Abstract

Let Hand Kbe complex separable infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces. Given relations E∈LB(H)and F∈LB(K), we define MX=EX0Fwith X∈LB(K,H)unknown. Based on the appropriate block form of MXand the representation of ΠMXMX, a necessary and sufficient condition is given for MXto be a Fredholm (resp. left Fredholm, right Fredholm, Weyl, left Weyl and right Weyl) relation for some X∈LB(K,H).Moreover, some relevant properties and illustrative examples are also presented.

554. Searching for Low Mass Dark Portal at the LHC

Abstract

Light dark matter with mass smaller than about 10 GeV is difficult to probe from direct detection experiments. In order to have the correct thermal relic abundance, the mediator of the interaction between dark matter and the Standard Model (SM) should also be relatively light, $\sim 10^2$ GeV. If such a light mediator couples to charged leptons, it would already be strongly constrained by direct searches at colliders. In this work, we consider the scenario of a leptophobic light $Z'$ vector boson as the mediator, and study the the prospect of searching for it at the 8 TeV Large Hadron Collider (LHC). To improve the reach in the low mass region, we perform a detailed study of the processes that the $Z'$ is produced in association with jet, photon, $W^\pm$ and $Z^0$. We show that in the region where the mass of $Z'$ is between 80 and 400 GeV, the constraint from associated production can be comparable or even stronger than the known monojet and dijet constraints. Searches in these channels can be complementary to the monojet search, in particular if the $Z'$ couplings to quarks ($g_{Z'}$) and dark matter ($g_D$) are different. For $g_D < g_{Z'}$, we show that there is a larger region of parameter space which has correct thermal relic abundance and a light $Z'$, $M_{Z'} \sim 100 $ GeV. This region, which cannot be covered by the mono-jet search, can be covered by the resonance searches described in this paper., Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

Supersymmetric SO(10) Grand Unified Theories with Yukawa unification represent an appealing possibility for physics beyond the Standard Model. However Yukawa unification is made difficult by large threshold corrections to the bottom mass. Generally one is led to consider models where the sfermion masses are large in order to suppress these corrections. Here we present another possibility, in which the top and bottom GUT scale Yukawa couplings are equal to a component of the charged lepton Yukawa matrix at the GUT scale in a basis where this matrix is not diagonal. Physically, this weak eigenstate Yukawa unification scenario corresponds to the case where the charged leptons that are in the 16 of SO(10) containing the top and bottom quarks mix with their counterparts in another SO(10) multiplet. Diagonalizing the resulting Yukawa matrix introduces mixings in the neutrino sector. Specifically we find that for a large region of parameter space with relatively light sparticles, and which has not been ruled out by current LHC or other data, the mixing induced in the neutrino sector is such that $sin^2 2\Theta_{23} \approx 1$, in agreement with data. Abstract

The histone chaperone FACT (facilitates chromatin transcription) enhances transcription in eukaryotic cells, targeting DNA-protein interactions. FACT, a heterodimer in humans, comprises SPT16 and SSRP1 subunits. We measure nucleosome stability and dynamics in the presence of FACT and critical component domains. Optical tweezers quantify FACT/subdomain binding to nucleosomes, displacing the outer wrap of DNA, disrupting direct DNA-histone (core site) interactions, altering the energy landscape of unwrapping, and increasing the kinetics of DNA-histone disruption. Atomic force microscopy reveals nucleosome remodeling, while single-molecule fluorescence quantifies kinetics of histone loss for disrupted nucleosomes, a process accelerated by FACT. Furthermore, two isolated domains exhibit contradictory functions; while the SSRP1 HMGB domain displaces DNA, SPT16 MD/CTD stabilizes DNA-H2A/H2B dimer interactions. However, only intact FACT tethers disrupted DNA to the histones and supports rapid nucleosome reformation over several cycles of force disruption/release. These results demonstrate that key FACT domains combine to catalyze both nucleosome disassembly and reassembly. Abstract

• LPS activated SOCE channels and induced Ca2+ influx via up-regulating the expression of STIM1 and ORAI1. • Inhibition of SOCE channel can alleviate LPS-induced inflammatory injury in bovine mammary epithelial cells. • Silencing STIM1 or ORAI1 alleviates LPS-induced bovine mammary epithelial cells injury by inhibiting NF-κB activation. • Overexpression of STIM1 or ORAI1 activated NF-κB signaling pathway, which had synergistic effect with LPS. • β-carotene inhibited NF-κB activation by decreasing STIM1/ORAI1 expression in bovine mammary epithelial cells. β-carotene has anti-inflammatory properties. STIM1(Stromol interaction molecule 1)/ORAI1 (Orai calcium release-activated calcium modulator 1) is an important inflammatory receptor, participating in the regulation of intracellular calcium signals by inflammation. The aim of this study was to clarify the correlation between STIM1/ORAI1-mediated Ca2+ signaling and inflammation and the anti-inflammatory effect of β-carotene on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced bovine mammary epithelial cells (BMECs). The results showed that LPS activated SOCE channels and induced Ca2+ influx via up-regulating the expression of STIM1 and ORAI1, leading to cell injury. STO-609, BTP2, STIM1 or ORAI1 sclienced attenuated LPS-induced inflammation by inhibiting NF-κB signaling. However, overexpression of STIM1 or ORAI1 induced inflammatory response by activating NF-κB signaling pathway, and which had synergistic effect with LPS. β-carotene inhibited NF-κB activation by decreasing STIM1/ORAI1 expression, and thus alleviated LPS-induced inflammation in BMECs.
