A survey by the Computer Petroleum Corp showed that while the wholesale price of diesel fuel fell by 12% between Oct 19 and Nov 2, 1993, the average price at truck stops have decreased by only 2%. These findings have prompted some industry analysts to conclude that fuel suppliers are keeping prices artificially high. As a result, the trucking industry is calling for federal investigations of price fixing by the oil industry. For their part, oil industry officials claimed that the high prices are due to distribution problems.
