balance of the six seasons was elaborated, it was observed that the rainy (dry) period decreases (increases) from the coast (Cotonou-Airport) to the north of Benin (Kandi-Airport) and, coincides with Boreal summer and part of autumn (Boreal winter and part of spring). Regarding the climate classification, the Cotonou-Airport station was characterized as Subhumid Megathermal climate with moderate winter deficit (C2wA’a’); the stations of Bohicon and Savè presented similar climate classification with Subhumid Dry Megathermal climate with low or without water surplus (C1dA’a’); Natitingou with Subhumid Dry climate Megathermal with large summer surplus (C1s2A’a’); Parakou-Airport with Subhumid climate Dry Megathermic with moderate summer surplus (C1sA’a’) and, Kandi-Airport presented Semi-arid Megathermal climate with moderate summer surplus (DsA’a’). In Benin, subsistence and rainfed farming showed greater risk in the north of the country due to the decrease in the rainy season and the water surplus from the coast (south) to the north of the country, with the increase in aridity. The study evaluates the characteristics of tropospheric nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations from 2005 to 2020 in eight cities in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Midwestern Brazil, using data available from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI). Resumo A determinação da área foliar (AF) das culturas é um parâmetro indicativo do crescimento e da produtividade, sendo a busca por métodos precisos e exatos para a sua estimativa de extrema importância. O urucum (Bixa orellana L.) é uma espécie arbórea nativa da Floresta Amazônica e da Mata Atlântica, cuja importância econômica está relacionada ao corante natural extraído de suas sementes. Assim, o presente estudo objetivou comparar diferentes métodos para determinação da AF em mudas de urucum. Para isso, o método planimétrico foi considerado padrão e, com base nele, testou-se a equivalência em relação aos métodos das dimensões foliares - comprimento (C) e largura (L) - e ao scanner. No método das dimensões foliares o fator de forma (f) de 0,64 foi ajustado previamente para o urucum por meio da análise de regressão entre AF e o produto C x L. No método do scanner, utilizou-se o aplicativo ImageJ para determinar a AF. A regressão linear sem intercepto entre AF do método padrão e AF estimada por cada método alternativo foi utilizada para verificar a concordância dos resultados. Os métodos das dimensões foliares e do scanner foram equivalentes ao método padrão (5% de probabilidade de erro) e equivalentes entre si (1% de probabilidade de erro). Assim, verificou-se que esses métodos podem ser empregados com segurança na estimativa da área foliar do urucum. Contudo, o método das dimensões apresenta vantagens práticas em relação aos outros por ser não destrutivo.

This study examined the ENSO and Rain Anomaly Index in Mato Grosso do Sul state using rainfall data from 32 sites obtained from the National Water Agency through its web platform (www.hidroweb.ana.gov.br). Annual totals were compared with ENSO occurrence information at http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov. Precipitation anomaly indices (ACI) were generated to qualitatively evaluate the series with ENSO. The years considered in El Niño were classified as extremely wet by the IAC. La Niña's effect was confirmed by the IAC as extremely dry years. Comparing the IAC obtained from the NOAA website information there is a good correspondence between the years under the action of the positive component of ENSO.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Informações sobre chuvas intensas com diferentes durações são de extrema importância para o estabelecimento de equações matemáticas que relacionam as grandezas fundamentais da chuva: a intensidade de precipitação (i m ), sua duração (t) e sua frequência de ocorrência (f), representada pelo período de retorno (TR = 1/f). Essas equações são denominadas equações intensidade- duração-frequência (IDF), ou equações de chuvas intensas e são largamente utilizadas para subsidiar o planejamento e dimensionamento de obras hidráulicas, em especiais as hidro-agrícolas. No entanto, informações dessa natureza são escassas no Brasil devido à baixa densidade da rede pluviográfica e devido à dificuldade de obtenção dessas informações. Para suprir a necessidade de informações de chuvas intensas de diferentes durações, foram desenvolvidas metodologias, denominadas de desagregação de chuvas, as quais desagregam a chuva de um dia, proveniente de registros pluviométricos, em chuvas de menores durações. Dentre os métodos de desagregação existentes, destaca-se o Método das Relações de Chuvas de Diferentes Durações (RCDD). No Brasil, este método é recomendado por CETESB (1979), a qual estabeleceu coeficientes de desagregação (cd) tomados como válido para todo o território nacional. O RCDD apresenta como uma de suas premissas o comportamento estático das relações de chuvas de diferentes durações em função do período de retorno e a similaridade dessas relações em diferentes localidades (cds supostamente válidos para todo o território nacional). Outra questão sobre o RCDD é que ainda não foi averiguada a equivalência entre as i m observadas e estimadas pelas equações estabelecidas a partir de sua aplicação, assim como a avaliação dos erros proporcionados pela aplicação do RCDD. Nesse sentido, os objetivos do presente trabalho foram: averiguar as premissas do método RCDD, ou seja, verificar se os cds apresentam tendências em função do período de retorno e se apresentam validade nacional; verificar se existe equivalência entre os dados de i m observados e estimados pelo método RCDD. Para cumprir com esses objetivos foram analisados dados pluviográficos e pluviométricos de estações distribuídas no estado de Minas Gerais. A técnica de regressão foi utilizada para avaliar as premissas do método, através da análise do coeficiente angular da reta: a regressão linear entre os coeficientes de desagregação em função do período de retorno, em caso de tendências, teria o coeficiente angular diferente de zero e; a regressão linear entre os dados de diferentes localidades, em caso de igualdade, teria o coeficiente angular igual a 45o (relação 1:1). Para a maioria dos casos, não foi constatada tendências dos coeficientes de desagregação em função do período de retorno (93% dos casos). As tendências detectadas não modificaram os coeficientes de desagregação de maneira expressiva em relação à média obtida dos diferentes em função do período de retorno. Para a maioria das comparações das relações de chuvas intensas de diferentes durações, de diferentes localidades, foram constatadas diferenças significativas entre as mesmas (91% dos casos). Sendo assim, o uso de coeficientes de desagregação generalizados pode incorrer em erros. O procedimento estatístico utilizado para testar a equivalência foram os seguintes testes: teste de identidade de modelos e teste de equivalência 1:1. Também foram analisados os erros provenientes de cada equação IDF, através do erro de predição absoluto médio (EPAM), raiz do quadrado médio do erro (RQME) e erro padrão da estimativa (EPE), além das estatísticas de ajuste. Foi possível concluir que o método RCDD não gerou estimativas de chuvas intensas equivalentes aos dados observados, seja com os coeficientes generalizados da CETESB (1979) ou com os coeficientes específicos (locais), para a maioria das situações (mais de 80% das situações). No entanto, os erros obtidos pelos modelos são considerados aceitáveis na previsão de chuvas intensas de diferentes durações, o que torna o método RCDD uma alternativa para suprir as necessidades de informações de chuvas intensas. A análise com coeficientes locais tende a aumentar a eficácia do método RCDD, proporcionando menores erros e melhores estatísticas de ajuste. Information about intense rainfall of different durations is very importante for the establishment of mathematical equations that relate the fundamental characteristics of rainfall: intensity (i m ), duration (t) and frequency (f), represented by the return period (RP = 1/f). These equations are known by intensity-duration-frequency equations (IDF), or intense rainfall equations and are widely used to subsidize the planning and design of hydraulic works, especially hydro-agricultural projects. However, informations of this nature is scarce in Brazil due to the low density of the pluviographics gauge stations and due to the difficulty of obtaining this information. For subsidize information about intense rainfall of different durations, methodologies were developed, called daily rainfall disaggregation, which disaggregates one-day rainfall from pluviometric records into rainfall of shorter durations. Among the existing disaggregation methods, the Rainfall Method of Different Durations (RCDD) stands out. In Brazil, this method is recommended by CETESB (1979), which established disaggregation coefficients (dc) taken as valid for the whole national territory. The RCDD presents as one of its premises the static behavior of rainfall ratios of different durations to different return period and the similarity of these dc in different locations (dc theoretically valid for the whole national territory). Another question about RCDD is there is doubt about the equivalence between the i m observed and estimated by the equations established by RCDD method, as well as the evaluation of the errors provided by the application of the RCDD. Therefore, the objectives of the present work were: to ascertain the premises of the RCDD method, that is, to verify if there are trends in dc to different return period and if the dc have nationally valid; verify if there is equivalence between i m data observed and estimated by the RCDD method. In order to comply with these objectives, pluviometric and pluviometric data of gauge stations distributed in the Minas Gerais state were analyzed. The regression technique was used to evaluate the assumptions of the method through the analysis of the angular coefficient of the line: the linear regression between the coefficients of disaggregation as a function of the return period, in case of trends, would have the coefficient different from zero and; the linear regression between the data of different locations, in case of equality, would have the coefficient equal to 1 (ratio 1: 1). For most cases, there were no trends in the disaggregation coefficients as a function of the period of return (93% of cases). The trends detected did not significantly modify the coefficients of disaggregation in relation to the average obtained from the different return period. For most comparisons of the ratios of intense rains of different durations, from different locations, significant differences were observed between them (91% of the cases). Therefore, the use of generalized disaggregation coefficients may incur errors. The statistical procedures used to test equivalence were the following tests: model identity test and 1: 1 equivalence test. The analyzed the errors from each IDF equation, using the mean absolute prediction error (MAPE), root mean square error (RMSE) and standard error of estimation (SEE), in addition to the adjustment statistics. It was possible to conclude that the RCDD method did not generate intense rainfall estimates equivalent to the observed data, either with CETESB generalized coefficients (1979) or with specific coefficients (local) for most situations (more than 80% of situations). However, the errors obtained by the models are considered acceptable in predicting intense rainfall of different durations, which makes the RCDD method an alternative to provide information about intense rainfall. The analysis with local disaggregation coefficients tends to increase the effectiveness of the RCDD method, providing smaller errors and better adjustment statistics.

A caracterização morfométrica de bacias hidrográficas tem grande importância para a melhoria do planejamento e gestão de recursos hídricos, especialmente em áreas sujeitas a enchentes. O objetivo do estudo foi de verificar a influência da morfometria nas enchentes ocorridas na bacia hidrográfica do rio Sapucaí e em duas sub-bacias, no estado de Minas Gerais, por meio do uso de ferramentas de sistemas de informações geográficas. A base de dados consistiu de um modelo digital de elevação e da rede hidrográfica vetorial do IBGE. Em termos morfométricos, a bacia do rio Sapucaí e a sub-bacia a montante do município de Itajubá apresentaram formato irregular sendo pouco susceptíveis a enchentes em condições normais de precipitação. Já a sub-bacia a montante do município de São Sebastião da Bela Vista apresenta formato mais circular e maior potencial para a ocorrência enchentes. A elevada diferença de nível entre a região de cabeceira e o trecho a montante da cidade de Itajubá foi considerada a principal causadora das enchentes na região, devido à diminuição do tempo de concentração do escoamento e a ocorrência de picos de enchentes.Palavras-chave: geoprocessamento, morfometria, recursos hídricos. MORPHOMETRIC ASPECTS OF SAPUCAÍ RIVER BASIN, MINAS GERAIS STATE, BRAZIL, RELATED TO THE FLOOD STUDIES ABSTRACTThe morphometric analysis of watershed is a very important tool to improving the planning and management of water resources, especially in basins subject to flooding. Using Geographic Information System were obtained several morphometric indexes of the Sapucaí river basin and the same was made for two sub-basins, in Minas Gerais State, to check the influence of the morphology of the basins in the floods occurred in the region. The database consisted of a digital elevation model of Shuttle Radar Topography Mission and the hydrographic network vector of IBGE. The Sapucaí river basin and the sub-basin upstream of Itajubá city had an elongated shaped, making the same less susceptibility to floods in normal conditions of rainfall. Already, the sub-basin upstream of Sebastião da Bela Vista is subject to floods because the shaped is next to circle, resulting in a shorter flow concentration and therefore greater potential for the occurrence of flood peak flows. Among the results, the considerable change in the slope values of the Sapucaí river basin, was considered the reason to flood occurrence in the region, because the time of concentration and the occurrence of peaks flooding of these areas.Keywords: geoprocessing, morphometry, water resources. Quando a disponibilidade de água no solo é reduzida as plantas respondem diminuindo a taxa de transpiração, o crescimento e o desenvolvimento para racionar o consumo de água do solo. O objetivo desta dissertação foi quantificar a resposta da transpiração e sobre alguns parâmetros de crescimento (área foliar, altura e diâmetro) e desenvolvimento (número de folhas), em mudas de três espécies florestais submetidas a deficiência hídrica do solo, representada pela fração de água transpirável no solo (FATS). Para atingir esse objetivo, foram instalados dois experimentos em casa de vegetação, sendo um instalado na primavera/verão e outro no outono/inverno. Os experimentos foram conduzidos sob o delineamento inteiramente casualisado, organizado em esquema fatorial 3x2, sendo três espécies florestais (Corymbia citriodora, Eucalyptus urophylla e Eucalyptus cloeziana) dois regimes hídricos (com e sem deficiência hídrica) e nove repetições por tratamento. A FATS é a metodologia que mais se aproxima da real quantidade de água que a planta utiliza para a transpiração. Para o Corymbia citriodora o início da redução da transpiração, indicativo do fechamento estomático, ocorreu para a FATS crítica de 0,32 e 0,85, respectivamente para os dois experimentos. Para o Eucalyptus urophylla o início da redução da transpiração ocorreu para a FATS crítica de 0,40 e 0,88, respectivamente para os dois experimentos. Para o Eucalyptus cloeziana a FATS crítica onde ocorre a redução da transpiração foi de 0,84 e 0,99, respectivamente para os dois experimentos. Esses valores indicam que o Corymbia citriodora e Eucalyptus urophylla são mais tolerantes a deficiência hídrica no solo, enquanto o Eucalyptus cloeziana reduz a FATS a um conteúdo de água maior no solo, sendo mais sensível em detectar a deficiência hídrica. Quando os dados foram separados em dias com alta e baixa demanda evaporativa do ar, representada pelo déficit de pressão de vapor, houve diferença na FATS crítica que começa a afetar a transpiração para as três espécies florestais, para os dois experimentos. Os parâmetros de crescimento e desenvolvimento decresceram substancialmente após o início da deficiência hídrica no solo, antes ou muito próximo do momento em que houve redução da transpiração em ambos experimentos.

Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro Agricultural and livestock production is influenced by different climatic factors and international demand. Livestock currently plays an important role in the country's economic activity and, as a result of this influence, there is a need to rethink the management stages based on the application of new techniques and technological tools in the management of these areas. The present work presents an evaluation of the biometric characteristics and the processing of orbital images to obtain the vegetation indices of a commercial pasture area located in the municipality of Cachoeiras de Macacu, RJ. For the biometric characterization, destructive and non-destructive methods on the surface were considered, as well as the method based on orbital images from the Landsat-8 (L8) and Sentinel-2 (S2) satellites. The leaf area index (LAI) was determined in the campaigns, using a ceptometer and the height for two areas, defined as: i) outdoor (30 ha) with 160 animals grazing every 15 days, and ii) indoor (25 m?), fenced inside the outdoor area and without grazing. In the destructive method adopted in three campaigns, the vegetation in the external area was collected at ground level and taken to the laboratory. The orbital images were selected, considering the lowest cloud interference, pre-processed and algebraically manipulated with geoprocessing tools. The meteorological variables for characterization of the environmental conditions of the place were obtained by a micrometeorological station installed in the area and the precipitation was measured by a meteorological station located close to the study area. The IAF presented an average of 2.10 m2.m-2, with a minimum value of 0.68 m2.m-2, and a maximum value of 5.00 m2.m-2, while in the internal area the average was 2. 72 m2.m-2, with a minimum of 1.31 m2.m-2; and a maximum of 5.31 m2.m-2. The height of the vegetation in the external area averaged 29.19 cm, with a maximum value of 75 cm and a minimum of 8 cm, for the internal area it was found an average of 48.41 cm, with a maximum value of 90 cm and a minimum of 12 cm. For Landsat-8 images, the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) ranged between 0.61 and 0.83; SAVI (Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index) between 0.32 and 0.68; and IAF with values between 0.52 and 4.56, for Sentinel-2 the NDVI variation was between 0.58 and 0.79, SAVI between 0.29 and 0.61 and IAF between 0.42 and 2.17. The IAF values estimated by the SAVI index with the observed IAF (ceptometer) showed accuracy, with a Willmott coefficient of agreement (d) of 0.87 (Sentinel-2) and 0.86 (Landsat-8) for L=0. 25. The study showed that the results show seasonal behavior, which indicated periods with greater availability of water and solar energy in the environment favor the growth of vegetation. Monitoring becomes an important tool to help understand seasonal dynamics and provide information for projects and management of pasture areas. Nas campanhas foi determinado o ?ndice de ?rea foliar (IAF), com a utiliza??o de um cept?metro e a altura para duas ?reas, defindas como: i) externa (30 ha) com pastoreio de 160 animais a cada 15 dias, e ii) interna (25 m?), cercada dentro da ?rea externa e sem pastoreio. No m?todo destrutivo adotado em tr?s campanhas, a vegeta??o da ?rea externa foi coletada ao n?vel do solo e levada para laborat?rio. As imagens orbitais foram selecionadas, considerando a menor interfer?ncia de nuvens, pr?-processadas e manipuladas algebricamente com ferramentas de geoprocessamento. As vari?veis meteorol?gicas para caracteriza??o das condi??es ambientais do local foram obtidas por uma esta??o micrometeorol?gica instalada na ?rea e a precipita??o foi medida por uma esta??o meteorol?gica localizada pr?xima da ?rea de estudo. O IAF apresentou m?dia de 2,10 m2.m-2, com valor m?nimo de 0,68 m2.m-2, e valor m?ximo de 5,00 m2.m-2, enquanto na ?rea interna a m?dia foi de 2,72 m2.m-2, com m?nimo de 1,31 m2.m-2; e m?ximo de 5,31 m2.m-2. O estudo demonstrou que os resultados apresentam comportamento sazonal, que indicou per?odos com maior disponibilidade de ?gua e energia solar no ambiente favorecem o crescimento da vegeta??o. O monitoramento se torna importante ferramenta para auxiliar no conhecimento da din?mica sazonal e, fornece informa??es para projetos e manejo de ?reas de pastagem.

River, an important tributary of the Amazon River and considered one of the most sinuous rivers in the world, lacks scientific information when related to climatic and environmental variables, which end up imposing influences on the local social and economic organization. Understanding this past and future environmental dynamics is an important tool for managing the territory and it?s natural resources. In this sense, this study intends to reduce the information gap in the region with a study of the time series from 2001 to 2018 of climatic, hydrological variables, vegetation and fires, in addition to generating a future scenario of the water dynamics of the Juru? Basin with implications for ecosystems services. Monthly data on the average surface temperature, rain and soil moisture obtained from the reanalysis were used; heat source data obtained from MOD14V006 - active fire products; vegetation index - EVI and surface water index - NDFI, products of MOD13A3. All variables were characterized by means of descriptive statistics, Boxplot, Principal Component Analysis-ACP, Correlation and the Mann-Kendall and Pettitt trend analysis tests were applied. The ARIMA model was used to simulate future changes to the NDFI, then trend tests were applied. All processing took place in software R version 3.5.1. The years with the lowest average monthly rainfall in the series were 2010 (155.62 mm), 2016 (163.15 mm) and 2005 (169.93 mm) also observed for soil moisture 2005 (435 mm) and 2016 (448 mm ); the years with the highest monthly average rainfall were 2009 (207.31 mm) and 2014 (202.80 mm), with the highest values of flooded areas in January, 23,772 km2. The highest concentration of fire outbreaks occurred in August (1,142) and September (1,547), coinciding with the lowest NDFI values found (1,421 km2 and 890 km2), with the years 2005 and 2010 with the largest records of outbreaks: 5,427 and 4,559. The EVI presented the highest values in the months of October (0.566), November (0.573) and December (0.560), the beginning of the rainy season and the lowest values in June (0.502) and July (0.503), coinciding with the period of lower precipitation and average temperature. The years 2015 with 22,275 km2 and 2009 with 16,140 km2 with the largest records of flooded area, and 2010 with 1,764 km2 and 2005 with 1,967 km2 with the lowest records. The ACP pointed out rain as the variable with the greatest influence on the dynamics of the Juru? basin with a contribution of 0.98, followed by the outbreaks of fire with -0.90. The NDFI showed a high correlation with rain, which in turn proved to be closely linked to the environmental dynamics of the Juru? River basin, with direct responses in the behavior of vegetation, the river's water dynamics and the occurrence of fires, thereby allowing the generation of a reliable future scenario based on ARIMA modeling, with an expression of seasonality and a significant tendency to decrease flooded areas by 2030. A regi?o da bacia hidrogr?fica do rio Juru?, importante afluente do rio Amazonas e tido como um dos rios mais sinuosos do mundo carece de informa??es cient?ficas quando relacionado ?s vari?veis clim?ticas e ambientais, que acabam por impor influ?ncias na organiza??o social e econ?mica local. Entender esta din?mica ambiental, pret?rita e futura, configura-se como importante ferramenta de gest?o do territ?rio e de seus recursos naturais. Neste sentido, este estudo pretende diminuir a lacuna de informa??es da regi?o com estudo da s?rie temporal de 2001 a 2018 de vari?veis clim?ticas, hidrol?gicas, vegeta??o e focos de inc?ndios, al?m de gerar cen?rio futuro da din?mica h?drica da Bacia do Juru? com implica??es nos servi?os ecossist?micos. Foram usados dados mensais da temperatura m?dia da superf?cie, chuva e umidade do solo obtidos da rean?lise; dados de focos de calor obtidos do MOD14V006 - produtos de fogo ativo; ?ndice de vegeta??o- EVI e ?ndice de ?gua na superf?cie - NDFI, produtos do MOD13A3. Todas as vari?veis foram caracterizadas por meio da estat?stica descritiva, Boxplot, An?lise de Componentes Principais-ACP, Correla??o e foram aplicados os testes de an?lise de tend?ncia Mann-Kendall e Pettitt. O modelo ARIMA foi usado para simular mudan?as futuras do NDFI, depois se aplicou testes de tend?ncia. Todo processamento se deu no software R vers?o 3.5.1. Os anos de menor m?dia mensal de chuva da s?rie foram 2010 (155,62 mm), 2016 (163,15 mm) e 2005 (169,93 mm) tamb?m observados para umidade do solo 2005 (435 mm) e 2016 (448 mm); os anos de maior m?dia mensal de chuva foram 2009 (207,31 mm) e 2014 (202,80 mm), com maiores valores de ?reas inundadas em janeiro, 23.772 km2. A ACP apontou a chuva como a vari?vel de maior influ?ncia na din?mica da bacia do Juru? com 0,98 de contribui??o, seguida dos focos de inc?ndio com -0,90. O NDFI apresentou alta correla??o com a chuva, que por sua vez se mostrou intimamente ligada a din?mica ambiental da bacia hidrogr?fica do Rio Juru?, com respostas diretas no comportamento da vegeta??o, da din?mica h?drica do rio e da ocorr?ncia de inc?ndios, permitindo com isso a gera??o de cen?rio futuro confi?vel a partir da modelagem ARIMA, com express?o da sazonalidade e tend?ncia significativa de diminui??o de ?reas inundadas at? 2030.

The influence of precipitation and streamflow extremes in the spring of the Para?ba do Sul Watershed and their relationship with the climate variability modes were evaluated. The extremes were characterized by standardized indices to analyze the dynamics and relationship with the climate variability modes. There are three reservoirs (Paraibuna, Santa Branca and Jaguari) in this region, mainly used for power generation, fresh water supply and flood control. The precipitation series were used from seven weather stations and three natural flow measurement points for the period between January 1972 and December 2016. The precipitation series underwent quality treatment and gap filling. Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) was used for precipitation anomalies and Streamflow Drought Index (SDI) for flow anomalies. The indices were calculated on the scales of 3, 6 and 12 months to evaluate the hydrological years, dry and wet semesters and seasons. A trend analysis was performed. Correlation between SPI and SDI was performed for the three timescales. The climate indices were analyzed of the following climate variability modes: Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), El Ni?o Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Atlantic Interhemispheric SST Gradient (AISG). The time series were subjected to harmonic and spectral analysis. SPI analyzes characterized 79 anomalies, of which 39 dry and 40 wet years, while SDI identified 37 anomalies, of which 15 dry and 22 wet. No significant statistical trends were found in the series. There was correlation with r> 0.5 for all evaluations except for four seasons on the three-month dry season scale and one season on the six-month wet semester scale. The most frequent occurrence of extremes in the seasons occurred in five dry years and six wet years. The series can be divided into two characteristic periods, the first from 1972 to 1993 and the second from 1994 to 2016. The first period showed years with predominance of positive anomalies in the dry semester and the dry seasons, and in the second period there was an inversion, with negative anomalies in the wet semester and the rainy seasons. The first harmonic presented a period between 11 and 22 years for decadal scale and may be related to ODP or GITA. The second and third harmonics between 2 and 7 years for interannual scale may be related to the ENSO phenomenon. It was possible to observe the occurrence of climatic extremes and characterize their frequency. Cycles between three and six years were observed for the occurrence of climatic extremes. The frequency of precipitation and streamflow extremes were related, however the intensity of these phenomena cannot be observed with the same clarity. The study thus contributes to the transition from traditional management systems to systems aligned with the sustainable development model. Avaliou-se influ?ncia dos extremos de precipita??o e vaz?o nas cabeceiras da Bacia do Rio Para?ba do Sul e sua rela??o com os modos de variabilidade clim?tica. Os extremos foram caracterizados por meio de ?ndices padronizados, buscando analisar a din?mica dos mesmos e sua rela??o com os modos de variabilidade clim?tica. Na regi?o localizam-se tr?s reservat?rios (Paraibuna, Santa Branca e Jaguari), principalmente, utilizados para gera??o de energia el?trica, abastecimento e controle de inunda??es. Foram utilizadas s?ries de precipita??o de sete esta??es meteorol?gicas e tr?s pontos de medi??o de vaz?o natural entre janeiro/1972 e dezembro/2016. As s?ries de precipita??o passaram por tratamento de qualidade e preenchimento de falhas. Foi utilizado o Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) para anomalias de precipita??o e o Streamflow Drought Index (SDI) para anomalia de vaz?o. Os ?ndices foram calculados nas escalas de 3, 6 e 12 meses para avaliar os anos hidrol?gicos, semestres e trimestres secos e ?midos. As s?ries passaram por testes estat?sticos que permitiram a an?lise de tend?ncia. Foi realizada a correla??o entre SPI e SDI para as tr?s escalas de tempo. Os ?ndices clim?ticos dos modos de variabilidade clim?tica: Oscila??o Decadal do Pac?fico (ODP), El Ni?o Oscila??o Sul (ENOS) e Gradiente Inter-hemisf?rico de TSM do Atl?ntico (GITA) foram analisados. As s?ries temporais foram submetidas a an?lise harm?nica e espectral. As an?lises de SPI caracterizaram 79 anomalias, sendo 39 anos secos e 40 ?midos, enquanto o SDI apresentou 37 anomalias, sendo 15 secos e 22 ?midos. N?o foram verificadas tend?ncias estat?sticas significativas nas s?ries. As an?lises de correla??o demostraram correla??o com r > 0,5 para todas as avali??es, com exce??o de quatro esta??es na escala de tr?s meses para a esta??o seca e uma esta??o na escala de seis meses para semestre ?mido. A maior frequ?ncia de ocorr?ncia de extremos nas esta??es ocorreu em cinco anos secos e seis anos ?midos. A s?rie pode ser dividida entre dois per?odos caracter?sticos, o primeiro de 1972 a 1993 e, o segundo de 1994 a 2016. O primeiro per?odo apresentou anos com predomin?ncia de anomalia positiva no semestre seco e na esta??o seca e no segundo observou-se uma invers?o, com anomalia negativas no semestre ?mido e na esta??o chuvosa. O primeiro harm?nico apresentou per?odo entre 11 e 22 anos para escala decadal e pode estar relacionado com ODP ou GITA. O segundo e terceiro harm?nicos entre 2 e 7 anos para escala interanual pode estar relacionada com o fen?meno ENOS. Foi poss?vel observar a ocorr?ncia de extremos clim?ticos e caracterizar sua frequ?ncia. Foram observados ciclos entre tr?s e seis anos para a ocorr?ncia de extremos clim?ticos. A frequ?ncia de extremos de precipita??o e vaz?o apresentaram rela??o, entretanto a intensidade desses fen?menos n?o pode ser observada com a mesma clareza. ET estimation is extremely important in various agricultural practices, such as for having a suitable irrigation management. There are some types of evapotranspiration (reference, crop, actual ET and so on), and for the current study, the actual evapotranspiration (ETa) for a surface which was covered by pasture was chosen to work with, due to the fact that in the ETa it is taken into consideration the real conditions of the soil-plant-atmosphere system, whether the plant is under stress or not, for instance. ETa was estimated by the Bowen ratio - energy balance (BREB) method. It may be applied for different types of surfaces, such as lakes, lagoons and in forest, pasture and crop evapotranspiration. The reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was also estimated, using the method by Penman-Monteith (PM), the standardized method by the Food and Agriculture Organization No 56 bulletin (FAO56). ETo by PM-FAO-56 may also be applied to different types of vegetation and it has simple application. The main objectives of this study were to estimate and to evaluate the actual evapotranspiration variation of a pasture area by the Bowen Ratio method and the relation between ETa and ETo estimated by Penman-Monteith, and to evaluate the energy fluxes estimated through the energy balance. The work was developed in an experimental area in ?Reserva Ecol?gica de Guapia?u? (22? 27' 49" S; 2? 45' 56" W, 21 m), located in Cachoeiras de Macacu, Rio de Janeiro. To make use of these methods, a micrometeorological mast was installed in the area, where measures of temperature and relative humidity profiles were made in three different high levels on the surface (1.15, 1.58 and 2.33 m), wind speed profile in four different levels (1.23, 1.68, 2.34 and 3.00 m) on the surface and measures of the net radiation (1.5 m above the crop), too. Moreover, soil heat flux measures were made (depth of 0.05 m). The instruments used for these measures were connected to a datalogger, which collected and recorded the data. In the estimations by the BREB, the averages of the micrometeorological elements at each 30 minutes were used. The Bowen Ratio method generates errors due to the simplifications made to apply it, and in the level 2-3 it was verified high frequency of the error generated by the lack of temperature and relative humidity gradient, not being considered in other analyses. Energy fluxes partitions analyses were made and high valued determination coefficients were found (r2 equal to 0.9947 to the latent heat flux and 0.9832 to the sensible heat). The energy balance closing was verified and besides that, it was confirmed that the needed measures to apply the BREB method were made inside the inner boundary layer. It was concluded that the latent heat flux increased in spring and in the summer, as well as the actual evapotranspiration and the reference evapotranspiration, periods of the year when the water and solar energy availabilities are higher in the environment. Existem alguns tipos de evapotranspira??o (refer?ncia, cultura, real, entre outras), e para o presente estudo, foi avaliada a evapotranspira??o real (ETR) de uma superf?cie cultivada por pastagem. Na estimativa de ETR, consideram-se as condi??es reais do sistema solo-planta-atmosfera, como se a planta se encontra em condi??o de estresse ou n?o. ETR foi estimada pelo m?todo do balan?o de energia ? raz?o de Bowen (BERB). Este pode ser aplicado em diversos tipos de superf?cies, como em corpos h?dricos e evapotranspira??o de florestas, pastagens e culturas agr?colas. Tamb?m foi estimada a evapotranspira??o de refer?ncia (ETo) por Penman-Monteith (PM), parametrizada no boletim da Food and Agriculture Organization No 56 (FAO56). ETo por PM-FAO-56 pode ser aplicada para diversos tipos de vegeta??o e o m?todo possui simples aplica??o. Os principais objetivos do estudo foram estimar e avaliar a varia??o de ETR de uma ?rea de pastagem pelo BERB e a rela??o entre ETR e ETo, al?m de avaliar as parti??es dos fluxos de energia. O trabalho foi desenvolvido em uma ?rea experimental na Reserva Ecol?gica de Guapia?u (22? 27' 49" S; 42? 45' 56" W, 21 m), localizada em Cachoeiras de Macacu, Rio de Janeiro. Para a utiliza??o de tais m?todos, foi instalado um mastro micrometeorol?gico na ?rea, onde foram realizadas medidas do perfil de temperatura e umidade do ar em tr?s n?veis acima da superf?cie (1,15, 1,58 e 2,33 m), do perfil da velocidade do vento em quatro n?veis (1,23, 1,68, 2,34 e 3,00 m) acima da superf?cie e do balan?o de radia??o (Rn) (1,5 m acima do dossel). Al?m disso, foram realizadas medidas do fluxo de calor no solo (G) (0,05 m de profundidade). Os instrumentos utilizados para tais medidas foram conectados a um datalogger, que realizou as coletas e o armazenamento dos dados a cada 10 min. Nas estimativas pelo BERB foram utilizadas m?dias de 30 min dos elementos micrometeorol?gicos. O m?todo BERB produz erros devido ?s simplifica??es feitas para a aplica??o do mesmo, e para o n?vel 2-3 verificou-se alta frequ?ncia do erro gerado por baixos gradientes de temperatura e umidade do ar. Assim, esse n?vel foi desconsiderado em outras an?lises. Foram realizadas an?lises das parti??es dos fluxos de energia (calor latente ou sens?vel) em rela??o ? energia dispon?vel (Rn - G), que alcan?aram altos coeficientes de determina??o (r2 de at? 0,9947 para o fluxo de calor latente e 0,9832 para o de calor sens?vel). Verificou-se o fechamento do balan?o de energia e, ademais, confirmou-se que as medidas necess?rias ao m?todo de BERB foram realizadas dentro da camada limite interna. Concluiu-se que a parti??o do fluxo de calor latente apresentou aumento na primavera e no ver?o, assim como ETR e ETo, ?poca do ano em que h? maior disponibilidade de ?gua e energia solar no ambiente

Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro Evapotranspiration is a fundamental step in maintaining the water cycle. Consequently, its occurrence has an impact on the availability of water in natural and man-made environments and on agricultural productivity. In order to understand the hydrological cycle in areas with different levels of impact, it is important that evapotranspiration studies are carried out both in natural and anthropogenic environments. In Conservation Units, such studies can contribute to the development of more effective management plans. Therefore, studies involving the application of evapotranspiration estimation techniques are essential for this parameter to be more widely used. In order to understand the dynamics of evapotranspiration in the Itatiaia National Park and in the State of Rio de Janeiro, this study used remote sensing techniques and empirical equations. For the Itatiaia National Park, micrometeorological sensors installed in a tower in the Park were used and images from orbital remote sensing were used, all estimates were compared with the FAO-56 reference method, from December 2017 to November 2018. For the rest of the state, evapotranspiration estimates were obtained using the product MOD16A2 and seven empirical equations, using the FAO-56 reference method, with data obtained from six meteorological stations in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in the period from 2007 to 2013, including La Ni?a, El Ni?o and Neutrality phases. A evapotranspira??o consiste em uma etapa fundamental para a manuten??o do ciclo da ?gua. Consequentemente, sua ocorr?ncia tem impacto na disponibilidade de ?gua em ambientes naturais e antropizados e na produtividade agr?cola. A fim de compreender o ciclo hidrol?gico em ?reas com diferentes n?veis de impacto, ? importante que estudos de evapotranspira??o sejam feitos tanto em ambientes naturais quanto antropizados. Em Unidades de Conserva??o, tais estudos podem contribuir para a elabora??o de planos de manejo mais eficazes. Portanto, estudos que envolvam a aplica??o de t?cnicas de estimativa de evapotranspira??o s?o fundamentais para que esse par?metro seja mais amplamente utilizado. Com o objetivo de compreender a din?mica da evapotranspira??o no Parque Nacional do Itatiaia e no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, esse estudo utilizou t?cnicas de sensoriamento remoto e equa??es emp?ricas. Para o Parque Nacional do Itatiaia foram utilizados sensores micrometeorol?gicos instalados em uma torre no Parque e foram utilizadas imagens de sensoriamento remoto orbital, todas as estimativas foram comparadas com o m?todo de refer?ncia FAO-56, no per?odo de dezembro de 2017 a novembro de 2018. Para o restante do estado as estimativas de evapotranspira??o foram obtidas atrav?s do produto MOD16A2 e de sete equa??es emp?ricas, atrav?s do m?todo de refer?ncia FAO-56, com dados obtidos atrav?s de seis esta??es meteorol?gicas no estado do Rio de Janeiro, no per?odo de 2007 a 2013, incluindo fases de La Ni?a, El Ni?o e Neutralidade.
