We consider the classification problem for compact Lie groups G ⊂ U(n) which are generated by a single conjugacy class with a fixed number N of distinct eigenvalues. Using M-theory in physics, Cho et al. (JHEP 2020:115 (2020) recently outlined a program that connects two parallel subjects of three dimensional manifolds, namely, geometric topology and quantum topology. They suggest that classical topological invariants such as Chern-Simons invariants of SL (2 , C) -flat connections and SL (2 , C) -adjoint Reidemeister torsions of a three manifold can be packaged together to produce a (2 + 1) -topological quantum field theory, which is essentially equivalent to a modular tensor category. It is further conjectured that every modular tensor category can be obtained from a three manifold and a semi-simple Lie group. In this paper, we study this program mathematically, and provide strong support for the feasibility of such a program. The program produces an algorithm to generate the potential modular T-matrix and the quantum dimensions of a candidate modular data. The modular S-matrix follows from essentially a trial-and-error procedure. We find premodular tensor categories that realize candidate modular data constructed from Seifert fibered spaces and torus bundles over the circle that reveal many subtleties in the program. We make a number of improvements to the program based on our examples. Our main result is a mathematical construction of the modular data of a premodular category from each Seifert fibered space with three singular fibers and a family of torus bundles over the circle with Thurston SOL geometry. The modular data of premodular categories from Seifert fibered spaces can be realized using Temperley-Lieb-Jones categories and the ones from torus bundles over the circle are related to metaplectic categories. We conjecture that a resulting premodular category is modular if and only if the three manifold is a Z 2 -homology sphere, and condensation of bosons in the resulting properly premodular categories leads to either modular or super-modular tensor categories. High-resolution remote sensing (HRRS) scene classification is based on the semantic information in the image and its contextual spatial correlation, labelling different semantic categories for different HRRS. Convolutional neural networks (CNN) have been widely studied and applied in remote sensing scene classification in recent years. However, most of the existing CNN models focus on the global and high-level semantic features, ignoring the shallower feature information. In addition, complex background information and variable scales lead to a series of problems with large intra-class differences and high inter-class similarities, which also brings challenges to scene classification. To address the above problems and challenges, a scenario classification model based on the contextual spatial attention and channel attention mechanism of Lie Group manifold space learning is proposed in this study. In this model, we fully explore the multi-scale features of the scene (shallower-level and high-level) and propose a novel contextual spatial attention mechanism and channel attention mechanism. Extensive experimentation was carried out on the Union Remote Sensing Image Data Set (URSIS), which improved by 7.13% compared with the classical model. The experimental results showed that compared with other state-of-the-art remote sensing scene classification models, our proposed method has achieved significant improvement in classification accuracy and performance. Haah codes represent a singularly interesting gapped Hamiltonian schema that has resisted a natural generalization, although recent work shows that the closely related type I fracton models are more commonplace. These type I siblings of Haah codes are better understood, and a generalized topological quantum field theory framework has been proposed. Abstract We study 3D pure Einstein quantum gravity with negative cosmological constant, in the regime where the AdS radius l is of the order of the Planck scale. Specifically, when the Brown-Henneaux central charge c = 3l/2GN (GN is the 3D Newton constant) equals c = 1/2, we establish duality between 3D gravity and 2D Ising conformal field theory by matching gravity and conformal field theory partition functions for AdS spacetimes with general asymptotic boundaries. This duality was suggested by a genus-one calculation of Castro et al. [Phys. Rev. D85 (2012) 024032]. Extension beyond genus-one requires new mathematical results based on 3D Topological Quantum Field Theory; these turn out to uniquely select the c = 1/2 theory among all those with c < 1, extending the previous results of Castro et al. Previous work suggests the reduction of the calculation of the gravity partition function to a problem of summation over the orbits of the mapping class group action on a “vacuum seed”. But whether or not the summation is well-defined for the general case was unknown before this work. Amongst all theories with Brown-Henneaux central charge c < 1, the sum is finite and unique only when c = 1/2, corresponding to a dual Ising conformal field theory on the asymptotic boundary. Abstract We study novel invariants of modular categories that are beyond the modular data, with an eye towards a simple set of complete invariants for modular categories. Our focus is on the W -matrix—the quantum invariant of a colored framed Whitehead link from the associated TQFT of a modular category. We prove that the W -matrix and the set of punctured S -matrices are strictly beyond the modular data (S , T). Whether or not the triple (S , T , W) constitutes a complete invariant of modular categories remains an open question. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• Bi prepared by solvothermal method on chrysotile substrate has abundant active sites with controllable loading amount. • KH570 modified on Bi-based chrysotile improves the resistance to water vapor. • Iodine capture experiments with the consideration of water vapor are systematically investigated. • KH570 modified Bi-based chrysotile membrane allows efficient iodine capture in humid air. Because of their non-toxicity and low cost, bismuth-based materials have received considerable attention for the capture of gaseous iodine, especially for the removal of radioactive iodine in nuclear post-processing plants. In the actual operation conditions of reprocessing plant, the presence of water vapor must be considered as an important factor because it will significantly affect the iodine capturing efficiency for most iodine-capturing materials. To address this problem, we successfully synthesized a hydrophobic bismuth-based chrysotile membrane, which was modified by the silane coupling agent KH570. The chrysotile fiber was chosen to provide rich reactive sites for bismuth loading, and the bismuth was chosen due to its high affinity to iodine. The hydrophobic surface endowed by KH570 acts as a 'protecting layer' when water vapor exists during iodine adsorption. The maximum of iodine capture efficiency of the prepared membrane reached 483.37 mg/g in air, and 443.04 mg/g under 75 % relative humidity. Comparing hydrophobic membrane with one that non-modified by KH570, the hydrophobic membrane increases about 54 % iodine adsorption capacity in humid condition. We describe a class of parity- and time-reversal-invariant topological states of matter which can arise in correlated electron systems in 2+1-dimensions. These states are characterized by particle-like excitations exhibiting exotic braiding statistics. P and T invariance are maintained by a ‘doubling’ of the low-energy degrees of freedom which occurs naturally without doubling the underlying microscopic degrees of freedom. The simplest examples have been the subject of considerable interest as proposed mechanisms for high-Tc superconductivity. One is the ‘doubled’ version of the chiral spin liquid. The chiral spin liquid gives rise to anyon superconductivity at finite doping and the corresponding field theory is U(1) Chern–Simons theory at coupling constant m=2. The ‘doubled’ theory is two copies of this theory, one with m=2 the other with m=−2. The second example corresponds to Z2 gauge theory, which describes a scenario for spin-charge separation. Our main concern, with an eye towards applications to quantum computation, are richer models which support non-Abelian statistics. All of these models, richer or poorer, lie in a tightly organized discrete family indexed by the Baraha numbers, 2cos(π/(k+2)), for positive integer k. The physical inference is that a material manifesting the Z2 gauge theory or a doubled chiral spin liquid might be easily altered to one capable of universal quantum computation. These phases of matter have a field-theoretic description in terms of gauge theories which, in their infrared limits, are topological field theories. We motivate these gauge theories using a parton model or slave-fermion construction and show how they can be solved exactly. The structure of the resulting Hilbert spaces can be understood in purely combinatorial terms. The highly constrained nature of this combinatorial construction, phrased in the language of the topology of curves on surfaces, lays the groundwork for a strategy for constructing microscopic lattice models which give rise to these phases. The heterogeneity of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) programs is manifest in the diverse EMT-like phenotypes occurring during tumor progression. However, little is known about the mechanistic basis and functional role of specific forms of EMT in cancer. Here we address this question in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cells that enter a dormancy period in response to TGF-β upon disseminating to distant sites. LUAD cells with the capacity to enter dormancy are characterized by expression of SOX2 and NKX2-1 primitive progenitor markers. In these cells, TGF-β induces growth inhibition accompanied by a full EMT response that subsequently transitions into an atypical mesenchymal state of round morphology and lacking actin stress fibers. TGF-β induces this transition by driving the expression of the actin-depolymerizing factor gelsolin, which changes a migratory, stress fiber-rich mesenchymal phenotype into a cortical actin-rich, spheroidal state. This transition lowers the biomechanical stiffness of metastatic progenitors, protecting them from killing by mechanosensitive cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and natural killer (NK) cells. Inhibiting this actin depolymerization process clears tissues of dormant metastatic cells. Thus, LUAD primitive progenitors undergo an atypical EMT as part of a strategy to evade immune-mediated elimination during dormancy. Metastasis frequently develops from disseminated cancer cells that remain dormant after the apparently successful treatment of a primary tumour. These cells fluctuate between an immune-evasive quiescent state and a proliferative state liable to immune-mediated elimination 1-6 . Little is known about the clearing of reawakened metastatic cells and how this process could be therapeutically activated to eliminate residual disease in patients. Here we use models of indolent lung adenocarcinoma metastasis to identify cancer cell-intrinsic determinants of immune reactivity during exit from dormancy. Genetic screens of tumour-intrinsic immune regulators identified the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway as a suppressor of metastatic outbreak. STING activity increases in metastatic progenitors that re-enter the cell cycle and is dampened by hypermethylation of the STING promoter and enhancer in breakthrough metastases or by chromatin repression in cells re-entering dormancy in response to TGFβ. STING expression in cancer cells derived from spontaneous metastases suppresses their outgrowth. Systemic treatment of mice with STING agonists eliminates dormant metastasis and prevents spontaneous outbreaks in a T cell- and natural killer cell-dependent manner-these effects require cancer cell STING function. Thus, STING provides a checkpoint against the progression of dormant metastasis and a therapeutically actionable strategy for the prevention of disease relapse., (© 2023. Aberrant activation of the Wnt signal transduction pathway triggers the development of colorectal cancer. The ADP-ribose polymerase Tankyrase (TNKS) mediates proteolysis of Axin-a negative regulator of Wnt signaling-and provides a promising therapeutic target for Wnt-driven diseases. Proteolysis of TNKS substrates is mediated through their ubiquitination by the poly-ADP-ribose (pADPr)-dependent RING-domain E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF146/Iduna. Like TNKS, RNF146 promotes Axin proteolysis and Wnt pathway activation in some cultured cell lines, but in contrast with TNKS, RNF146 is dispensable for Axin degradation in colorectal carcinoma cells. Thus, the contexts in which RNF146 is essential for TNKS-mediated Axin destabilization and Wnt signaling remain uncertain. Herein, we tested the requirement for RNF146 in TNKS-mediated Axin proteolysis and Wnt pathway activation in a range of in vivo settings. Using null mutants in Drosophila , we provide genetic and biochemical evidence that Rnf146 and Tnks function in the same proteolysis pathway in vivo Furthermore, like Tnks, Drosophila Rnf146 promotes Wingless signaling in multiple developmental contexts by buffering Axin levels to ensure they remain below the threshold at which Wingless signaling is inhibited. However, in contrast with Tnks, Rnf146 is dispensable for Wingless target gene activation and the Wingless-dependent control of intestinal stem cell proliferation in the adult midgut during homeostasis. Together, these findings demonstrate that the requirement for Rnf146 in Tnks-mediated Axin proteolysis and Wingless pathway activation is dependent on physiological context, and suggest that, in some cell types, functionally redundant pADPr-dependent E3 ligases or other compensatory mechanisms promote the Tnks-dependent proteolysis of Axin in both mammalian and Drosophila cells., (Copyright © 2019 by the Genetics Society of America.)
