The empirical starting point of the article "On the relative autonomy of evaluation research - Danish normal evaluation research as a non-autonomous (sub)field in the field of power" is a number of texts by four dominant Danish evaluation researchers. The theoretical starting point is especially the theory of social fields of production of Pierre Bourdieu as well as his sociological theory of practice. However, also other theories are involved. The article is discussing and constructing the doxa belonging to 'normal' evaluation research.Evaluation research is by the evaluation researchers understood as a certain meta-evaluating and action directing research, being either allocated to universities or borrowing theories and ideas from evaluation theories formulated within universities. It seems as if doxa of evaluation research is the same as the doxa presupposed in connection with politics/democracy, and which furthermore presupposes a rational theory of human action without a symbolic economy of human action. The analysis in the article show that normal evaluation research is not produced in a part of a relatively autonomous (university) field but should be constructed as a decidedly non-autonomous part of an administrative field, a field of power.
