Background: Since Heald proposed the total mesorectal excision (TME) procedure, the prognosis of patients with rectal cancer has been significantly improved. But Heald did not specifically describe the anterior surgical plane in female patients. And the surgical plane for mobilizing the anterior rectal wall during TME surgery in female patients remains controversial., Aim: To investigate the anatomy of the female pelvis and identify the optimal plane for mobilizing the anterior rectal wall., Methods: We retrospectively collected surgical procedure videos and clinical data of female patients diagnosed with middle or low rectal cancer who underwent the TME procedure between January 2020 and October 2022 across six hospitals. The patients were divided into two groups based on the surgical approach used to mobilize the anterior rectal wall: The experimental group was to open the peritoneum at the lowest point of the peritonea reflection and enter the plane for mobilizing, while the control group was cut at 0.5-1 cm above the peritoneal reflection and enter another plan. Then, we compared the preoperative and postoperative information between the two groups. We also dissected and observed ten adult female pelvises to analyze the anatomic structure and compare the entry plane between the two approaches. Finally, we researched the pathological structure between the rectum and the vagina., Results: Finally, 77 cases that met the criteria were included in our study. Our observations revealed that the experimental group underwent a smooth procedure, entering the plane amidst the mesorectal fascia and adventitia of the vagina, whereas the control group entered the plane between the vaginal adventitia and muscle layers. Compared to the control group, the experimental group showed a significant decrease in intraoperative bleeding [22.5 (19.5-50) mL vs 17 (5-20) mL, P = 0.01], as well as a shorter duration of hospitalization [9 (7-11.25) d vs 7 (6-10) d, P = 0.03]. Through the examination of surgical videos and cadaveric studies, we discovered that Denonvilliers' fascia is absent in females. Additionally, pathological sections further revealed the absence of Denonvilliers' fascia in females, with only loose connective tissue present between the mesorectal fascia and adventitia of the vagina., Conclusion: The plane amidst the mesorectal fascia and vaginal adventitia is the optimal surgical plane to mobilize the anterior rectal wall for female patients undergoing the TME procedure., Competing Interests: Conflict-of-interest statement: All the authors report no relevant conflicts of interest for this article., (©The Author(s) 2023. Background: Stroke and spinal cord injury are neurological disorders that cause disability and exert tremendous social and economic effects. Robot-assisted training (RAT), which may reduce spasticity, is widely applied in neurorehabilitation. The combined effects of RAT and antispasticity therapies, such as botulinum toxin A injection therapy, on functional recovery remain unclear. This review evaluated the effects of combined therapy on functional recovery and spasticity reduction., Materials and Methods: Studies evaluating the efficacy of RAT and antispasticity therapy in promoting functional recovery and reducing spasticity were systemically reviewed. Five randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included. The modified Jadad scale was applied for quality assessment. Functional assessments, such as the Berg Balance Scale, were used to measure the primary outcome. Spasticity assessments, such as the modified Ashworth Scale, were used to measure the secondary outcome., Results: Combined therapy improves functional recovery in the lower limbs but does not reduce spasticity in the upper or lower limbs., Conclusions: The evidence supports that combined therapy improves lower limb function but does not reduce spasticity. The considerable risk of bias among the included studies and the enrolled patients who did not receive interventions within the golden period of intervention are two major factors that should be considered when interpreting these results. Additional high-quality RCTs are required.

Two capacitive sensing units were designed, fabricated, and embedded into two corresponding fingerstalls through microelectronic and additive manufacturing with flexible materials and ergonomic considerations in this study. The sensing units were routed to an adaptor, which in turn was routed to a transmission port (comprising a signal converter and a Bluetooth module), realizing a wearable and wireless force sensing system for sports science applications as the objective. The collected capacitive signals were converted through a preliminarily established database, indicating local force distributions on finger segments. Practical examinations with badminton actions (forehand cross-net shots) were conducted by players to show the effectiveness of the proposed system as an application example. Statistical and quantified results reflected the visual observations on valid shots (67% and 39% for the professional and amateur players, respectively) and well-controlled racket-holding attitude (19.69% and 35.31% force application difference between the first two segments of the index finger of the professional and amateur player, respectively). These proved that the proposed system outperforms existing similar systems in the market and is able to not only classify players with different skill levels but also distinguish attitude stability and controllability, showing scientific evidence in sports science for the first time., (© 2022. Zinc tin oxide (Zn(1-x)Sn(x)O(y)) has been proposed as an alternative buffer layer material to the toxic, and light narrow-bandgap CdS layer in CuIn(1-x),Ga(x)Se(2) thin film solar cell modules. In this present study, synchrotron-based soft X-ray absorption and emission spectroscopies have been employed to probe the densities of states of intrinsic ZnO, Zn(1-x)Sn(x)O(y) and SnO(x) thin films grown by atomic layer deposition. A distinct variation in the bandgap is observed with increasing Sn concentration, which has been confirmed independently by combined ellipsometry-reflectometry measurements. These data correlate directly to the open circuit potentials of corresponding solar cells, indicating that the buffer layer composition is associated with a modification of the band discontinuity at the CIGS interface. Resonantly excited emission spectra, which express the admixture of unoccupied O 2p with Zn 3d, 4s, and 4p states, reveal a strong suppression in the hybridization between the O 2p conduction band and the Zn 3d valence band with increasing Sn concentration.

Purpose: To investigate the clinical results of compound cast post-core in maxillary molars., Methods: Compound cast post-core was used to repair maxillary molars which had wide defects in crowns and had difficulty in finding the common insert path., Results: Compound cast post-cores were used in 32 patients for 35 teeth. Full crown or fixed bridge were then fabricated. There was no post-core lost during a follow up of 1 to 5 years., Conclusions: Compound casting post-core not only solved the problem of making cast post-core in complex maxillary molars, but also improved the retention of these post-cores and strengthened the restorations by using the undercut area of the teeth.

The mature embryos of a Japonica rice, Guanglingxiangnuo, were used for the study on optimization of Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Several factors affecting the transformation were investigated and a suitable transformation system was set up. For this transformation system, the HRM medium, based on the MS medium, was suitable for inducing callus from rice mature embryos. The suitable time span of initial culture in this medium was 7-8 days before co-culturing with Agrobacterium and suitable medium for selection was CC medium. Using this transformation system, the Metr gene was introduced into Guanglingxiangnuo, and many transgenic plants were obtained. Most of these transgenic rice plants were confirmed by PCR technique and basta resistance, indicating the T-DNA had been integrated into the genome of transgenic rice plants.

Objective: To evaluate the implementation of public function and items of the centers of disease prevention and control (CDC)., Methods: 161 centers of disease prevention and control have been investigated by two-stage stratified sampling. The implementation analysis of public function and items of CDC is measured by multiplying average operational proportion and average operational degree., Results: (1) For investigated centers, the average rate of function implementation is 42.9%, with 56.0% at provincial level and 43.7% at city level, 41.3% for the county level, while 49.3% in east areas, 45.4% in middle areas and 35.3% in west areas. (2) Among all 7 functional items, the implemented rate of disease prevention and control is 54.3%, 65.8% for emergency treatment, 35.0% for epidemic situation report and information management of health relative factors, 31.3% for inspection and control of health risk factors, 39.1% for the laboratory examination and evaluation, 36.4% for health education and health promotion, and 56.7% for technological guidance and application study., Conclusion: The implemented degree of public function of CDC was generally lower, varied with regions and levels. Among 7 public functional items, the emergency treatment function had the highest implementation, with the lowest for the inspection and control of health relative factors.

Objective: To compare the human resources allocation of CDC in different areas and different levels., Methods: By stratified cluster sampling we get 70 CDC's manpower data, which come from different areas(east, middle part, west)and different levels (province, city, county)., Results: (1) The average number of CDC's staff is 62. (2)CDC of province level are understaffed by 15%, while CDC of county level are overstaffed by 3%, and CDC of county level are overstaffed by 12%. (3) Structure of age: The average age of CDC's staff is 62, people under 35 years old in CDC is 39.4%, people above 55 years old is 3.5% (4) Structure of education: People with graduate degree are only 0.8%, and people come from technicalsecondary school are 57.0%. (5) Structure of specialty: A majority of people's majors are clinical medicine, and the percent of people having a non-medical-major are 36.6%. (6) Area distributing. Distribution of average quality score of staff are imbalance in different areas, the average quality score of staff in east area are 1.07 times than that in middle area, and 1.12 times than that in west area.

Objective: To explicate the operational proportion of public function and items of the centers of disease prevention and control (CDC)., Methods: 161 CDC have been investigated by two-stage stratified sampling to provide the information about the operation of the public function and items of CDC., Results: (1) The average operational proportion investigated CDC is 71.7%, the province level 92.0%, the city level 73.7%, the county level 68.5%. East areas 76.5%, middle areas 71.5%, west areas 68.1%. (2) The operational proportion of disease prevention and control function and emergency treatment function were higher, but that of epidemic situation report and information management of health relative factor, inspection and control of health relative factor, and the laboratory examination and evaluation were lower., Conclusion: Public function and items were rather poorly carried out by the centers of prevention and control in China, especially those in middle and west areas, and those in counties.

Objective: To develop and demonstrate the reform steps of reestablishing disease prevention and control system of China., Methods: A model named "strategies of fulfilling public functions of disease prevention and control system of China" has been employed to develop reform steps. 154 centers for disease prevention and control (CDC) have been sampled to consult the opinions about the reform steps developed by research team., Results: To reestablish the disease prevention and control system of China, the following reform steps should be kept to: (1) increase government's attention to disease prevention and control, (2) insure feasible government investment to disease prevention and control, (3) increase the stability and efficiency of government financing, (4) reform management system to enhance the operation efficiency of the CDC, (5) revise labor regulation to attract and stabilize specialists, (6) be carefully to dispose the non-public-service now delivered by the CDC. The consent percent of all sampling CDC was 98.7%.

A metal-chelating piezoelectric (PZ) chip for direct detection and controlled immobilization of polyHis-tagged proteins has been demonstrated. The chip was prepared by covalently binding a hydrogel matrix complex of oxidized dextran and nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) ligand onto an activated alkanethiol-modified PZ crystal. The resulting chip effectively captured Ni2+ ions onto its NTA surface, as disclosed by the resonant frequency shift of the crystal and an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. The real-time frequency analysis revealed that the bare NTA chip was nonfouling, regenerable, and highly reusable during continuous repetitive injections of ion solutions and binding proteins. In addition, the chip displayed good long-term reusability and storage stability. The individual binding studies of a polyHis-tagged glutathione-S-transferase and its native untagged form on various metal-charged chips revealed that Co2+, Cu2+, and Ni2+ ions each had different immobilization ability on the NTA surface, as well as their binding ability and selectivity with the tagged protein. As a result, the tagged protein immobilized on the Ni2+-charged chip can actively be bound with its antibody and substrate. Further, the quantitative analyses of the tagged protein in crude cell lysate with a single Ni2+-charged chip and of its substrate with a protein-coated chip were also successfully demonstrated. Therefore, this study initiates the possibilities of oriented, reversible, and universal immobilization of any polyHis-tagged protein and its functional study using a real-time PZ biosensor.
