351. Nanocrystalline α-Fe and #x03B5;-Fe3N particles prepared by chemical vapor condensation process

Abstract

Nanocrystalline α-Fe and #x03B5;-Fe3N particles were synthesized by chemical vapor condensation method using Fe(CO)5 in a flowing NH3 atmosphere. Structural characteristics were investigated systematically by means of X-ray diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray. The mean particle size was in the order of 10–40 nm with uniform dispersion. With increasing decomposition temperature, the phase transformation occurred from amorphous+α-Fe nanoparticles to amorphous +α-Fe + Fe–N nanoparticles, and then to #x03B5;-Fe3N nanocrystalline. Magnetic properties of the Fe–N nanocrystalline particles were examined by vibrating sample magnetometer. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

Abstract: We have developed a metadata service for the Belle experiment which provides a mechanism to locate files using descriptive information. However, for the Belle II experiment, we will have 50–60 times more data. This metadata service may have problems with performance, scalability, and durability when employed at Belle II. These issues are compounded when metadata searches are extended to the event-level. Accordingly, we have designed a new metadata scheme for Belle II which significantly reduces disk space and propose a new metadata service which provides good performance and scalability based on AMGA (Arda Metadata catalog for Grid Application). We find that the use of event-level metadata provides an efficient scheme for processing events with many tracks. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

Abstract: A rapid and convenient polyol method with microwave irradiation was proposed to synthesize ternary chalcogenide nano-crystal, CuCr2Se4, in this study. Nano-crystalline CuCr2Se4 was formed from the chemical reaction in the mixture of cuprous chloride, chromium acetate, metallic selenium and poly ethylene glycol under microwave irradiation in argon atmosphere. Crystalline phases were identified with X-ray diffraction analysis and crystal size and morphology were examined by transmission electron microscopy. The result from thermal magnetometric analysis indicated that Curie temperature of nano-sized CuCr2Se4 was 445 K with a single phase. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
