Background Limited data are available for postpartum hypertension prediction after preeclampsia. Methods and Results We examined the association between maternal serum chemerin levels in patients with preeclampsia and blood pressure (BP) levels after delivery in a prospective birth cohort of 15 041 singleton pregnant women. A total of 310 cases among 322 patients with preeclampsia (follow-up rate, 96.3%) were followed up during a mean 2.8 years after delivery. Compared with matched uncomplicated controls (n=310), serum chemerin measured at ≈35 gestational weeks was significantly increased in preeclampsia (171.8±49.2 versus 140.2±53.5 ng/mL; P <0.01) and positively correlated with the occurrence of postpartum hypertension, defined as either BP ≥130/80 mm Hg (per 1-SD increase: odds ratio [OR], 4.01 [95% CI, 2.77-5.81]) or as BP ≥140/90 mm Hg (per 1-SD increase: OR, 1.70 [95% CI, 1.28-2.25]) in patients with preeclampsia. The addition of chemerin levels improved the predictive performance of the clinical variable-derived prediction models for postpartum hypertension (for BP ≥130/80 mm Hg: area under the curve, 0.903 [95% CI, 0.869-0.937], Δ area under the curve, 0.070, P <0.001; for BP ≥140/90 mm Hg: area under the curve, 0.852 [95% CI, 0.803-0.902], Δ area under the curve, 0.030, P =0.002). The decision curve analysis revealed a net benefit of the chemerin-based prediction model for postpartum BP ≥130/80 mm Hg. Conclusions This study provides the first evidence supporting the independent predictive role of third-trimester maternal chemerin levels for postpartum hypertension after preeclampsia. Future study is warranted for external validation of this finding.

An arc array synthetic aperture radar (AA-SAR) is a new type of omnidirectional observation and imaging system. Based on linear array 3D imaging, this paper introduces a keystone algorithm combined with the arc array SAR 2D imaging method and proposes a modified 3D imaging algorithm based on keystone transformation. The first step is to discuss the target azimuth angle, retain the far-field approximation method of the first-order term, analyze the influence of the forward motion of the platform on the along-track position, and realize the two-dimensional focusing of the target slant range-azimuth direction. The second step is to redefine a new azimuth angle variable in the slant-range along-track imaging and use the keystone-based processing algorithm in the range frequency domain to eliminate the coupling term generated by the array angle and the slant-range time. The corrected data are used to perform along-track pulse compression to obtain the focused image of the target and realize the three-dimensional imaging of the target. Finally, in this article, the spatial resolution of the AA-SAR system in the forward-looking state is analyzed in detail, and the change in the spatial resolution of the system and the effectiveness of the algorithm are verified through simulation.

Proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) is a ubiquitous and fundamental process in biochemistry and electrochemistry performed by transition-metal complexes. Most synthetic efforts have been devoted to selecting the components, that is, metal ions and ligands, to control the proton-electron coupling. Here, we show the first example of controlling the proton-electron coupling using the cis - trans metal-ligand isomerization in a π-planar platinum complex, Pt(itsq) 2 (itsq 1- : o -iminothiosemiquinonate). Both the isomers, which were obtained separately, were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and the cis -to- trans isomerization was achieved by immersing in organic solvents. Theoretical calculations predicted that the proton-electron coupling evaluated from the energetic stabilization of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital by protonation varies greatly depending on the geometrical configuration compared to the metal substitution.

Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) refers to abnormal glucose tolerance that occurs or is firstly diagnosed during pregnancy. GDM is related to various adverse pregnancy outcomes, but GDM pathogeny has not been fully elucidated. Nevertheless, previous studies have observed that many proteins in the placentas of patients with GDM are dysregulated. The present study aimed to establish a novel differentially expressed protein (DEP) landscape of GDM and normal maternal placentas and to explore the possible connection between DEPs and GDM pathogenesis. This study provides new insights into the mechanism of GDM and should make an important contribution to the development of biomarkers., Methods: The morphological characteristics of the placenta were observed on 30 GDM and normal maternal placental tissues stained with haematoxylin and eosin. Isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation (iTRAQ) was used in the proteomics screening of the DEPs of the normal and GDM maternal placentas. Bioinformatics analysis was performed on the DEPs, and parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) was performed to verify the DEPs. Finally, the quantitative analysis of iTRAQ and PRM was verified by immunohistochemical assay., Results: A total of 68 DEPs in the GDM placenta were identified with iTRAQ proteomics experiment, comprising 21 up-regulated and 47 down-regulated DEPs. Bioinformatics analysis showed that the regulation of transport, catabolic process of non-coding RNA, cytoskeleton and cell binding were the most abundant Gene Ontology terms, and RNA degradation was an important pathway for significant enrichment. Protein-protein interaction network analysis showed that heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins A2/B1 (HNRNPA2B1), heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A/B (HNRNPAB), heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein L (HNRNPL) and heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A3 (HNRNPA3) were the cores of the up-regulated proteins. Band 3 anion transport protein (SLC4A1), spectrin beta chain erythrocytic (SPTB), ankyrin-1 (ANK1), spectrin beta chain non-erythrocytic 2 (SPTBN2), D-3-phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH) and exosome complex component RRP42 (EXOSC7) were the cores of the down-regulated proteins. These proteins are involved in the binding, splicing, processing, transport and degradation of RNA and in the formation and maintenance of the cytoskeleton. PRM verification results showed that seven proteins, namely, epiplakin (EPPK1), cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRBP), HNRNPA2B1, HNRNPAB, HNRNPL, Ras-related protein Rab-21 (RAB21) and Ras-related protein Rab-3B (RAB3B), were up-regulated, whereas SPTB and SLC4A1 were down-regulated. The results of immunohistochemical assay also showed that the expression of five proteins, namely EPPK1, HNRNPA2B1, HNRNPAB, CIRBP and RAB21, were significantly higher in GDM placental tissues (P < 0.01). The GDM placentas showed changes in the morphological evaluation, including poor villous maturation, obvious increase in the number of syncytiotrophoblast nodules, thickening of the wall of dry villous arterioles with lumen stenosis, increased fibrinous exudation and excessive filling of villous interstitial vessels., Discussion: Differentially expressed proteins related to a variety of biological processes in the GDM placenta were found. The reactions of education systems to the global lockdowns implemented during the COVID-19 epidemic highlighted that there remain questions regarding how everyday technologies might be used to support mass education. This paper draws on Conversation Analysis in online textual communication to study key features of mobile text communication by analysing book discussions among adult students of an online reading programme. We captured and analysed three patterns of interaction (i.e., single linear conversations; intertwined conversations; trunk-branch conversations) as to their affordances for educational communication. This study shows that synchronous text has distinctive communicative features, including short text exchanges and various turn-taking patterns, which are different to the elaborated forms of discourse expected in schools. Though "disorder" and "messiness" accompanied the interactions, we take them as opportunities rather than challenges of education and suggest that appropriate pedagogic design may enable teachers to utilise this distinctiveness to develop various learning environments.

Proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) of metal complexes has been widely studied, especially in biochemistry and catalytic chemistry. Although metal complexes bearing redox-active ligands play a part in these research areas, those with π-planar structure remain entirely unexplored, which are vital for future development of iono-electronics. Here, proton-electron coupling of a π-planar nickel complex bearing redox-active N,S-ligands, Ni(itsq) 2 , was investigated by combining experimental and theoretical approaches. Strong proton-electron coupling was manifested in a large potential shift, which is twice greater than that of a typical PCET-type π-planar metal complex with redox-inactive ligands, [Ni(dcpdt) 2 ] 2- . Theoretical calculations affirmed that the stabilization of frontier orbitals by protonation is greater in Ni(itsq) 2 than that in [Ni(dcpdt) 2 ] 2- . Arc array synthetic aperture radar (AA-SAR), which can observe the scene in all directions, breaks through the single view of traditional SAR. However, the concealment of AA-SAR is poor. To mitigate this, arc array bistatic SAR (AA-BiSAR) with the moving transmitter is proposed, it has the advantages of good concealment and can expand the imaging scene, and improve the flexibility of the system. The imaging geometry including the signal model is established, and a range frequency-domain algorithm based on keystone transform (KT) is proposed in this paper. In the first step, the slant range equation is approximated by Taylor series expansion to compensate for the residual phase caused by the transmitter motion. In the second step, the range cell migration between the range and azimuth is eliminated through the KT method in the range frequency-domain. In the third step, using the data after range cell migration correction in step 2, an azimuth pulse compression is performed to obtain the focused image. In addition, the spatial resolution of the AA-BiSAR system is analyzed in detail. Finally, three simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and the change in the spatial resolution.

The efficient regeneration of corneal nerves is of limited success in the field of ophthalmology. This work reports the use of a non-invasive electrical stimulation technique that uses a transparent graphene-based corneal stimulation electrode and that can achieve efficient regeneration of corneal nerves. The corneal stimulation electrode is prepared using electroactive nitrogen-containing conducting polymers such as polyaniline functionalized graphene (PAG). This composite can carry a high capacitive current. It can be used to tune transmembrane signaling pathways including calcium channels and the MAPK signaling pathway. Tuning can lead to the efficient regeneration of corneal damaged nerves after the surgery of laser in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK). In this study we aimed to develop novel ZnO-NP/chitosan/β-glycerophosphate (ZnO-NP/CS/β-GP) antibacterial hydrogels for biomedical applications. According to the mass fraction ratio of ZnO-NPs to chitosan, mixtures of 1, 3, and 5% ZnO-NPs/CS/β-GP were prepared. Using the test-tube inversion method, scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, the influence of ZnO-NPs on gelation time, chemical composition, and cross-sectional microstructures were evaluated. Adding ZnO-NPs significantly improved the hydrogel's antibacterial activity as determined by bacteriostatic zone and colony counting. The hydrogel's bacteriostatic mechanism was investigated using live/dead fluorescent staining and scanning electron microscopy. In addition, crystal violet staining and MTT assay demonstrated that ZnO-NPs/CS/β-GP exhibited good antibacterial activity in inhibiting the formation of biofilms and eradicating existing biofilms. CCK-8 and live/dead cell staining methods revealed that the cell viability of gingival fibroblasts (L929) cocultured with hydrogel in each group was above 90% after 24, 48, and 72 h. These results suggest that ZnO-NPs improve the temperature sensitivity and bacteriostatic performance of chitosan/β-glycerophosphate (CS/β-GP), which could be injected into the periodontal pocket in solution form and quickly transformed into hydrogel adhesion on the gingiva, allowing for a straightforward and convenient procedure. In conclusion, ZnO-NP/CS/β-GP thermosensitive hydrogels could be expected to be utilized as adjuvant drugs for clinical prevention and treatment of peri-implant inflammation.

Background: Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) has been shown to be related to early childhood caries (ECC). However, data on the relationship, if any, between IDA-associated factors and ECC remain scant. This study aimed to explore the interplay between IDA-associated factors and ECC., Methods: This study randomly sampled a total of 1598 children in Qingdao city, and analyzed the severity of ECC using decayed-missing-filled teeth index, while the rate of caries was analyzed following the WHO recommendations. The correlation between IDA and ECC was analyzed by both the chi-square test and Mann-Whitney U test. In addition, we designed an electronic questionnaire and employed the disordered multi-classification logistic regression to interrogate the relationship between the IDA-associated factors and ECC., Results: Children with IDA had higher rates and severe ECC than those without IDA (p < 0.001). Children who were breastfed until 2 years old had a higher risk of IDA and ECC, compared to those who were not {OR 3.453 (1.681-7.094)}. Compared with children who had no history of IDA at the age of 2 years or below, those with IDA history had a higher risk of IDA and ECC {OR 8.762 (3.648-21.041)}. In addition, children who had a maternal history of IDA at pregnancy were at a higher risk of IDA and ECC compared to those who had no IDA history at pregnancy {OR 4.913 (2.934-8.226)}. Our data showed that children from a family with an annual income lower than 50,000 Renminbi (RMB) had a higher risk of IDA and ECC compared to those with an annual family income higher than 200,000 RMB {OR 3.421 (1.505-7.775)}. On the other hand, compared with children taking iron supplements, children who did not were at a higher risk of ECC and IDA {OR 5.602 (1.858-16.896)}., Conclusion: Factors such as low family income, history of IDA in children aged 2 years or younger, IDA history during pregnancy, children breastfed until 2 years old, and those not taking iron supplements were significantly associated with the occurrence of ECC and IDA., (© 2022. Therapeutic hypothermia (TH) is potentially an important therapy for central nervous system (CNS) trauma. However, its clinical application remains controversial, hampered by two major factors: (1) Many of the CNS injury sites, such as the optic nerve (ON), are deeply buried, preventing access for local TH. The alternative is to apply TH systemically, which significantly limits the applicable temperature range. (2) Even with possible access for 'local refrigeration', cold-induced cellular damage offsets the benefit of TH. Here we present a clinically translatable model of traumatic optic neuropathy (TON) by applying clinical trans-nasal endoscopic surgery to goats and non-human primates. This model faithfully recapitulates clinical features of TON such as the injury site (pre-chiasmatic ON), the spatiotemporal pattern of neural degeneration, and the accessibility of local treatments with large operating space. We also developed a computer program to simplify the endoscopic procedure and expand this model to other large animal species. Moreover, applying a cold-protective treatment, inspired by our previous hibernation research, enables us to deliver deep hypothermia (4 °C) locally to mitigate inflammation and metabolic stress (indicated by the transcriptomic changes after injury) without cold-induced cellular damage, and confers prominent neuroprotection both structurally and functionally. A reversible transformation between 1D, 2D, and 3D is demonstrated for the first time in coordination polymers comprising Cu II ions and bidentate terephthalate (BDC 2- ). 1D uniform chains were reversibly transformed into 2D layers with the construction of Cu-paddlewheels by eliminating water molecules. 2D/3D reversible transformation was achieved by removing/rebinding N,N-dimethylformamide coordinated to the paddlewheels. These dimensional transformations significantly changed chemical and physical properties such as gas sorption and magnetism. Although the uptake in open-framework 1D and 2D Cu-BDC was insignificant, pronounced absorption was observed for 3D Cu-BDC. Drastic difference in magnetic behavior is consistent with their coordination structures; uniform 1D chain of Cu II in 1D Cu-BDC and 2D sheet based on Cu II -paddlewheel dimers in 2D Cu-BDC. The efficient electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) to carbon monoxide (CO) using renewable energy is an effective route to pursue carbon neutrality. Optimizing the binding energy of CO on palladium (Pd) metal-based materials used in this process is to make sure the timely desorption of CO from their active sites is critical. Tuning the electronic structure of the Pd center is an effective strategy to optimize its catalytic performance. Herein, we rationally design Pd nanoparticles (NPs)/polymeric carbon nitride (CN) (Pd/CN) composite, which alters the electronic structure of Pd by introducing the interfacial polarization effect to accelerate CO desorption and improve CO selectivity of Pd catalyst. The optimized Pd/CN exhibits a CO Faradaic efficiency of 92.7% at -0.9 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in CO 2 -saturated 0.1 M KHCO 3 solution. Experimental investigations and theoretical calculations jointly confirm that the enhanced CO selectivity and stability originate from the electron transfer at the Pd/CN interface, and the weakened *CO adsorption on the palladium hydride surface.

Heart failure (HF) is one of the main public health problems at present. Although some breakthroughs have been made in the treatment of HF, the mortality rate remains very high. However, we should also pay attention to improving the quality of life of patients with HF. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a long history of being used to treat HF. To demonstrate the clinical effects and mechanisms of TCM, we searched published clinical trial studies and basic studies. Nitrate (NO 3 - ) as a common pollutant of groundwater causes drinking water safety problems and seriously endangers people's health. Electrochemical reduction of nitrate to ammonia under ambient condition is a green and significant route to reduce the concentration of NO 3 - and produce ammonia (NH 3 ), known as a complement to the Haber-Bosch reaction. Currently, noble-metal electrocatalysts are often used in electrochemical reduction of NO 3 - , but high cost and scarcity limited their application. Herein, three-dimensional (3D) flower-like zinc cobaltite (ZnCo 2 O 4 ) electrocatalyst was developed to convert nitrate into ammonia at room temperature. The NH 3 yield rate could reach up to around 2100 μg mg -1  h -1 at a potential of -0.6 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), which was around 2.0 times higher than that of pristine Co 3 O 4 . In addition, the NH 3 faradaic efficiency of ZnCo 2 O 4 electrocatalyst could reach around 95.4 % at potential of -0.4 V vs. RHE with good structural and morphological stability, which surpassed most reported non-noble metal-based electrocatalysts. Further studies concluded that the improved activity of electrocatalytic NO 3 - reduction was ascribed to the existence of abundant active sites and the charge transfer from Co atoms to Zn atoms after Zn doping. Objective: Functional connectivity density (FCD) mapping was used to investigate abnormalities and factors related to brain functional connectivity in cortical regions of patients with dysthyroid optic neuropathy (DON) and to analyze the pathogenesis of DON further., Methods: Patients diagnosed with thyroid-associated opthalmology (TAO) in the Eye Hospital were enrolled. All patients underwent comprehensive eye examinations and best-corrected visual acuity, visual field (VF) test. MRI data collection and analysis were completed in the 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University. The patients were divided into 2 groups: the DON group, with an average VF, mean deviation (MD) of both eyes < -5 dB, and the non-DON group (nDON group), with an average VF MD of both eyes ≥ -2 dB., Results: A total of 30 TAO patients (14 men, 16 women) with complete data who met the experimental requirements were enrolled. The average age was 48.79 (40-57) years. There were 16 patients in the DON group and 14 patients in the nDON group. No significant differences in age, gender, education level, and the maximum horizontal diameter of either medial rectus muscle were found between the 2 groups. The difference of brain FCD between the 2 groups showed significant abnormal connectivity in the right orbital gyri of the frontal lobe (Frontal&#95;Inf&#95;Orb&#95;R) and the left precuneus in the DON group compared with the nDON group. As demonstrated by decreased FCD values in the right inferior frontal gyrus/orbital part, the relevant brain regions were the left middle temporal gyrus, left precuneus, left middle frontal gyrus, right postcentral gyrus, and brain gyri (excluding the supramarginal gyrus and angular gyrus) below the left parietal bone. The FCD associated with the left precuneus was increased, and the relevant brain areas were the left middle temporal gyrus, right cuneus, superior occipital gyrus, and right fusiform gyrus. A significant correlation was identified between the MD of the binocular VF and brain FCD., Conclusion: The abnormal FCD in the cortex of DON patients suggests that a central nervous system mechanism may be related to the pathogenesis of the DON., (© 2021 The Author(s) Published by S. Titania (TiO 2 ) nanomaterials have been proved to be biocompatible sonosensitizers for sonodynamic therapy (SDT) of various cancer cells, while they suffer from weak sonodynamic effects due to fast combination of excited carriers. In this work, to improve the therapeutic efficiency, we prepared PEGylated Nb-doped TiO 2 (TiO 2- x :Nb) nanoparticles by a simple solvothermal method and a subsequent surface modification process. The TiO 2- x :Nb nanoparticles exhibited an average size of 11 nm and a polydisperse index of 0.12. The Nb doping had no obvious effect on the phase of TiO 2 matrixes but released electrons to the conduction band of TiO 2 , resulting in high concentrations of deficiencies. As a result, the TiO 2- x :Nb nanoparticles exhibited a higher efficiency of singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) generation than that of pure TiO 2 nanoparticles upon ultrasound irradiation. Importantly, the TiO 2- x :Nb nanoparticles had high biocompatibility similar to pure TiO 2 nanoparticles, while they could efficiently produce cytotoxic 1 O 2 to destroy cancer cells in vitro in comparison to the partially destroyed cancer cells by pure TiO 2 nanoparticles upon ultrasound irradiation. More importantly, the TiO 2- x :Nb nanoparticles displayed obvious tumor cellular injury in tumor-bearing mice in vivo through high SDT effects. Therefore, the synthesized PEGylated TiO 2- x :Nb nanoparticles in this study exhibited higher therapeutic effects of SDT than that of the pure TiO 2 nanoparticles, and the doping strategy would provide some insights for tuning traditional weak sonosensitizers into efficient ones., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts to declare., (This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.)

Purpose: To investigate whether the severity of symptoms of visual fatigue might be associated with clinical visual measures and basic visual functions, such as accommodation, vergence, and contrast sensitivity., Methods: In this study, 104 students were recruited (25 males, 79 females, Age 23.4 ± 2.5) for this study. Those with high myopia, strabismus, anisometropia, eye disease or history of ophthalmological surgery were excluded. The included subjects completed a questionnaire that assesses the severity of visual fatigue. Then, binocular accommodative facility, vergence facility and contrast sensitivity using a quick contrast sensitivity function approach were measured in a random sequence. Next, the correlations between each symptom of visual fatigue in the questionnaire and accommodative facility, vergence facility and contrast sensitivity were examined., Results: Factor analysis indicated that visual fatigue, as captured by the scores of a subset of the questionnaire items, could be strongly related to binocular accommodative facility and binocular contrast sensitivity, but not to vergence facility. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a vital role in a variety of biological functions in plant growth and development. In this study, we provided an overview of the molecular mechanisms of lncRNAs in interacting with other biomolecules with an emphasis on those lncRNAs validated only by low-throughput experiments. LncRNAs function through playing multiple roles, including sponger for sequestering RNA or DNA, guider or decoy for recruiting or hijacking transcription factors or peptides, and scaffold for binding with chromatin modification complexes, as well as precursor of microRNAs or small interfering RNAs. These regulatory roles have been validated in several plant species with a comprehensive list of 73 lncRNA-molecule interaction pairs in 16 plant species found so far, suggesting their commonality in the plant kingdom. We modified the conventional etching-optical method to measure dislocation direction in a KDP crystal. As burgers vector of dislocation in the KDP crystal must match the minimum periodic vector of the crystal lattice, we suggest that dislocations with a burgers vector of [101], [102] and [103] exist. Atomic force microscopy was employed to characterize the morphology of growth spirals on the hillock of (101) faces. Multi-spirals consisting of more than two element steps with a height of 0.5 nm which is equal to (101) face interplanar distances were observed. We propose the multi-spiral structure is determined by the burgers vector of the corresponding dislocation, and constructed a geometric model of the crystal with screw dislocation to derive the relationship. Growth spirals on the (101) face present a particular triangular morphology and we proved that the triangle structure is formed by connected steps in the 1/2[111] and [010] direction. Micropipes form when the magnitude of the dislocation's burgers vector exceeds 1 nm, as predicted by BCF theory. Electrochemically reducing carbon dioxide (CO 2 RR) to ethylene is one of the most promising strategies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and simultaneously produce high value-added chemicals. However, the lack of catalysts with excellent activity and stability limits the large-scale application of this technology. In this work, a graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 )-supported Cu 2 O composite was fabricated, which exhibited a 32.2 % faradaic efficiency of C 2 H 4 with a partial current density of -4.3 mA cm -2 at -1.1 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode in 0.1 m KHCO 3 electrolyte. The introduction of g-C 3 N 4 support not only enhanced the uniform dispersion of Cu 2 O nanocubes, but also stabilized the important *CO intermediates. Moreover, the g-C 3 N 4 itself had a good activity of reducing CO 2 to form *CO, which enriched the key intermediates of C-C coupling around cuprous oxide. The findings highlight the importance of the g-C 3 N 4 support, a unique two-dimensional material, including not only the strong CO 2 adsorption and activation capacity but also its synergistic effect with the cuprous oxide in CO 2 RR selectivity., (© 2020 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important functional roles in many diverse biological processes. However, not all expressed lncRNAs are functional. Thus, it is necessary to manually collect all experimentally validated functional lncRNAs (EVlncRNA) with their sequences, structures, and functions annotated in a central database. The first release of such a database (EVLncRNAs) was made using the literature prior to 1 May 2016. Since then (till 15 May 2020), 19 245 articles related to lncRNAs have been published. In EVLncRNAs 2.0, these articles were manually examined for a major expansion of the data collected. Specifically, the number of annotated EVlncRNAs, associated diseases, lncRNA-disease associations, and interaction records were increased by 260%, 320%, 484% and 537%, respectively. Moreover, the database has added several new categories: 8 lncRNA structures, 33 exosomal lncRNAs, 188 circular RNAs, and 1079 drug-resistant, chemoresistant, and stress-resistant lncRNAs. All records have checked against known retraction and fake articles. This release also comes with a highly interactive visual interaction network that facilitates users to track the underlying relations among lncRNAs, miRNAs, proteins, genes and other functional elements. Furthermore, it provides links to four new bioinformatics tools with improved data browsing and searching functionality. The synergistic catalytic effect in a hetero-trimetallic catalytic monolayer is one of the intriguing topics because the additive effects of the second or third component play an important role in improving the activity. In this paper, a new Schiff-base organometallic nanosheet containing Pd/Fe/Ru immobilized on graphene oxide (GO@H-Pd/Fe/Ru) was prepared and characterized. The catalytic performance of GO@H-Pd/Fe/Ru and synergistic effect were systematically investigated. GO@H-Pd/Fe/Ru was found to be an efficient catalyst with higher turnover frequency (TOF) (26 892 h -1 ) and stability with recyclability of at least 10 times in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction. The deactivation mechanism was caused by the aggregation of the active species, loss of the active species, the changes of the organometallic complex, and active sites covered by adsorbed elements during the catalytic process. GO@H-Pd/Fe/Ru was a heterogeneous catalyst, as confirmed by kinetic studies with in situ FT-IR, thermal filtration tests and poisoning tests. The real active center containing Pd, Ru and Fe arranged as Fe(iii)-Ru(iii)-Pd(ii)-Fe(iii) was proposed. Although Ru(iii) and Fe(iii) were shown to be less active or inactive, the addition of Fe and Ru could effectively improve the entire activity by their ''indirect'' function, in which Fe or Ru made Pd more negative and more stable. The ensemble synergistic effect between metals, the ligand and support was described as a process in which the electron was transferred from GO via ligand to Ru, and then to Pd or from Fe to Pd to make Pd more negative, promoting the oxidation addition with aryl halide. This article reports the fabrication of a smart biomimetic enzyme system, which incorporates a pH-responsive chemodynamic therapy (CDT) combined with a photothermal (PTT) therapy approach in resolving the high recurrence rate of deadly cancers. The resulting enzyme system comprises copper sulfide (CuS) nanoparticle (NP) cores as Fenton-like catalysts, and a photothermal-active generation 5 poly(amidoamine) (G5) dendrimer as a template for the entrapment of Cu NPs and the compression of glucose oxidase (GOD). GOD is introduced to produce H 2 O 2 necessary in the sequential Fenton-like reaction, and this generates hydroxyl radicals that kill the cancerous cells. Polyethylene glycol is added to the system to improve biocompatibility. Mechanism study suggests that the constructed CuS/G5-GOD-based system has a better Fenton-like catalytic activity than a Fe 3 O 4 -GOD-based system. This allows the further inhibition on the residual tumors from recurrence and metastasis through CDT after being treated by PTT. The developed smart nanoscale biomimetic system shows high efficiency for breast cancer suppression from recurrence and metastasis by combining PTT with a pH-responsive CDT. Objectives: This study aimed to systematically evaluate the effects of constraint-induced aphasia therapy (CIAT) for aphasic patients reported by randomized controlled trials., Methods: Relevant randomized controlled trials were retrieved from 11 electronic databases. A methodological quality assessment was conducted in accordance with the Cochrane Handbook, and meta-analyses were performed by using RevMan 5.2. A descriptive analysis was conducted when the included trials were not suitable for a meta-analysis., Results: A total of 12 trials were included. A statistically significant group difference was shown from the meta-analysis in the results measured by the Western Aphasia Battery (random-effects model, MD  = 1.23, 95% CI = 0.31 to 2.14, P  < 0.01). However, there were no statistically significant differences shown in the results of the Boston Naming Test (fixed-effects model, MD  = -1.79, 95% CI = -11.19 to 7.62, P  > 0.05) and Aachen Aphasia Test (fixed-effects model, MD  = -1.11, 95% CI = -4.49 to 2.27, P  > 0.05). The descriptive analysis showed positive results in language performances of naming, repetition, and comprehension., Conclusion: This systematic review indicated that CIAT was efficient for improving language performance with regard to naming, comprehension, repetition, written language, and oral language based on the current evidence. And this review provides some meaningful guides for clinical practice: expand the therapy duration to 2 or 3 h per day, focus on naming, and choose the best assessment tool. Electrochemical conversion of CO 2 into valuable products by utilizing renewable electricity is a thriving research field. For electrochemical reduction of CO 2 to CO, uniform sponge-like porous Ag nanocubes (SPC-Ag) integrated on carbon paper are prepared by using an electrochemically driven method. The SPC-Ag has a 3 D porous structure and a large specific surface area, which affords abundant active sites for the CO 2 reduction reaction (CO 2 RR), as well as reducing impedance to accelerate the CO 2 RR kinetics. This distinctive organization affords SPC-Ag with outstanding electrocatalytic performance for CO 2 reduction to CO. High faradaic efficiency (>90 %) and large partial current density for CO with excellent durability are observed in a wide potential window, with a maximum value of 93 % at -0.9 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode., (© 2020 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Transient numerical calculations were carried out to predict the evolution of temperature and thermal stress in traditionally grown large-size KDP crystals during the removal process, considering two methods that are used to accomplish the crystal extraction. The influence of the crystal size and the difference of temperature between the crystal and environment on the stresses inside the KDP crystals were also investigated in detail. Results indicate that, in both processes of isolating crystals, the highest stress transfers from the crystal periphery to the internal part from the early to the later time stage. In the case of extracting the crystal from solution directly after crystallization and exposing to air, the maximum stress at the crystal periphery is larger than that inside the crystal, and the probability of failure from the outside surface of crystals is large. In the case of retaining the solution for a time after crystallization, the maximum stress in the crystal internal region is larger than that of the crystal surface, leading to a large possibility to originate cracks in the inner region. Both increased crystal sizes and increased temperature differences between the crystals and the environment at the end of crystal growth are factors which aggravate crystal cracking. The maximum stress in crystals in the case of retaining the solution is less than that in the case of extracting the solution, which brings about a decreased likelihood of cracking. Interpenetrating network structures from Graphene foam (GF) and 58S bioactive glass (BG) are synthesized to combine the highly mechanical stability and conductivity from graphene with the superb bioactivity and biocompatibility from 58S BG. GF/58S BG scaffolds were prepared via multiple steps including chemical vapor deposition (CVD), spin-coating, and freeze drying methods. Simulated body fluid test confirms the highly bioactivity of the as-synthesized GF/58S BG scaffold after incorporating of sol-gel derived 58S BG. The GF/58S BG scaffold also remains good electrical conductivity of graphene after combination of 58S BG. Biocompatibility of both GF and GF/58S BG scaffold against the rabbit mesenchymal stem cells (rMSCs) is studied. Both GF and GF/58S BG scaffold facilitate the adhesion and extension of rMSCs, while the GF/58S BG scaffold shows a higher proliferation. Electrical stimulation was further applied on the both GF and GF/58S BG scaffold. Both scaffolds promote the osteogenic differentiation of rMSCs, while GF is more sensitive to the alternating electrical current. In vivo results based on the critical-sized radius defect rabbit model confirmed that the resulting GF/58S BG scaffold considerably promoted the formation of new bone. Our studies suggest that the assynthesized GF/58S BG scaffolds are the promising candidates for bone tissue engineering and electrically stimulated regeneration considering unique bioactive, biocompatible, conductive and stable properties of the resulting nanoscaffolds.

"Channel-like" self-assembled monolayers having aliphatic and aromatic diimines (denoted as Si@1DIS, Si@2DIS and Si@3DIS) immobilized on substrates and their palladacycle monolayers (Si@1DIS-Pd, Si@2DIS-Pd and Si@3DIS-Pd) were prepared and characterized. Their catalytic performances were investigated using the Suzuki coupling reaction as a model. Si@3DIS-Pd showed the highest catalytic activity in water without ligands, and better recyclability than that of Si@2DIS-Pd and Si@1DIS-Pd. The reason was the carbon in the aliphatic diimine of Si@2DIS-Pd and Si@1DIS-Pd was easily hydrolyzed because of the active hydrogen of α-C, resulting in poor recyclability. Control of the amount of catalyst could be achieved by modulating the diameter of the channel-like structure, which also affected the catalytic activity. The catalytic process and mechanism were investigated systematically and proposed based on the experimental results obtained by the water contact angle, ultraviolet spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and atomic force spectroscopy. Changes in the morphology of monolayer surfaces during the catalytic process with or without stirring presented a clear process from order to disorder, and indicated that the reaction was a heterogeneous catalytic process occurring on the surface of the catalyst monolayer., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts., (This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.)

The deep sea is one of the largest but least understood ecosystems on earth. Knowledge about the diversity and distribution patterns as well as drivers of microbial eukaryote (including ciliates) along the water column, particularly below the photic zone, is scarce. In this study, we investigated the diversity of pelagic ciliates, the main group of marine microeukaryotes, their vertical distribution from the surface to the abyssopelagic zone, as well as their horizontal distribution over a distance of 1,300 km in the Western Pacific Ocean, using high-throughput DNA and cDNA (complementary DNA) sequencing. No distance-decay relationship could be detected along the horizontal scale; instead, a distinct vertical distribution within the ciliate communities was revealed. The alpha diversity of the ciliate communities in the deep chlorophyll maximum (DCM) and the 200 m layer turned out to be significantly higher compared with the other water layers. The ciliate communities in the 200 m water layer appeared to be more similar to those in deeper layers from 1,000 m to about 5,000 m than to the surface and DCM ciliate communities. Dominant species in the bathypelagic and abyssopelagic zone, particularly some parasites, were also detected in the 200 m layer, but were almost absent in the surface layer. The 200 m layer, therefore, seems to be an important "species bank" for deep ocean layers. Statistical analyses further revealed significant effects of temperature and chlorophyll a on the partitioning of ciliate diversity, indicating that environmental factors are a stronger force in shaping marine pelagic ciliate communities than the geographic distance.

In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Abbottina rivularis was determined; the phylogenetic analysis with other individuals and closely related species of the gudgeons was carried out. The complete mitogenome of A. rivularis was 16,597 bp in length, which consists of 22 tRNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 2 non-coding regions: (D-loop and OL). The overall nucleotide composition of the A. rivularis mitogenome was A: 29.92%, T: 25.75%, G: 17.15% and C: 27.18%, respectively, with an A + T rich feature (57.1%). This study provides useful data to genetics, conservation and evolution study of the gudgeons.

An unexpected double Diels-Alder (DDA) reaction of (E)-2-bromo-4-aryl-1,3-pentadiene was developed and resulted in a series of "butterfly-like" bicyclo[2.2.2]octene derivatives in moderate to good yields without the need for a metal catalyst. The proposed mechanism involves a [1,5]-sigmatropic hydrogen migration and HBr elimination. Through this decisive [1,5]-hydrogen shift step, the electronic properties and steric hindrance of the conjugated diene substrate are completely altered and the DDA reaction of this potential diene synthon is successfully achieved., (© 2015 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Objective: To assess the application of autologous transplantation of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-mobilized peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMNCs) in the treatment of critical limb ischemia (CLI) of diabetic patients and to evaluate the safety, efficacy, and feasibility of this novel therapeutic approach., Research Design and Methods: Twenty-eight diabetic patients with CLI were enrolled and randomized to either the transplant group or the control group. In the transplant group, the patients received subcutaneous injections of recombinant human G-CSF (600 microg/day) for 5 days to mobilize stem/progenitor cells, and their PBMNCs were collected and transplanted by multiple intramuscular injections into ischemic limbs. All of the patients were followed up after at least 3 months., Results: At the end of the 3-month follow-up, the main manifestations, including lower limb pain and ulcers, were significantly improved in the patients of the transplant group. Their laser Doppler blood perfusion of lower limbs increased from 0.44 +/- 0.11 to 0.57 +/- 0.14 perfusion units (P < 0.001). Mean ankle-brachial pressure index increased from 0.50 +/- 0.21 to 0.63 +/- 0.25 (P < 0.001). A total of 14 of 18 limb ulcers (77.8%) of transplanted patients were completely healed after cell transplantation, whereas only 38.9% of limb ulcers (7 of 18) were healed in the control patients (P = 0.016 vs. the transplant group). No adverse effects specifically due to cell transplantation were observed, and no lower limb amputation occurred in the transplanted patients. In contrast, five control patients had to receive a lower limb amputation (P = 0.007, transplant vs. control group). Angiographic scores were significantly improved in the transplant group when compared with the control group (P = 0.003)., Conclusions: These results provide pilot evidence indicating that the autologous transplantation of G-CSF-mobilized PBMNCs represents a simple, safe, effective, and novel therapeutic approach for diabetic CLI.
