A facile and efficient synthesis of 14-aryl or alkyl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes has been accomplished by treatment of β-naphthol with aryl or alkyl aldehydes catalyzed by 2-1′-methylimidazolium-3-yl-1-ethyl sulfate in ionic liquid [BMIM][BF4] at 80°C. The luminescence of products was studied in detail.

Proteins or peptides can be directly transferred into cells when covalently linked to protein transduction domains (PTDs). TAT is one of the most widely studied PTDs. The effect of fusion protein TAT and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) on liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (SECs) apoptosis during cold storage is unknown. The present study aimed to determine whether fusion protein TAT-HO-1 would transduce efficiently into liver during cold storage, and, if so, to determine whether TAT-HO-1 would attenuate SECs apoptosis during preservation injury in rat.Livers of Sprague-Dawley rats were harvested and randomly assigned to group 1 (HTK solution) and group 2 (HTK solution containing TAT-HO-1 fusion protein) according to the type of the preservation solution. The transduction efficiency of TAT-HO-1 was examined and the impairment of SECs was assessed during the period of cold storage followed by 1 hour of reperfusion.TAT-HO-1 can transduce efficiently into liver during cold storage. A significantly lower apoptotic index of SECs was observed in group 2, at 6, 12 and 18 hours of cold storage after 1 hour reperfusion, when compared with group 1. TAT-HO-1 reduced HA and ET levels in liver at each time point. Both Bcl-2 and Bax protein were expressed in hepatocytes and SECs at the periphery of the sinusoidal space. Moreover, higher Bcl-2 expression and lower Bax expression were observed in group 2.TAT-HO-1 can transduce efficiently into rat livers and shows a protective effect on SECs by attenuating apoptosis during cold ischemia/reperfusion injury. Protein transduction will be a novel therapeutic strategy to reduce the risk of preservation injury in liver transplantation.

2,4,5-Triaryl-5H-chromeno[4,3-b]pyridines were synthesized from a three-component cascade reaction of 2′-hydroxyacetophenone, aromatic aldehyde, and ammonium acetate catalyzed by 2-1′-methylimidazolium-3-yl-1-ethyl sulfate under microwave irradiation. To study the effect of early continuous blood purification (CBP) in the treatment of post-traumatic pulmonary fat embolism in dog.Twelve healthy male mongrel dogs were randomly divided into two groups: group A received intramedullary reaming and bone cement injection of bilateral femurs (n=6), and group B received CBP simultaneously at the beginning of the same operation and continued until 120 minutes after the end of the operation (n=6). The changes in arterial blood gas and related cytokines were monitored at various time points. The animals were sacrificed 120 minutes after the operation, and the lungs were obtained for examination, and the amount of oil red O stained fat emboli was recorded.In group A, the mean pulmonary arterial pressure (MPAP), pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP) and extravascular lung water (EVLW) increased after the manipulation in single femur, and these changes persisted after the manipulation on both femurs (all P0.05). There was a decrease in pH and arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) and an increase in arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) and IL-6 after the operation on both femurs, showing significant differences compared with those of pre-operation period (all P0.05). In group B, the hemodynamics, contents of cytokines and arterial blood gases were stable. Compared with those of group A, there was a significant decrease in the number of pulmonary fat emboli in group B (4.17+/-1.99 vs. 18.13+/-6.25, P0.05).The therapy of CBP could decrease the level of the serum TNF-alpha, IL-1 beta , IL-6 and EVLW, MPAP, PCWP, which could ameliorate gas exchange and oxygenation of the lung. And it also could reduce the number of pulmonary fat emboli and decrease the incidence of pulmonary fat embolism caused by femoral intramedullary operation.

Kinetic changes of alpha-glucosidase from Saccharomyces cerevisiae in guanidinium chloride (GdmCl) and SDS solutions were investigated. The results showed both denaturants can lead conformational changes and loss of enzymatic activities. However, the concentrations of denaturants causing loss of activities were much lower than that of conformational changes, which suggested that the conformation of active site of alpha-glucosidase was more fragile than the whole molecular conformation in response to the two denaturants. According to the different kinetic process of the enzyme in the GdmCl and SDS solutions, the further investigation on the process of denaturation were made, it showed GdmCl and SDS had different types of inhibition and different types of interaction with the enzyme. Furthermore, the mechanisms of the two denaturants were discussed.

Needle-sticking method has essential differences from stuck needle induced by acupuncture accident. It is effective for excessive syndrome, pain syndrome, arthralgia syndrome, etc. and with functions of promoting flow of qi and inducing qi to carry out stimulating circulation of channel-qi, promoting the needling sensation propagating along the channel and accelerating qi reaching to the affected region. Its main adverse reactions are pain, tissue damage and so on. The selection of needling instruments, the needling depth, the twirling intensities and location of forbidden or careful application must be paid attention in concrete practice.

It is widely accepted that environmental degradation and poverty are linked and that conservation and poverty reduction should be tackled together. However, success with integrated strategies has been elusive. Here, we present the results of a study that illustrates how development that combines environmental and economic perspectives and that provides appropriate compensation to affected populations can improve both nature and society, thereby eradicating the “poverty trap.” The results show that if we cannot improve the livelihood of local residents, we will be unable to restore degraded environments when state-owned property is transferred to private ownership to encourage better management by residents. In contrast, measures to eliminate poverty, combined with the development of green enterprises that improve the livelihoods of private land owners in the long term, is the precondition for successful ecological restoration.

To compare the therapeutic effects of opposing needling and routine acupuncture for treatment of poststroke shoulder-hand syndrome.Sixty cases were randomly divided into an opposing needling group and a routine acupuncture group, 30 cases in each group. In the two groups, Jianyu (LI 15), Jianliao (TE 14), Quchi (LI 11), Hegu (LI 4), etc. were selected, with on the healthy side selected for the opposing needling group and on the affected side selected for the routine acupuncture group. The motor function of the affected limb was evaluated by Fugl-Meyer scale, activity of daily living by ADL scale, and pain by VAS, and the edema degree was investigated before and after treatment.There were significant differences before treatment and after 2 therapeutic courses in the scores of Fugl-Meyer for the upper limb motor function and the ADL score for activity of daily living (both P0.05), with the opposing needling group being significantly better than the routine acupuncture group (P0.05); after treatment, both the edema degree and the pain scores significantly decreased (both P0.05), with the opposing needling group in improvement of the edema degree being better the routine acupuncture group (P0.05), and with no significant difference between the two groups in improvement of pain (P0.05); the total effective rate was 93.3% in the opposing needling group and 90.0% in the routine acupuncture group with a significant difference between the two groups (P0.05).The clinical therapeutic effect of the opposing needling is better than that of routine acupuncture therapy for treatment of poststroke shoulder hand syndrome.

Carcinoid tumors of the duodenum are rare, and their natural history has not been defined. Duodenum carcinoid can present with various clinical symptoms. It is difficult to diagnose this disease. When duodenum carcinoid is smaller than 1.0 cm, it can be removed by endoscopy. When it is bigger than 1.0 cm, it should be surgically resected. We report a patient who presented with a duodenum carcinoid 1.2 cm in size. As the patient refused surgical resection, we gave him endoscopic mucosa resection. After one-year follow-up, the duodenum carcinoid was found to be completely resected, and the patient had no cancer metastasis.

To study the applicability of MultiCalc software to prenatal screening of Down's syndrome in Jiangsu province, China.The gestational age-specific median of maternal serum marker was calculated by means of regression method. Regression functions for adjustment of Multiple of the Median (MoM) by weight were established for our own population.Before the adjustment by weight, the average level of alpha fetal protein(AFP) was 16% higher and the free beta-human chorionic gonadotrophin (beta-hCG) was 14% higher than those of the Caucasian in MultiCalc software respectively. But when the AFP and free beta-hCG results were converted to weight-adjusted MoM levels, the values were 0.99 and 1.02 respectively. The median of MoM of AFP and the free beta-hCG were 1.00 through the regression model of gestational age and weight adjustment.There was no difference of average weight-adjusted MoM levels between the Jiangsu population and the Caucasian, and the MultiCalc software was applicable to maternal serum screening for Down's syndrome of Jiangsu.

To study the diagnostic value of double-balloon endoscopy (DBE) for small intestinal diseases.155 patients clinically suspicious of small intestinal diseases were studied. 110 of them were male and 45 female. Their age ranged from 6 to 75 and with an average of 41 years. They consisted of 92 cases of small intestinal hemorrhage, 39 abdominal pain, 7 diarrhoea, 13 abdominal distention, 3 malnutrition and one diarrhoea as well as refractory hypoalbuminemia. In the procedure, the operator manipulated and advanced the endoscope and the assistant helped to advance the over tube.Among the 155 cases lesions were found in 125 cases, with positive results accounting for 80.6%. These lesions mainly consisted of small intestinal ulcer (including Crohn's disease), chronic inflammation, Meckel's diverticulum, interstizialoma, vascular deformity and carcinoma of small intestine. In 84 of the 92 patients suspicious of intestinal hemorrhage the lesions were confirmed with a positive rate of 91.3%. In 24 of the 39 patients with abdomen pain the etiologies were confirmed with a positive rate of 61.5%. In 16 of the 23 patients with diarrhoea, abdominal distention and malnutrition the positive rate was 69.6%. The cause of the only one case with refractory hypoalbuminemia was confirmed. Among the 155 cases, 9 had lesions located in stomach and duodenum, 115 in small intestine and one in large bowel, no lesion was found in 30 cases. Among the patients, 43 were found to have small intestinal ulcer. In the 43 patients, 12 patients were with single intestinal ulcer and 31 with multiple. For cases of Meckel's diverticulum, interstizialoma, carcinoma, vascular deformity and intestinal adhesion of small intestine in this series, diagnoses made by DBE combined with morphology were completely consistent with those found in operation. However, for ulcer lesions (mainly Crohn's disease), there was diversity in the diagnoses between the two methods, the coincidence was 57.1%. Two patients had complication, one perforation of small intestine and the other acute intestinal stasis.DBE is efficient and safe for the diagnosis of small intestinal diseases, especially in confirming the lesions. However, for ulcer of small intestine, this method even combined with biopsy is sometimes unable to determine its nature, so surgery may be beneficial in this condition.

Design DBE was performed via the mouth, anus, or both approaches to diagnose small-intestinal disease. There were 92 cases with small-intestinal hemorrhage, 39 with abdominal pain, 7 with diarrhea, 13 with abdominal distention, 3 cases with malnutrition, and 1 with diarrhea and refractory hypoalbuminemia. Results Among the 155 patients, lesions were found in 126 (81.3%). These lesions found were small-intestinal ulcers (including Crohn's disease), chronic inflammation, Meckel's diverticulae, vascular deformities, and carcinoma. Eighty-five of the 92 patients with suspected intestinal hemorrhage were confirmed, with a positive rate of 92.4%. Also confirmed were 24 of the 39 patients with abdominal pain (positive rate of 61.5%); 16 of the 23 patients with diarrhea, abdominal distention, or malnutrition (positive rate of 69.6%); and 1 patient with refractory hypoalbuminemia. Among the 126 patients with positive findings, the lesions were located in the small intestine in 116 patients, in the stomach and duodenum in 9 patients, and in the colon in 1 patient. In the 45 patients with small-intestinal ulcer, 29 patients had recurrent hemorrhage, 9 had abdominal pain, 4 had abdominal distention, 2 had malnutrition, and 1 had diarrhea. Ulcers were located in the jejunum in 20 patients, in the ileum in 20 patients, and in both the jejunum and ileum in 5 patients. For 7 patients with small-intestinal ulceration diagnosed as Crohn's disease, the concordance rate of diagnosis between preoperative and postoperative diagnosis was 57.1%, lower than other diseases (P Conclusion DBE is effective and safe for the diagnosis of small-intestine disease in a Chinese patient cohort.

To explore the mechanism of cake-separated moxibustion in treatment of hyperlipemia.Sixty rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups, a blank group,a model group, a direct moxibustion group and a cake-separated moxibustion group. Hyperlipemia model was developed by high fat diet of cholesterol. Changes of ultrastructures of endothelial cells of the aorta of the rabbit were observed with electron microscope.The endothelial cells in the cake-separated moxibustion group were more intact, most of them were normal in forms, internal elastic membrane was continuous, their thickness was even, the cells of smooth muscles in the medial membrane were relatively normal, which are similar to those in the blank control group. But the structure of endothelial cells of the aorta in the model group disappeared, in cytoplasm the sedimentation of a great number of lipids can be seen, internal elastic membrane was interrupted, the thickness was uneven, with focal dissolution, the cells of smooth muscle in the medial membrane had sedimentation of lipids, with frothy change.Cake-separated moxibustion has a certain protective action on endothelial cells of the aorta in the rabbit of hyperlipemia.

The positive expression rate of cyclinE protein in tumor tissues was 68.8%, which was higher than that in adjacent pancreatic tissues (chi(2) = 4.063, P0.05). CyclinE protein positive expression significantly correlated with tumor cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P0.05). The positive expression rate of PCNA in the tumor tissues was 71.9%, which was higher than that in adjacent pancreatic tissues (chi(2) = 5.189, P0.05). PCNA positive expression remarkably correlated with tumor cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P0.05).The decreased expression of p57(kip2) and/or overexpression of cyclinE protein and PCNA may contribute to the occurrence and progression of pancreatic cancer. p57(kip2), cyclinE protein, and PCNA play an important role in occurrence and progression of pancreatic cancer.

To investigate the relation of transfer growth factor (TGF-beta1) and beta-glucuronidase (beta-GCD) on the occurrence and progress of pancreatic cancer.The expression of TGF-beta1 and beta-GCD in the pancreatic cancer tissue and normal pancreatic tissue was determined synchronously using ABC method of immunohistochemistry.The percentage of TGF-beta1 positive cells was significantly higher in pancreatic cancer tissue (43.8%+/-5.2%) than in adjacent pancreatic tissue (28.7%+/-3.6%, P0.01). The worse the cancer cells differentiated and lymph nodes metastasis, the more over-expression of TGF-beta1. The percentage of beta-GCD positive cells was also significantly higher in the pancreatic cancer tissue (62.5%+/-4.1%) than in the adjacent pancreatic tissue (33.5%+/-2.8%, P0.01). The degree of over-expression of beta-GCD was related to the degree of cancer cells differentiation, but not to the lymph nodes metastasis. The expression of TGF-beta1 was significantly correlated with the expression of beta-GCD in pancreatic cancer tissue.The genesis of pancreatic cancer results from multi-factor, multi-step and multi-gene variation. The synchronous detection of TGF-beta1 and beta-GCD helps to determine the malignant degree of tumors and the prognosis of patients with such disease.

To investigate the effect of inhibiting factor of cell cycle regulation p27(kip1), retinoblastinoma protein (Rb protein), and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) on the genesis and progression of human pancreatic cancer.The expression of p27(kip1), Rb protein and PCNA in the tumor tissue and adjacent tissue of 32 patients with pancreatic cancer was detected by SP immunohistochemical technique.The p27(kip1) protein positive-expression rate in the tumor tissue of pancreatic cancer was 56.25%, which was lower than that in the adjacent pancreatic tissue (P0.05). p27(kip1) protein positive-expression was correlated significantly with tumor cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P0.05). The Rb gene protein positive-expression rate in the tumor tissue was 50%, which was also lower than that in the adjacent pancreatic tissue (P0.05). The PCNA positive-expression rate was 71.87%, which was higher than that in the adjacent pancreatic tissue (P0.05). PCNA positive-expression was also correlated significantly with tumor cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P0.05).The decreased expression of p27(kip1), Rb protein and over-expression of PCNA may play an important role in the genesis and progression of pancreatic cancer.

There were few reports about the relationship between p57(kip2) protein as negative factor of cell cycle regulation and pancreatic cancer. This article aims to investigate the effects of p57(kip2), cyclin E and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) protein on the occurrence and progression of pancreatic cancer.Expression of p57(kip2), cyclin E, and PCNA in tumor tissue and adjacent tissue from 32 patients with pancreatic cancer were detected using SP immunohistochemical technique.The positive-expression rate of p57(kip2) protein in tumor tissue of pancreatic cancer was 46.9%, which was lower than that in adjacent pancreatic tissue (75.0%) (Chi(2)=5.317, P0.05); p57(kip2) protein positive-expression was remarkably correlated with tumor cell differentiation (P0.05), but was not correlated with lymph node metastasis (P0.05). To increase the knowledge of STDs control and prevention among young couples by intervention, and to improve their reproductive health.The intervention plan was made and carried out on the basis of the information from baseline interview and Focus Group Discussions. The activities of the intervention included lectures given by experts, counseling service, delivering knowledge foldouts and knowledge competition. The final survey was conducted. The data of baseline and final survey were analyzed with SAS software.Before intervention, young couples knowledge of STDs was similar between the experimental and the control group. After intervention, proportion of knowing numbers of STDs kinds in experiment group significantly was higher than that in control group(P0.01); The proportion of knowing harm of STDs and knowing to use consom to prevent STDs couples were significantly higher in experiment group than that in control group(P0.01).The intervention activities including lectures and counseling services were positive and great sociological affects on family planning and reproductive health improvement for young couples which has one child.

Rb protein positive-expression rate in the tumor tissues of p57(kip2) protein positive-expression group was 53.3 %; and Rb protein positive-expression rate in the tumor tissues of p57(kip2) protein negative-expression group was 47.1 %. There was no significant relationship between the two groups (r=0.16507, P0.05).The decreased expression of p57(kip2), Rb protein or over-expression of PCNA protein might contribute to the genesis or progression of pancreatic cancer, p57(kip2), Rb protein and PCNA may play an important role in genesis and progression of pancreatic cancer.

Because of register-memory instruction set architecture and limited register set, there are significant amounts of memory access instructions in x86 microprocessors. As the higher issue degree of superscalar microprocessor is provided, an aggressive scheduling policy of load/store operations becomes crucial. We examine the scheduling policies of loads/stores on x86 superscalar microprocessors and propose a new aggressive scheduling policy called load speculation, which allows loads to precede the previous unsolved pending stores. Simulation results show that the load speculation achieves the higher performance in comparison with the traditional scheduling policies such as load bypassing and load forwarding. Furthermore, by reducing the pipeline stages, the load speculation can achieve even higher performance.

AIM Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) has been suggested to be associated with carcinogenesis. We sought to investigate the effect of the selective COX-2 inhibitor, Nimesulide on proliferation and apoptosis of SMMC-7721 human hepatoma cells. METHODS This study was carried out on the culture of hepatic carcinoma SMMC-7721 cell line. Various concentrations of Nimesulide (0, 200 micromol/L, 300 micromol/L, 400 micromol/L) were added and incubated. Cell proliferation was detected with MTT colorimetric assay, cell apoptosis by electron microscopy, flow cytometry and TUNEL. RESULTS Nimesulide could significantly inhibit SMMC-7721 cells proliferation dose-dependent and in a dependent manner compared with that of the control group. The duration lowest inhibition rate produced by Nimesulide in SMMC-7721 cells was 19.06%, the highest inhibition rate was 58.49%. After incubation with Nimesulide for 72 h, the most highest apoptosis rate and apoptosis index of SMMC-7721 cells comparing with those of the control were 21.20%+/-1.62% vs 2.24%+/-0.26% and 21.23+/-1.78 vs 2.01+/-0.23 (P

Daiwenjiu Gao plasters were stuck onto the following two groups of acupoints, group 1 including acupoints Guanyuan (CV 4), Shenshu (BL 23) and Zusanli (ST 36) and group2 including acupoints Zhongji (CV 3), Pangguangshu (BL 28) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6), to treat 100 cases of infantile enuresis, the results showed that 92 cases were cured, 6 cases got remarkable effect, 2 cases got effect, with total effective rate being 100%.
