Abstract

Combinatorial optimization problems have several industrial applications such as Network routing, IOT network routing, path Planning for robotics and manufacturing for which the travelling Salesman Problem, TSP, can serve as typical test bench. This paper investigates new variants of the Fuzzy Ant Supervised by PSO, FAS-PSO and Simplified Ant Supervised by PSO, SAS-PSO coupled with a local search, Ls, mechanism. The proposed method is based on the Fuzzy PSO to supervise and tune ACO parameters, in addition to a local search mechanism helping in avoiding cities local crossing. The SAS-PSO-Ls uses the same idea while with the simplified PSO as supervisor. Experimentations (a space is missed before "Experimentations") and results are based TSP test benches with a statistical analysis and a comparative study with the standard AS-PSO and similar state of art methods. Abstract

This paper introduces a hierarchical Wireless Random Access scheme based on power control where intelligence is split among the mobile users in order to drive the outcome of the system towards an efficient point. The hierarchical game is obtained by introducing a special user who plays the role of altruistic leader whereas the other users assume the role of followers. We define the power control scheme in such a way that the leader_first chooses the lowest power to transmit its packets among N available levels whereas the followers re-transmit by randomly choosing a power level picked from N-1 higher distinct power levels. Using a 3D Markovian model, we compute the steady state of the system and derive the average system throughput and expected packet transmission delay. Our numerical results show that the proposed scheme considerably improves the global performance of the system avoiding the well known throughput collapse at high loads commonly characterizing most random channel access mechanisms. Abstract

The comparison between the feature-based method and the learning-based method is conducted in the training time, the accuracy and the generalization capacity, to address the optimisation for the multi-style fisheye imagery classification. We construct an srd-SIFT descriptor based SVM classifier to present the feature-based method for describing the influence of the dataset scale and the visual word scale on the classifier. The SVM classifier achieves 15.98% accuracy on the test set after 162 h training, with the condition that includes 800 images per class in 12 classes and 1500 visual words. For the learning-based method, we propose to expand training samples’ style variety, via style transformation, to facilitate the contemporary architecture retraining. Following this approach, we retrain the ResNet-50 by an artificial multi-style fisheye image dataset without complementing new training labels. The performance of the obtained ResNet classifier is evaluated on 6000 images collected in the real-world. The result shows that the retrained classifier has great generalization capacity and reaches 97.19% top-3 accuracy.

Abstract

Systems for automatic inspection of product quality are in high demand. However, their prevalence are limited by the expense and difficulty involved in their development. Since inspection systems must be engineered to specific products and environments such systems are generally only viable with long running/high volume product series. The expense and difficulty can be limited by carefully controlling the variation that can be encountered. If the variation can be limited, simple handcrafted algorithms may be enough, otherwise machine learning provides the more expensive and capable alternative. Inspired by human visual inspection of highly reflective brushed aluminium objects we capture sequences of images across multiple view points. This enables us to employ a spatio-temporal weighting of defects, where defects that occur consistently across view points are considered more severe. This is compared to the confidence scores produced by our defectdetector (YOLOv5). Both methods for weighting the severity of defects are then used to classify objects as either bad or ok. Our results show the challenges with training object detectors on a severely unbalanced and ambiguous dataset. Despite the poor detection performance and difficulty in distinguishing between desiredpatterns and defects, our method proves to classify our small test set with an area under the precision-recall curve of 0.665.

Abstract

This paper introduces a general stochastic game analysis of a network scenario consisting of a mix of cooperative and non-cooperative players (i.e., users) under incomplete game information. Users access a shared channel using the Slotted ALOHA mechanism combined with ZigZag Decoding (SAZD). Cooperative players seek to optimize the global utility of the system (e.g., throughput, delay, loss rate) regardless of their individual interests, whereas non-cooperative players act selfishly and optimize their own benefits irrespective of the impact of this behavior on others and on the entire network system. The game equilibrium is characterized by the social optimum and the Nash equilibrium, where the former is adopted by cooperative players and the latter is the equilibrium strategy of non-cooperative players. We undertake a comparative study across two game scenarios with different levels of cooperation and selfishness. Our results generally show that the information possessed by a player can determine the outcome. Furthermore, our findings show that the network performance is strongly influenced by selfish behavior, which can lead to a significant disruption of the entire system. Finally, we show a possible scenario in which the network could greatly benefit from this selfish behavior thanks to the ZigZag scheme. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

We present a team analysis of a slotted random wireless channel access mechanism. Under the proposed scheme, denoted wireless random access mechanism with multiple power levels (MPL-WRA), each mobile station contends for a transmission opportunity following the principles of a slotted access mechanism incorporating a random transmitting power value selected among various available power levels. In this way, a capture effect may be produced allowing the packet to be decoded whenever the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio is higher than a given threshold. In order to analyze the performance and optimization of the proposed setup, we build a Markovian model integrating the wireless access mechanism supplemented by the use of multiple power levels in an attractive and simple cross-layer fashion. We follow a team problem approach allowing us to fine tune the design parameters of the overall system configuration. Throughout an extensive numerical analysis, our main results set the basis for the social optimal system configuration of the proposed mechanism taking into account the physical constraints of using multiple power levels and the actual practical implementation of a slotted access mechanism. 574. Synthetic feature pairs dataset and siamese convolutional model for image matching.

Abstract

In a previous publication [1], we created a dataset of feature patches for detection model training. In this paper, we use the same patches to create a new large synthetic dataset of feature pairs, similar and different, in order to perform, thanks to a siamese convolutional model, the description and matching of the detected features. We thus complete the entire matching pipeline. The accurate manual labeling of image features being very difficult because of their large number and the various associated parameters of position, scale and rotation, recent deep learning models use the result of handcrafted methods for training. Compared to existing datasets, ours avoids model training with false detections of the extraction of feature patches by other algorithms, or with inaccuracy errors of manual labeling. The other advantage of synthetic patches is that we can control their content (corners, edges, etc.), as well as their geometric and photometric parameters, and therefore we control the invariance of the model. The proposed datasets thus allow a new approach to train the different matching modules without using traditional methods.
