This work presents a single-scan-processing approach to the problem of detecting and pre-classifying a radar target that may belong to different target classes. The proposed method is based on a hybrid of the maximum a posteriori (MAP) and Neyman-Pearson (NP) criteria and guarantees the desired constant false alarm rate (CFAR) behavior. The targets are modeled as subspace random signals having zero mean and given covariance matrix. Different target classes are discriminated based on their different signal subspaces, which are specified by their covariance matrices. Performance is investigated by means of numerical analysis and Monte Carlo simulation in terms of probabilities of false alarm, detection and classification. The extra signal-to-noise power ratio necessary to preclassify a target once a detection has occurred is also derived.

GRECO, E.M., et al.: Clinical Evaluation of Peak Endocardial Acceleration as a Sensor for Rate Responsive Pacing. An innovative control parameter for rate responsive (RR) pacing that uses a sensor to measure mechanical vibrations generated by the myocardium during the isovolumetric contraction phase (peak endocardial acceleration [PEA]), has been devised by SORIN Biomedica (BEST Living System). To assess the physiological sensitivity of the pacemaker sensor along with reliability of the algorithm to supply appropriate pacing rates three different relationships were examined (linear regression analysis): (1) recorded ΔPEA exercise steps against the calculated energy cost of exercise (MET), (2) exercise pacing rates against predicted values, and (3) ΔPEA against exercise pacing rates. Fifteen patients (meanage 68 ± 12 years) in NYHA Class I-II, implanted with the BEST Living System (Living 1 DDDR pacemaker) for advanced AVB and/or SSS, underwent one of the following maximal exercise stress protocols: bicycle (25 W, 2-minute steps) or Bruce or Chronotropic Assessment Exercise Protocol (CAEP). Pacing rates for each step were matched against those predicted by a reliable and tested custom software called Pacing Rate Profile Software (PRPS). The PRPS is based on the oxygen pulse reserve (OPR) method (OPR = VO2 reserve divided by heart rate reserve), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) formulas for calculating workload/metabolic requirements, and data derived from the Weber functional classes. On the basis of certain patient data the PRPS then supplies appropriate metabolic pacing rate profiles. In all 15 patients linear regression analysis ofΔPEA against MET, as evaluated during the exercise protocol steps, showed a high correlation(r = 0.97). Likewise, a high correlation was also obtained between PRPS predicted heart rates and exercise pacing rates(r = 0.96)and PEA against exercise pacing rates(r = 0.96). The results of this study show that, through PEA dynamic monitoring, the SORIN Best Living System produces physiological pacing rates that are significantly related to metabolic needs. This work deals with the problem of providing a statistical model of the backscattering from marine surface for low-grazing angle and high resolution radar systems. Based on the electromagnetic two-scale model, we analyzed both the amplitude and frequency modulations induced on the small-scale Bragg resonant waves by the large-scale surface tilt and advection, due to the swell presence. Evidence of marine clutter non-stationarity and the relationship between the variations of clutter texture, Doppler centroid and bandwidth have been investigated by processing measured data, recorded by the IPIX radar of McMaster University in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. Our results demonstrate that sea/lake clutter at different range resolutions is non-stationary and is better modeled by a hybrid AM/FM modulated process.

Literature (General) ,PN1-6790 - Abstract
The study focuses on the methods of alteration and overturning that influence functions of narration and testimony in Primo Levi’s Il sistema periodico (1975). In the short story Uranio, the character of Bonino is an unreliable storyteller as well as an overturned double of the writer. Bonino represents one of Levi’s obsessions, i.e., not being believed when telling the experience of prison and extermination camps. The effect of overturning also regards other aspects of Levi’s writing: as in the case of Elie Wiesel in the novel Barbara, published in the collection Le chant des morts (1966), in Uranio Levi distances himself from the use of memory that distorts its contents and crosses the borders of truth in order to describe survivors as heroes. In Levi’s works, such overturned doubles as Bonino reveal menacing risks and disturbing events. Conversely, the processes of alteration and distortion which can be inscribed to the character of Cerrato, in the short story Argento, better conform to the writer’s struggle for knowledge of the universe of extermination camps. Beside Bonino and Cerrato, the same comparison can be established between Doktor Müller of Vanadio and the chemical engineer Mertens of Auschwitz, città tranquilla (published in 1984 and included in the collection Racconti e saggi). These characters are based on people Levi really met or dealt with. By analyzing Vanadio and Auschwitz, città tranquilla, the study aims to show how, as for Mertens, overturning reveals a provocative hypothesis, while alteration contributes to ethical knowledge in the case of Müller. ginkgo ,biflavonoids - Abstract
The plant kingdom produces an overwhelming number of structurally diverse specialised metabolites. One of the less studied groups of specialised metabolites are flavonoid dimers known as biflavonoids, which consist of two identical or non-identical flavonoid units. They exhibit higher bioactivity than their monomeric subunits and are considered potential drugs in the pharmaceutical industry and potential antioxidants and antimicrobials in the food industry. However, it remains unclear why some plant species produce dimeric structures of flavonoids, under what conditions, and what role biflavonoids play in plant growth and development. In our project, we address such limitations by studying biflavonoids in Ginkgo biloba L., a so-called "living fossil" and a plant widely used in traditional medicine. It is one of the most characteristic plants. It possesses a number of fascinating characteristics, including a large genome, outstanding resistance/tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses, and dioecious reproduction, making it an ideal model species for biological studies. Its great tolerance to adverse environmental conditions is demonstrated by the fact that Ginko trees growing within 1-2 kilometres of Hiroshima since the atomic bomb explosion in 1945 were among the few living things in the area that survived the blast and were soon healthy again. This poster will provide an overview of the structure and biological activity of biflavonoids and explain why G. biloba is an ideal model for studying biflavonoids. We will also present the preliminary results of the recently launched project "Biflavonoids role in plants: Ginkgo biloba L. as a model system", funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ- UIP-2019-04-1018).

Saúde do trabalhador. Qualidade. Educação em Saúde. ,Science ,Social Sciences - Abstract

Pacing prevention algorithms have been introduced in order to maximize the benefits of atrial pacing in atrial fibrillation prevention. It has been demonstrated that algorithms actually keep overdrive atrial pacing, reduce atrial premature contractions, and prevent short-long atrial cycle phenomenon, with good patient tolerance. However, clinical studies showed inconsistent benefits on clinical endpoints such as atrial fibrillation burden. Factors which may be responsible for neutral results include an already high atrial pacing percentage in conventional DDDR, non-optimal atrial pacing site and deleterious effects of high percentages of apical ventricular pacing. Atrial antitachycardia pacing (ATP) therapies are effective in treating spontaneous atrial tachyarrhythmias, mainly when delivered early after arrhythmia onset and/or on slower tachycardias. Effective ATP therapies may reduce atrial fibrillation burden, but conflicting evidence does exist as regards this issue, probably because current clinical studies may be underpowered to detect such an efficacy. Wide application of atrial ATP may reduce the need for hospitalizations and electrical cardioversions and favorably impact on quality of life. Consistent monitoring of atrial and ventricular rhythm as well as that of ATP effectiveness may be extremely useful for optimizing device programming and pharmacological therapy.

Objective: To analyze the major impact variables in the opinion of nursing staff about the Quality Program of a teaching hospital. Methods: An exploratory-descriptive study was performed with 72 nursing staff. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaire containing 24 statements about the Quality Program; and the degree of agreement of the participants was expressed in a Likert scale. The collected data were analyzed by factor analysis and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The analysis grouped the statements in six factors. The Pearson's correlation coefficient defined a scale of influence of the variables within each factor, whose variable with the greatest impact in each factor is the priority issue for improving worker opinion about the Quality Program. The priority variables were to believe the Quality Program contributes to the hospital; to understand the program orientations; interest in hospital quality direction; and do not feel exhausted due to the program. Conclusion: These variables must be focused during the implementation and execution of Quality Program, as they have greater impact on improving opinion regarding the Quality Program and thus helping to increase compliance of the nursing staff to the program. - Abstract

Objective To analyze the nursing staff opinion about the continuous quality improvement program at a University Hospital. Methods A descriptive study designed as a case study, analyzing the quality program at a University Hospital, with the opinion of a sample stratified by nursing team category through a self-administered questionnaire, from May to July 2012. The answers were submitted to factor analysis, having the dialectical and historical materialism as the theoretical-methodological reference. Results The factor analysis grouped the variables in six factors: working conditions, approval, belongingness, tranquility, interpersonal relations, and private life. With the exception of the factor interpersonal relations, the answers revealed that workers do not have opinion about the proposed questions. Four of the six factors had a predominance of positive answers. Conclusion A high percentage of respondents was not aware of the implications of a quality program. The majority believed that the program influenced positively in their working conditions and in the interpersonal relationships at work and agree with the program; however, they did not feel part of the program, and were not at ease to develop these activities. They did not acknowledge the program interfering in their personal life.

Abstract Objective: to evaluate the work ability and health status of security guards at a public University. Methods: a cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study was carried with 119 security guards. The following instruments were used: Work Ability Index (WAI), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ, short), Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), Medical Outcomes Study (MOS), and Demand-Control-Support (DCS). Descriptive statistics were used to describe the study samples and the Spearman's coefficient correlation was performed to assess the WAI. Significance level was set at 5%. Results: samples were composed by men; the mean age was 54.9 years (SD=5.7); 80% had partners, and 75% had basic education. The majority (95%) had only one job, the average length of service was 24.8 years (SD=11), ranging from 3 to 43 years. 88.9% worked ≤40 hours and 75% did not work at night shift or rotating shifts. The average score given to work ability was good (40.7 points), with significant correlation to social support at work (p-value=0.002), health conditions (p-value=0.094), and depression symptoms (p-value=0.054). Conclusion: this study showed that many characteristics might affect the work ability scores. Considering the results, we note that healthy life habits and a reorganization of work environments should be encouraged.

- Abstract
Introduction: Cardiovascular disease remains the most common cause of death in the United States and most other Western nations. Among these deaths, sudden, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest claims approximately 1000 lives each day in the United States alone. Most of these cardiac arrests are due to ventricular fibrillation. Though highly reversible with the rapid application of a defibrillator, ventricular fibrillation is otherwise fatal within minutes, even when cardiopulmonary resuscitation is provided immediately. The overall survival rate in the United States is estimated to be less than 5 percent. Recent developments in automated-external-defibrillator technology have provided a means of increasing the rate of prompt defibrillation after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. After minimal training, nonmedical personnel (e.g., flight attendants and casino workers) are also able to use defibrillators in the workplace, with lifesaving effects. Nonetheless, such programs have involved designated personnel whose job description includes assisting persons who have had sudden cardiac arrest. Data are still lacking on the success of programs in which automated external defibrillators have been installed in public places to be used by persons who have no specific training or duty to act., Materials and Methods: All patients who had an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest between January 2003 and December 2004 and who received early defibrillation for ventricular fibrillation were included. We conducted a 24 months retrospective population-based analysis of the outcome in our population., Results: Over a 24 month period, 446 people had non-traumatic cardiac arrest, and in all of them it was observed to be ventricular fibrillation. In a very few cases, the defibrillator operators were good Samaritans, acting voluntarily. Eighty-nine patients (about 19%) with ventricular fibrillation were successfully resuscitated, including eighteen who regained consciousness before hospital admission., Conclusion: Automated external defibrillators deployed in readily accessible, well-marked areas, are really very effective in assisting patients with cardiac arrest. However, it's quite true that, in the cases of survivors, most of our users had good prior training in the use of these devices.
