The emotion-cause pair extraction task is a fine-grained task in text sentiment analysis, which aims to extract all emotions and their underlying causes in a document. Recent studies have addressed the emotion-cause pair extraction task in a step-by-step manner, i.e., the two subtasks of emotion extraction and cause extraction are completed first, followed by the pairing task of emotion-cause pairs. However, this fail to deal well with the potential relationship between the two subtasks and the extraction task of emotion-cause pairs. At the same time, the grammatical information contained in the document itself is ignored. To address the above issues, we propose a deep neural network based on span association prediction for the task of emotion-cause pair extraction, exploiting general grammatical conventions to span-encode sentences. We use the span association pairing method to obtain candidate emotion-cause pairs, and establish a multi-dimensional information interaction mechanism to screen candidate emotion-cause pairs. Experimental results on a quasi-baseline corpus show that our model can accurately extract potential emotion-cause pairs and outperform existing baselines.

Purpose: This study set out to determine the antimicrobial resistance trends of Haemophilus influenzae isolates from pediatric hospitals in Mainland China, which would provide basis for clinical treatment., Methods: The Infectious Disease Surveillance of Pediatrics (ISPED) collaboration group conducted this study. H. influenzae strains isolated from nine pediatric hospitals in Mainland China were included. Disk diffusion method was used for antimicrobial susceptibility test. Cefinase disc was used for detection of β-lactamase., Results: In total, 13810 H. influenzae isolates were included during 2017-2019: 93.17% of which were from respiratory tract specimens, 4.63% from vaginal swabs, 1.10% from secretion, and 1.10% from others. Of all strains, 63.32% isolates produced β-lactamase; 8.22% isolates were β-lactamase-negative and ampicillin-resistant (BLNAR). The resistance to sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim was 70.98%, followed by resistance to ampicillin (69.37%), cefuroxime (51.35%), ampicillin-sulbactam (38.82%), azithromycin (38.21%), amoxicillin-clavulanate (35.28%). More than 90% of H. influenzae isolates were susceptible to ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, meropenem, levofloxacin and chloramphenicol. The resistance rate of ampicillin and azithromycin in H. influenzae showed an increasing trend through the years. Statistically significant differences in antibiotic-resistance rates of all the antibiotics except chloramphenicol were found in different regions. The major Multi-Drug Resistance pattern was resistant to β-lactams, macrolides, and sulfonamides., Conclusions: There is a rising trend of resistance rate of ampicillin and azithromycin in H. influenzae. Antimicrobial resistance of H. influenzae deserves our ongoing attention. Aims: Acinetobacter baumannii is notorious for acquiring antibiotic resistance and causing nosocomial infections worldwide. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and molecular characteristics of A. baumannii isolates obtained from inpatients and the intensive care unit (ICU) environment of a pediatric hospital in Shanghai, China. Methods: Between July 2017 and January 2018, a total of 88 A. baumannii isolates, including three obtained from ICU environmental specimens, were characterized by antibiotic susceptibility, multilocus sequence typing, and resistance genes. Results: Carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii (CRAB) isolates, which were resistant to all the antibiotics tested except colistin, accounted for 69.3% (61/88) of all isolates. Three sequence types (STs) were identified among the CRAB isolates, and the predominant clone was ST208 (93.4%, 57/61), which included three environmental isolates and 54 clinical isolates collected from ICU patients. Carbapenem-susceptible isolates, none of which was multidrug resistant (MDR), showed a more diverse genetic background with three known STs and 21 novel STs identified. Intrinsic bla OXA-51-like and bla AmpC were detected in all isolates, while bla OXA-23-like was only detected in all CRAB isolates. IS Aba1 - bla OXA-23-like , IS Aba1 - bla OXA-51-like , and IS Aba1 - bla AmpC were identified in 69.3% (all CRAB isolates), 0%, and 65.9% (58 CRAB isolates) of all isolates, respectively. Conclusions: A nosocomial outbreak of MDR A. baumannii ST208 producing OXA-23-like carbapenemase occurred, highlighting the necessity for strict infection control interventions in the ICU.

Ankle fracture is one of the most common traumatic fractures among the elderly population. The majority of ankle fractures are stable types with the typically conservative strategy of close contact casting treatment. The continuous use of unventilated standard cast immobilization severely affects patient's satisfaction and compliance and markedly increases the rates of various complications. Three-dimensional (3D) printing for casts has advantages of lightweight, ventilated, proper-fit, and esthetic improvements. In this work, this novel 3D-printed cast has been applied to individuals with stable ankle fractures, and its effectiveness can be successfully validated with finite element analysis and a pilot study. A 30% reduction of the volume was chosen as the optimal result in topology optimization. Both 3D-printed casts and conventional casts showed significant ankle function improvement after immobilization for 6 weeks ( p = 0.000). The 3D-printed casts were superior to the traditional casts in Olerud-Molander Ankle Scores (OMAS), with the mean difference of 8.3 ± 8.57 OMAS points (95% CI -10.8 to 27.5; p = 0.354) for 6 weeks, implying that the 3D-printed casts possibly maintain the equal clinical efficacy as the traditional casts. The statistically significant difference between groups from the 3D-printed cast and the traditional one observed in C-QUEST 2.0 was 11.3 ± 1.5 points (95% CI 8.0-14.6; p = 0.000), indicating that the 3D-printed cast possesses outperforming satisfaction and compliance and has great potential in practical applications. The canonical mode of action (MOA) of microcystins (MC) is the inhibition of protein phosphatases, but complete characterization of toxicity pathways is lacking. The existence of over 200 MC congeners complicates risk estimates worldwide. This work employed RNA-seq to provide an unbiased and comprehensive characterization of cellular targets and impacted cellular processes of hepatocytes exposed to either MC-LR or MC-RR congeners. The human hepatocyte cell line, HepaRG, was treated with three concentrations of MC-LR or -RR for 2 h. Significant reduction in cell survival was observed in LR1000 and LR100 treatments whereas no acute toxicity was observed in any MR-RR treatment. RNA-seq was performed on all treatments of MC-LR and -RR. Differentially expressed genes and pathways associated with oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and the unfolded protein response (UPR) were highly enriched by both congeners as were inflammatory pathways. Genes associated with both apoptotic and inflammatory pathways were enriched in LR1000. We present a model of MC toxicity that immediately causes oxidative stress and leads to ER stress and the activation of the UPR. Differential activation of the three arms of the UPR and the kinetics of JNK activation ultimately determine whether cell survival or apoptosis is favored. Extracellular exosomes were enrichment of by both congeners, suggesting a previously unidentified mechanism for MC-dependent extracellular signaling. The complement system was enriched only in MC-RR treatments, suggesting congener-specific differences in cellular effects. It is widely known that the excellent intrinsic electronic and optoelectronic advantages of bismuthene and tellurene make them attractive for applications in transistors and logic and optoelectronic devices. However, their poor optoelectronic performances, such as photocurrent density and photoresponsivity, under ambient conditions severely hinder their practical application. To satisfy the demand of high-performance optoelectronic devices and topological insulators, bismuth telluride nanoplates (Bi 2 Te 3 NPs) with different sizes, successfully synthesized by a solvothermal approach have been, for the first time, employed to fabricate a working electrode for photoelectrochemical (PEC)-type photodetection. It is demonstrated that the as-prepared Bi 2 Te 3 NP-based photodetectors exhibit remarkably improved photocurrent density, enhanced photoresponsivity, and faster response time and recovery time in the UV-Vis region, compared to bismuthene and tellurene-based photodetectors. Additionally, the PEC stability measurements show that Bi 2 Te 3 NPs have a comparable long-term stability for on/off switching behaviour for the bismuthene and tellurene-based photodetectors. Therefore, it is anticipated that the present work can provide fundamental acknowledgement of the optoelectronic performance of a PEC-type Bi 2 Te 3 NP-based photodetector, shedding light on new designs of high-performance topological insulator-based optoelectronic devices., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts to declare., (This journal is © The Royal Society of Chemistry.)

Community-acquired Staphylococcus aureus is a major pathogen responsible for skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs). This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and molecular characteristics of community-acquired S. aureus isolates recovered from paediatric patients with SSTIs in Shanghai, China. Between January 2015 and January 2018, 91 community-acquired S. aureus isolates were characterised by antibiotic susceptibility, multilocus sequence typing (ST), staphylococcal protein A gene (spa) type and virulence genes. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) strains were also characterised by staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) type. Forty-one (45.1%) S. aureus isolates were MRSA. ST59 (33.0%, 30/91) was the most common sequence type, and t437 (18.7%, 17/91) was the most common spa type. SCCmec IV and V accounted for 61.0% and 34.1% of all MRSA isolates, respectively. Each isolate carried at least six virulence genes. The positive rates of Panton-Valentine leukocidin genes among all S. aureus, MRSA and methicillin-susceptible S. aureus isolates were 30.8% (28/91), 39.0% (16/41) and 24% (12/50), respectively. The prevalence of community-associated MRSA was surprisingly high among children with community-acquired SSTIs in Shanghai. ST59-t437 was the most prevalent community-acquired S. aureus clone causing SSTIs.

Zero-dimensional (0D)-2D nanostructures, which combine the efficient light-harvesting properties of 0D nanocrystals (NCs) and the ultrafast carrier transfer of 2D materials, have been widely used in optoelectronic devices. Although the most common way to fabricate 0D-2D nanostructures consists of a mixing process, the limited loading efficiency of NCs and the poor 0D-2D interface hinder the efficient photo-carrier generation and fast carrier separation/transfer in such systems. Herein, the in situ synthesis of CsPbBr3/BP heterostructures via a hot-injection method was presented, revealing that both the formation process of CsPbBr3 NCs and the CsPbBr3/black phosphorous (BP) interfaces presented pronounced changes. This led to a larger CsPbBr3 NC size, higher CsPbBr3 NC loading efficiency, optimized combination of CsPbBr3 and BP at the interface, and enhanced carrier transfer properties. In addition, the in situ synthesized CsPbBr3/BP heterostructure was used as a photoactive material for the fabrication of photodetectors, which showed high detectivity (D*) of 2.6 × 1011 Jones. This work highlights a novel strategy to optimize the 0D-2D heterostructure interface and to promote its carrier transfer efficiency, broadening the field of the applications of mixed-dimensional nanostructures.

Although alternative Flame Retardant (FR) chemicals are expected to be safer than the legacy FRs they replace, their risks to human health and the environment are often poorly characterized. This study used a small volume, fish embryo system to reveal potential mechanisms of action and diagnostic exposure patterns for TBPH (bis (2-ethylhexyl)-tetrabromophthalate), a component of several widely-used commercial products. Two different concentration of TBPH were applied to sensitive early life stages of an ecologically important test species, Fundulus heteroclitus (Atlantic killifish), with a well-annotated genome. Exposed fish embryos were sampled for transcriptomics or chemical analysis of parent compound and primary metabolite or observed for development and survival through larval stage. Global transcript profiling using RNA-seq was conducted (n = 16 per treatment) to provide a non-targeted and statistically robust approach to characterize TBPH gene expression patterns. Transcriptomic analysis revealed a dose-response in the expression of genes associated with a surprisingly limited number of biological pathways, but included the aryl hydrocarbon receptor signal transduction pathway, which is known to respond to several toxicologically-important chemical classes. A transcriptional fingerprint using Random Forests was developed that was able to perfectly discriminate exposed vs. non-exposed individuals in test sets. These results suggest that TBPH has a relatively low potential for developmental toxicity (at least in fishes), despite concerns related to its structural similarities to endocrine disrupting chemicals and that the early life stage Fundulus system may provide a convenient test system for exposure characterization. More broadly, this study advances the usefulness of a biological testing and analysis system utilizing non-targeted transcriptomics profiling and early developmental endpoints that complements current screening methods to characterize chemicals of ecological and human health concern., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier Ltd. Purpose: Etiological diagnosis of pediatric patients with community-acquired pneumonia is difficult. For therapy, one of the major problems is the difficulty in separating bacterial pneumonia which would benefit from antibiotics from nonbacterial pneumonia. Therefore, to identify potential biomarkers for distinguishing nonbacterial pneumonia from bacterial pneumonia are sought ., Experimental Design: Lectin microarray containing 91 lectins is used to screen serums from pediatric patients with pneumonia. Lectin-based pull-down assay combined with LC-MS/MS is used to identify the potential biomarkers., Results: SNA-I, a lectin binding preferentially to α2-6 linked sialic acid residues, shows higher binding signals (near 42 kDa) in the mycoplasma pneumonia group, when compared with the other groups. A total of 18 proteins are identified with LC-MS/MS. By western blot analysis, the authors confirm that the expression of haptoglobin-related protein (HPR) is elevated in pediatric patients with pneumonia compared with normal children (p < 0.001). Furthermore, HPR is higher in the mycoplasma pneumonia group (p < 0.01) and the viral pneumonia group (p < 0.05), when compared with the bacterial pneumonia group., Conclusions and Clinical Relevance: These results indicate that HPR is a potential serologic biomarker which can differentiate between bacterial pneumonia and nonbacterial pneumonia. Nanocomposite polymer electrolytes (CPEs) are promising materials for all-solid-state lithium metal batteries (LMBs) due to their enhanced ionic conductivities and stability to the lithium anode. MXenes are a new two-dimensional, 2D, family of early transition metal carbides and nitrides, which have a high aspect ratio and a hydrophilic surface. Herein, using a green, facile aqueous solution blending method, we uniformly dispersed small amounts of Ti 3 C 2 T x into a poly(ethylene oxide)/LiTFSI complex (PEO 20 -LiTFSI) to fabricate MXene-based CPEs (MCPEs). The addition of the 2D flakes to PEO simultaneously retards PEO crystallization and enhances its segmental motion. Compared to the 0D and 1D nanofillers, MXenes show higher efficiency in ionic conductivity enhancement and improvement in the performance of LMBs. The CPE with 3.6 wt% MXene shows the highest ionic conductivity at room temperature (2.2 × 10 -5 S m -1 at 28 °C). An LMB using MCPE with only 1.5 wt% MXene shows rate capability and stability comparable with that of the state-of-the-art CPELMBs. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of celecoxib 24 hours preoperative, 1 hour preoperative, and 4 hours postoperative administration in patients with arthroscopic knee surgery (AKS).In all, 206 patients who underwent AKS were consecutively recruited and randomized into 3 groups: (1) early preoperative analgesia group (EPEA), celecoxib 400 mg 24 hours preoperative administration; (2) preoperative analgesia group (PEA), celecoxib 400 mg 1 hour preoperative administration; (3) postoperative analgesia group (POA), celecoxib 400 mg 4 hours postoperative administration. Pain visual analog scale (VAS) scores (at rest and at 90 flexion) and patient global assessment (PGA) score were evaluated before and after operation, and also pethidine consumption and adverse events (AEs).The pain-rest VAS score, percentage of patients with moderate-severe pain at rest, and PGA score in the EPEA and PEA groups were decreased compared with POA group at 8 and 12 hours postoperation. Besides, pain-flexion to 90 VAS score in EPEA and PEA groups were also reduced compared with POA group at 8 hours postsurgery. Interestingly, the percentage of patients with moderate-severe pain at 90 flexion at 8 hours postsurgery in PEA group was fewer compared with POA group, whereas at 4 hours postoperation it was reduced in EPEA group compared with PEA and POA groups. As to consumption of pethidine, it was numerically decreased in EPEA and PEA groups compared with POA group. No difference between each 2 groups was found in AEs.Celecoxib was effective and safe as pre-emptive analgesia in AKS, and 1 hour administration before operation might be an optimal choice.

Members of the mammalian tristetraprolin family of CCCH tandem zinc finger proteins can bind to certain AU-rich elements (AREs) in mRNAs, leading to their deadenylation and destabilization. Mammals express three or four members of this family, but Drosophila melanogaster and other insects appear to contain a single gene, Tis11. We found that recombinant Drosophila Tis11 protein could bind to ARE-containing RNA oligonucleotides with low nanomolar affinity. Remarkably, co-expression in mammalian cells with "target" RNAs demonstrated that Tis11 could promote destabilization of ARE-containing mRNAs and that this was partially dependent on a conserved C-terminal sequence resembling the mammalian NOT1 binding domain. Drosophila Tis11 promoted both deadenylation and decay of a target transcript in this heterologous cell system. We used chromosome deletion/duplication and P element insertion to produce two types of Tis11 deficiency in adult flies, both of which were viable and fertile. To address the hypothesis that Tis11 deficiency would lead to the abnormal accumulation of potential target transcripts, we analyzed gene expression in adult flies by deep mRNA sequencing. We identified 69 transcripts from 56 genes that were significantly up-regulated more than 1.5-fold in both types of Tis11-deficient flies. Ten of the up-regulated transcripts encoded probable proteases, but many other functional classes of proteins were represented. Many of the up-regulated transcripts contained potential binding sites for tristetraprolin family member proteins that were conserved in other Drosophila species. Two cases of pulmonary infection due to strains of multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae were investigated. Beta-lactamase determinants, such as bla(IMP-4) and bla(SHV-12), and the 16S rRNA methyltransferase-encoding gene armA were detected in these plasmid-bearing organisms. The integron-borne bla(IMP-4) and armA contained intervening sequences highly related to those of a Vibrio cholerae O139 plasmid found in Hangzhou, China.
