Direct, indirect, and partner effects estimated among uplifts, respite care, stress, and marital quality across mothers and fathers of children with autism spectrum disorder (n = 102) and Down syndrome (n = 111) were examined in this cross-sectional study. Parents of children with ASD who reported more uplifts and less stress individually reported better marital quality; these wives reported better marital quality as their husbands reported more uplifts and less stress. Wives with children with DS who reported more uplifts, individually along with their husbands reported less stress and better marital quality. Respite was directly associated with marital quality for parents of children with ASD and indirectly associated with marital quality for parents of children with DS with reduced individual stress. Implications are discussed.

A burgeoning literature links being married to better cognitive health, but less attention has been paid to how couples view their marital relationships. Couples do not always concur in their assessments, and such discrepancies affect both partners' health. We present a dyadic study on whether and how overall and discrepant views of marital quality predicted (a) dementia onset and (b) changes in older adults' depressive symptoms with spousal dementia. A pooled sample of couples aged 50+ (dyad N = 3,936) from the Health and Retirement Study rated positive and negative marital quality at baseline (2006/2008). Each participant reported whether they had been told of having dementia and their depressive symptoms once every other year (2006/2008-2014/2016). Cox proportional hazards regression revealed that older adults who rated their marriages either more positively or more negatively than their spouses were more likely to develop dementia. We applied multiphase growth curve modeling to older adults whose spouses developed dementia, finding that those in marriages that were more negative overall reported more depressive symptoms but exhibited a smaller increase in these symptoms in response to spousal dementia. This study adds to the literature by showing how discrepant marital assessments shape cognitive aging and offers new insights into identifying older adults with greater dementia risk. Findings also revealed the impact of overall negative marital quality on older adults' psychological adjustment to spousal dementia, which could inform interventions intended to help couples better cope with early-stage dementia from a relational perspective.

Previous studies have shown that psychopathy, one of the Dark Triad personality traits, is associated with relationship dissatisfaction. However, the similarity of psychopathy among romantic couples remains uncertain with regard to relationship outcomes. This study examined the effect of the perceptual similarity of psychopathy on marital quality in a sample of 245 heterosexual married couples, using intraclass correlation coefficients as the method for assessing couples' similarity. This study also explored the possible mediating role of couple communication based on the Actor–Partner Interdependence model. The results reveal that husbands' self‐rating and wives' partner‐rating of psychopathy showed negative effects on marital quality, whereas wives' perceptual similarity of psychopathy exerted both actor and partner effects on marital quality via couple communication. The quality of the marital relationship is a multidimensional concept that corresponds to a dynamic and interactive process of how the couple evaluates their relationship. To this end, this study aimed to analyse the levels and characteristics of the quality of marital relationships in hetero-affective couples. It is a mixed, cross-sectional, descriptive, and exploratory study. A total of 204 people participated in the sample, who responded individually to the questionnaires: Sociodemographic, Dyadic Adjustment (DAS), and Marital Satisfaction (GRIMS), in addition to the semi-structured interview technique. Descriptive statistical analyses and thematic categorical analyses were carried out. The results showed the predominance of harmonious levels and characteristics of the participants, especially regarding cohesion, communication,sexual relations, emotional support, and social and religious support networks. Aim and Background: Given that the family is the most important social institution, many variables may affect marital relationships and its quality. Recognition of these factors can be effective in improving and improving the quality of this institution. Methods and Materials: The present study is a correlational study of path analysis. The statistical population of the study includes all married women with diploma degree and higher degree Ahvaz in 2022. From this statistical population, 340 people were selected as a sample by available sampling method. In this study, to collect data from Norton Marital Relationship Quality Scale (MRQS), Beck Short Depression Inventory (BDI-13), Hovestedt et al.'s Family Scale (FOS), Alder et al.'s Perception of Parents' Marriage Questionnaire (PPMQ) and Singh and Bahargawa Emotional Maturity Scale (EMS) were used. In the present study, the proposed model was evaluated using the path analysis method and the bootstrap method software (AMOS-24) was used to test indirect relationships. Findings: The findings of this study showed that both indirect pathways of the function of the family of Origen on depression and marital quality were confirmed through emotional maturity at a significance level of less than 0.05. But the two indirect paths of the effect of perception of parents' marriage on depression and marital quality through emotional maturity were significantly greater than 0.05, so they are not confirmed. Conclusions: The results showed that the direct pathways of the family of origin to emotional maturity, the function of the family of origin and depression, the function of the family of origin to marital quality, emotional maturity and depression, emotional maturity to marital quality and perception of parents' Marriage to marital quality were statistically significant. Therefore, it is necessary for family therapy and couple therapy specialists to pay attention to predictor variables and their effect on improving marital relations and family institution.

Abstract Background and Aims Marital relationship and its quality are among the major psychological factors affecting the multiple aspects of a person's health status. Chronic diseases are also among the factors that affect various aspects of the lives of millions of people including their marital quality status. One of the most important underlying chronic diseases is diabetes. Since the correlation between diabetes mellitus and marital quality has been neglected, this systematic review, as the first one, aims to investigate the association between marital quality and diabetes mellitus. Methods A comprehensive search was conducted among three databases (Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science) until September 2021, which resulted in 189 articles. After assessing the studies based on the inclusion criteria, 14 studies were included. Results The included studies were divided into two general groups. The first group consisted of 3 articles examining the effect of factors related to diabetes on marital quality, and the second group included 11 articles studying the effect of marital quality on diabetes and its factors. In general, the articles investigating the impact of diabetes‐related factors on marital quality showed that diabetes has negative impacts on levels of marital quality. Also, the articles investigating the impact of marital quality on diabetes‐related factors, showed that higher marital quality is associated with a lower risk of developing diabetes, a better quality of life in patients with diabetes, and better adherence to diabetes care regimen. The results regarding diabetes management were conflicting. Gender was mentioned as an important modulator in some of the investigated relationships. Conclusion Marital quality remarkably influences diabetes‐related factors and is itself affected by the condition resulting from diabetes in individuals with diabetes mellitus. However, further studies are required due to the limited number of studies investigating this correlation.

Childhood maltreatment influences adult physical health through cascading effects over the life course and it is critical to identify intervening processes. Marital quality has significant implications for adult physical health via cognitive, emotional, and behavioral pathways and may be a viable pathway. Given that cardiometabolic biomarkers are associated with the leading causes of death in the United States, the current study longitudinally investigated marital quality, health locus of control, and eating habits in a serial mediation model linking childhood maltreatment to high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL). Using a sample of 352 adults from the study of Midlife Development in the United States, we used three waves of data to test our hypotheses. Results of structural equation models indicate that although all the hypothesized direct effects were statistically significant, the serial indirect effects were non-significant. Childhood maltreatment was associated with a lower quality marriage, marital quality was associated with higher levels of health locus of control which, in turn, was associated with healthier eating habits. Finally, healthier eating habits were associated with greater HDL, but not lower LDL. Additionally, marital quality exerted a direct effect on LDL and mediated the relationship between maltreatment and LDL, but not HDL. For researchers, marital quality appears to be a mechanism linking childhood maltreatment to cardiometabolic biomarkers, yet health locus of control and eating habits do not appear to have strong effects. Background: Psychopathy is closely related to many negative interpersonal outcomes in daily life, including violence. Therefore, psychopathy intervention in subclinical individuals has significant application value. Objective: Guided by the personality–relationship transaction model and social investment theory, this study examined how marital quality affects self‐ and partner‐rated psychopathy. We also used the actor–partner interdependence mediation model to explore the mediating effect of communication. Methods: We examined self‐reports and partner reports of psychopathy, marital quality, and communication among 260 married Chinese couples. Results: The results indicated that marital quality directly influenced couples' self‐rated psychopathy, with both actor and partner effects on husbands' psychopathy and actor effects on wives' psychopathy. Moreover, verbal communication had mediating effects at time 2 between marital quality at time 1 and partner‐reported psychopathy at time 3. Meanwhile, the mediating effect of nonverbal communication was not significant. Conclusion: Our investigation of relationship effects on psychopathy revealed that the underlying mechanisms differed between self‐ and partner‐rated psychopathy. Using a two-armed cluster randomised controlled trial, CHARM2 (Counselling Husbands to Achieve Reproductive health and Marital equity), a 5-session gender equity and family planning intervention for couples in rural India, showed an impact on family planning outcomes in primary trial analyses. This study examines its effects on gender-equitable attitudes, intimate partner violence, reproductive coercion, and marital quality. We used multilevel mixed-effects models to assess the intervention impact on each outcome. Both male (aIRR at 9 months: 0.64, C.I.: 0.45,0.90; aIRR at 18 months: 0.25, C.I.: 0.18,0.39) and female (aIRR at 9 months: 0.57, C.I.: 0.46,0.71; aIRR at 18 months: 0.38, C.I.: 0.23,0.61) intervention participants were less likely than corresponding control participants to endorse attitudes accepting physical IPV at 9- and 18-month follow-ups. Men in the intervention, compared to those in the control condition, reported more gender-equitable attitudes at 9- and 18 months (ß at 9 months: 0.13, C.I.: 0.06,0.20; ß at 18 months: 0.26, C.I.: 0.19,0.34) and higher marital quality at the 18-month follow-up (ß: 0.03, C.I.: 0.01,0.05). However, we found no effects on women's experiences of IPV, reproductive coercion, or marital quality. CHARM2 shows promise in improving men's and women's attitudes towards gender equality and male perceptions of marital quality. Still, IPV and reproductive coercion reductions may require more intensive programming than that provided within this 5-session model focused on family planning.

Objective: Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women worldwide, and its incidence has increased recently. Diagnosing cancer can create many challenges, especially for married women. The aim of the present study was thus to evaluate the effect of the relationships among marital empathy, body image, and perceived social support on quality of life (QoL) and the mediating role of perceived marital quality. Method: Married women with breast cancer (N = 160) were selected through purposive accessible sampling. Measures included body image scale, Batson empathy adjectives, multidimensional scale of perceived social support, perceived marital quality, and QoL. The research method was descriptive-correlational and using structural equation modeling. Results: The best model obtained showed that all predictors directly predicted QoL: marital empathy, body image, and perceived social support (P < 0.001). Predictors (except for perceived social support by family, friends, and others) also worked indirectly through perceived marital quality to predict QoL (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Several variables predicted QoL for women with breast cancer, including body image and marital empathy. Most of such variables had both a direct effect and an indirect effect, working through perceived marital quality to affect QoL. Social support, however, had only a direct effect on QoL.

Based on the actor-partner interdependence model, this paper studied the relationship between marital commitment, sacrifice behavior and marital quality of military couples. A convenience sample of 171 Chinese military couples from Guangdong, Jiangsu and Sichuan province was used. All participants completed the self-report questionnaires independently including the Dimension of Commitment Inventory (DCI), the Couples Sacrifice Behavior Scale (CSBS) and the Evaluation and Nurturing Relationship Issues, Communication and Happiness (ENRICH). Results showed that the scores of marital commitment and marital quality of male soldiers were significantly higher than that of their spouses. Compared to their spouses, male soldiers reported higher frequency of sacrifice behaviors and perceiving sacrifice behaviors of spouses. Furthermore, the marital commitment of military couples had significant influence on their own marital quality and frequency of perceiving each other’s sacrifice behavior Military couples’ perception of the frequency of each other’s sacrifice behavior partially mediated the effect of marital commitment on their marital quality. Male soldiers’ perception of spouse’s sacrifice behavior frequency significantly predicted the marital quality of their spouses.

ObjectiveDrawing on the actor-partner interdependence model (APIM), the present study investigated the relationship between Chinese middle-aged and old couples' Confucian coping thinking and their marital quality in the hope to provide a theoretical basis for ameliorating marital quality.MethodsWith 744 middle-aged and old couples as participants, the Confucian Coping Questionnaire (CCQ) and the Quality of Marriage Index (QMI) were employed to probe the relationship between responsibility thinking (RT), pro-setback thinking (PT), fate thinking (FT), and marital quality.ResultsHusbands' and wives' scores in responsibility thinking and pro-setback thinking had significantly positive correlations with their own and their spouses' scores in marital quality, respectively, and husbands' and wives' scores in fate thinking had significantly negative correlations with their own and their spouses' marital quality, respectively. Husbands' responsibility thinking, pro-setback thinking, and fate thinking had a significant actor effect. Husbands' responsibility thinking and fate thinking had a significant partner effect. Wives' responsibility thinking, pro-setback thinking, and fate thinking had a significant actor effect. Wives' responsibility thinking and pro-setback thinking had a significant partner effect.ConclusionFrom the perspective of dyadic relationships, the present study found that responsibility thinking and pro-setback thinking could positively predict marital quality, while pro-setback thinking could negatively predict marital quality.

Background: According to previous studies, the health of the family of origin and the spouse's perceived responsiveness are among the relevant and influencing variables on marital quality. The role of the aforementioned variables on the marital quality of couples has been studied, but there is a research gap regarding the mediating role of the spouse's perceived responsiveness in the relationship between the health of the family of origin and marital quality. Aims: The present study was conducted with the purpose of investigating the mediating role of spouse's perceived responsiveness in the relationship between the health of the family of origin and marital quality. Method: The research method was descriptive-correlation and structural equation modeling. The statistical population included all married women who referred to counseling centers in 2022 in Tehran city, and 397 of them were selected by convenience sampling method. To collect data, Family–Of-Origin (Hovestadt et al., 1985), Marital Quality Scale (Busby et al., 1995) and Perceived Partner Responsiveness Scales (Reis et al., 2017) were used. Structural equation modeling and SPSS22 and Amos22 software were used for data analysis. Results: Structural equation modeling showed that the health of the Family of origin has a significant effect on women's marital quality both directly and indirectly (through perceived responsiveness) (p<0/01). Conclusion: According to the obtained results, it seems that the health of the family of origin has a direct and indirect effect on the marital quality through the mediation of improving the spouse's perceived responsiveness. The health of the family of origin as a supporting factor, in turn leads to the spouse's perceived responsiveness, and the person shows a higher marital quality due to the positive emotions caused by them. The aim of the present study was to Comparison of the Effectiveness of Contextual Therapy fair- centered (CT) (based on Iván Böszörményi-Nagy) on the Marital Quality and Marital Conflict among couples. The statistical population consisted of all couples with marital conflict who referred to the clinic of Counseling and Psychological Services in Urmia in 2017-2018. The questionnaires included Bassby et al.'s Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale (RDAS, and Sanai et al.'s revised marital conflict questionnaire(MCQ-R). In this study, applicants after matching divided into an experimental group (8 couples (and a control group (8 couple). Then, for the experimental group, 10 sessions were performed with Contextual Therapy and follow-up was performed 3 after months. To analyze the data and hypotheses, the statistical test method of "repeated measurement variance analysis" and SPSS software were used. The results showed that there is a significant difference (p < 0.001) between the effectiveness of the Contextual Therapy approach on increasing "marital quality " and reducing "marital conflict " with the control group and the effectiveness of therapeutic is steady over time. Therefore, it can be said that in the long run, a sense of justice and fairness in a relationship leads to a steady improvement in family functioning.

Background: Infertility is one of the most common human problems that affects the physical, mental and social health of individuals. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of positive psychotherapy based on belief to good on the mental health and marital‌ quality of infertile women. Materials and Methods: The current study was a quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest design and follow-up with a control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of infertile women referring to Samen Medical Complex in Mashhad in 1398. Thirty people were selected voluntarily and randomly divided into experimental (N=15) and control (N=15) groups. The experimental group received treatment in 8 sessions of 90 minutes. Data were collected using the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) and Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scales (RDAS) in three time periods. Data analysis was performed using SPSS-26 and repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: Positive psychotherapy based on belief to good has played a significant effect on mental health index (P>0.01) and marital quality (P>0.01). In addition, mental health outcomes were stable up to one-month follow-up (P>0.01). Conclusion: Positive psychotherapy based on belief to good is an effective way to increase mental health and improve the marital quality of infertile women.

Introduction: During pregnancy, the marital quality and mental security of women are threatened. A woman's physical, mental and psychological health during this period has significant effects on the health of the fetus, success in natural childbirth and breastfeeding, and improving health. Maintaining psychological security, cognitive self-regulation of emotions, and the quality of marital relations during pregnancy can reduce the worries of this period to some extent. The current research aims to predicting design a structural model of marital quality and cognitive self-regulation with the mediating role of psychological security to predict concerns during pregnancy. Methods: The present study was a descriptive-correlation type using the structural equation modeling method. The study population included all the pregnant women of 25 to 40who referred to health centers and clinics in Yazd in 2023. 275 women were randomly selected by cluster sampling method. Data was collected using Aldersey and Lin's (2011) pregnancy anxiety questionnaires, Busby et al.'s marital quality (1995), Maslow's psychological security (2004), and Garnevsky et al.'s (2002) cognitive self-regulation of emotion. Data analysis was done through Pearson correlation methods and structural equation modeling using SPSS-19 and AMOS-20 software. Results: The results of multivariate regression test showed that the variables of cognitive self-regulation of emotion (positive emotion (R=0/49), negative emotion (R=0/056), and marital quality (R=0/089) with the mediation of psychological security on concerns during pregnancy, had a direct and significant effect (P<0/05). Psychological security also had a direct, negative, and significant effect on worries during pregnancy (P<0/05). Conclusion: The results of the present study shows that the structural model of concerns during pregnancy based on cognitive self-regulation of emotion and marital quality with the mediation of psychological security had favorable fit indices, and therefore, the knowledge of these variables can help to reduce worries during pregnancy. Objective: To explore the effectiveness of self-assisted couple communication program (SACCP) onprenatal depression and marital quality in pregnant women. Methods: Totally 90 pregnant women receiving ante- natal checkup in Air Force Medical Center with the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) scores of >10 were voluntarily recruited and randomly allocated in routine caring and SACCP groups. Thirty-nine pregnant women in SACCP group and 37 pregnant women in routine caring group ultimately completed the study. In addition to routine caring, the SACCP group completed a 10-week self-assisted family communication program once a week. The EPDS and Olson Marital Quality Questionnaires (ENRICH) were used as outcomes, and covariance and independent t-teat were adopted to evaluate intervention effectiveness. Statistical analysis was conducted using the full analysis set and the per protocol set respectively. Results: Totally 76 (84.4%) pregnant women received allocation and end-point revaluation. Covariance analysis revealed that EPDS adjusted means were higher in the SACCP group than in the routine caring group (P<0.05) in both sets. T-test showed that marital satisfaction and couple communication scores were higher in the SACCP group than in the routine caring group (Ps < 0.01) in the full analysis set. Conclusion: The self-assisted couple communication program (SACCP) could effectively alleviate clinical symptoms of prenatal depression of pregnant women and improve marital quality. This study aimed to analyse the relationship between perceived social support and marital quality in balanced translocation patients and their spouses undergoing a preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) treatment cycle in China. The authors assessed the actor and partner effects of perceived social support on marital quality in patient–spouse dyads using a dyadic analysis approach. In total, 59 couples were assessed using self-report questionnaires for marital quality and perceived social support. There were significant differences in marital quality between patients and their spouses (p=.0025) based on the APIM (actor–partner interdependence model) analyses. The perceived social support of both patients (p=.0076) and spouses (p<.001) had a significant effect on individual marital quality for actor effects. Partner effects showed that patients' perceived social support had a significant effect on spouses' marital quality (p=.0156) and the spouses' perceived social support had a significant effect on patients' marital quality (p=.0084). The findings indicate that the level of perceived social support affected both his/her own marital quality and that of his/her spouse. What is already known on this subject? Infertility and reproductive treatments affect both partners, that is, the couple as a unit and have a negative impact on an individual's marital satisfaction and social relationships. What do the results of this study add? There are significant differences in marital quality between balanced translocation patients and their spouses. Perceived social support significantly correlated with marital quality in both the actor and partner effects. What are the implications of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? Health professionals should provide couple-based interventions involving both patients and spouses throughout the PGT treatment to improve perceived social support, thereby improving their marital quality. In this research, we considered how various structural aspects of friendship networks relate to marital quality according to gender. To investigate this issue, we drew on data from a large longitudinal survey on marital functioning based on 903 heterosexual couples living in Switzerland. Using reports from male and female partners, we explored the extent to which joint contacts, transitivity, and overlap in friendship structures affect various indicators of marital quality for husbands and wives in the long run. Our results indicate that separate, low transitive friendship networks affect marital quality negatively for women, but not for men. We also discuss the importance of the results for understanding the dynamics of heterosexual couples within larger relational contexts beyond dyadic interactions, as well as the relevance of separately analyzing husbands' and wives' marital dynamics. Marital quality may decrease during the early years of marriage. Establishing models predicting individualized marital quality may help develop timely and effective interventions to maintain or improve marital quality. Given that marital interactions have an important impact on marital well-being cross-sectionally and prospectively, neural responses during marital interactions may provide insight into neural bases underlying marital well-being. The current study applies connectome-based predictive modeling, a recently developed machine-learning approach, to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data from both partners of 25 early-stage Chinese couples to examine whether an individual's unique pattern of brain functional connectivity (FC) when responding to spousal interactive behaviors can reliably predict their own and their partners' marital quality after 13 months. Results revealed that husbands' FC involving multiple large networks, when responding to their spousal interactive behaviors, significantly predicted their own and their wives' marital quality, and this predictability showed gender specificity. Brain connectivity patterns responding to general emotional stimuli and during the resting state were not significantly predictive. This study demonstrates that husbands' differences in large-scale neural networks during marital interactions may contribute to their variability in marital quality and highlights gender-related differences. The This paper is purpose of this study was to study determine the effects of an education program based on rational rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) on marital quality components of couples coping with breast cancer. The statistical population of the present study includes included all the couples coping with breast cancer who visited Velayat hospital in Qazvin province in October 2018 tofor follow-up cancer treatment. The data of this study were analyzed using SPSS-24 software and Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA). The current study aimed to determine increase the marital quality in traditional beliefs. The study used qualitative design with purposive sampling and semi-structured interviews. Twenty couples (20 men and 20 women) were interviewed in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province to identify their cultural beliefs regarding marriage and family structure and address their strategies for enhancement of their marital quality. The data were analyzed using grounded theory. The participants acknowledged that some aspects of their cultural backgrounds such as dominance of shame, gender-role stereotypes, negative views towards the mainstream families, lack of collective thinking, and valuing “others’ judgments” in marital life, go against high quality marriages. The participants adopted effective strategies such as compliance and change, commitment and equilibrium, behavioral equilibrium with mainstream families, realism, and valuing the spouse to increase their marital quality. According to the findings, firstly marital quality should be investigated and addressed according to its context. Secondly, marital quality should be scrutinized as a micro variable with considering the main actors of family, namely “wife and husband”

Objectives: Infertility presents extensive psychological effects on infertile couple’s marital life, especially in women during infertility treatment. Studying the essential psychological factors and their correlations on a large scale could rehabilitate the mental health of infertile women and facilitate the stressful process of infertility treatment. This systematic review aimed to study the literature and relationships among self-compassion, positive and negative affect, and marital quality in infertile women. Methods: To examine the considered association, a comprehensive literature search was performed to identify relevant articles in English and Persian published from 2000 to May 2020 and indexed in Pubmed, Google Scholar, Scopus, Science Direct, Jstore, Cochrane Library, Medline, SID, Irandoc, Civilica, and Magiran. The study eligibility criteria included only infertile couples/women who were clinically diagnosed with infertility. The measurement tools used by studies consisted of at least one of the following: Self-Compassion Scale (SCS); Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS); Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale (RDAS), and infertility-related questionnaires. The search strategy of this review was per PICO (Population, Intervention, Control, and Outcomes) and included the terms Self-Compassion (SC), Positive and Negative Affect (PANA), and Marital Quality (MQ) in infertile women. To identify further eligible studies, the bibliographies of primary articles were manually searched to meet the inclusion criteria. The quality of studies was graded by GRADE from the Cochrane handbook. The studies were investigated concerning design, risk of bias, inconsistency, indirectness, imprecision, and publication. Results: SC could play a mediating role in the relationship with PANA, and MQ in infertile women undergoing infertility treatment. Discussion: This systematic review highlighted the importance of addressing psychological characteristics which can affect the biopsychological health of infertile women undergoing infertility treatment.

Mothers rearing children with intellectual disability experience excessive distress as they have to take extra care of the child and needs to invest more time in meeting the day-to-day needs of the child. This impacts their marital quality as they are left with less time to focus on their relationship. Therefore, it becomes essential for mothers having children with disability to develop psychological hardiness in order to combat the originated stressors. The present study aims to see whether any significant difference exists between psychological hardiness and marital quality in mothers having children with and without intellectual disability. For this purpose, the data was collected from (N=50) mothers having children with intellectual disability and (N=50) mothers having children without intellectual disability. In the present study, purposive sampling was used. Psychological Hardiness Scale by Kobasa and Maddi (1984) and Martial Quality Scale by Shah (1991, 1995) were used in the present study. Data were analyzed using inferential statistics such as an Independent sample t-test and Pearson product-moment correlation. A significant difference exists between the two groups in marital quality and various dimensions of psychological hardiness. But no significant relationship is seen between psychological hardiness and marital quality among the two groups. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
