- Abstract
This report results from a contract tasking Samara State Aerospace University (SSAU) as follows: The contractor will develop and investigate aerodynamic and structural weight theories associated with morphing wing technology. The contractor has proposed using a generic, telescoping wing design as the baseline configuration for analysis. Specific tasks to be accomplished include: 1. Development of a new weight analysis theory; 2. Creation of an analytical model of the telescoping wing design; 3. Calculation of Load-Carrying Factor for the uniform pressure distribution or for some prescribed spanwise circulation distribution; 4. Calculation of a new dimensionless Load-Carrying Factor'. according to a special algorithm which will allow computing absolute weight and wing weight fracture for different specific wing loadings; 4. Calculation of a Construction Factor' from retrospective analysis of similar wings; 5. Wind tunnel tests of a model of the telescoping wing to assess impact on aerodynamic coefficients and drag polars; 6. Creation of the vortex-lattice computational model of the telescoping wing to obtain its aerodynamic coefficients; 7. Creation of the panel method computational model for detailed study of flow features in the region of the telescope wing Joint; and 8. Analysis and comparison of experimental and computational results., The original document contains color images.
