This article endeavours to describe the syntactic system of the old academic publications in the field of linguistics and pedagogy (from 20th century). The research material is constituted by six texts issued in different periods of the development of selected disciplines. In this article it is assumed that the time of texts creation and the specificity of scientific discipline have an impact on the syntactic system. Basing on the analysis of the research material, the author has verified the hypotheses. The following elements have been analysed: relation between simple sentences and compound sentences and parataxis and hypotaxis. The author has also established the functions which are performed by given sentences that are used in early linguistic and pedagogical publications.

This article endeavours to describe one of the most significant qualities of the academic style, that is, the semantic system that has been shaped within it. The author aims at discussing the terms used in old academic publications in the field of linguistics (from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries). Since one of the key features of the terminological system is its changeability, the comparison of vocabulary used in texts written in different periods is believed to be justifiable. Basing on the analysis of the research material, the author characterises tendencies in the development of marked vocabulary in old scientific publications, taking into account the way it has been introduced in the text.

The text is an attempt at describing Polish celebrities’ techniques concerning description of their own motherhood. The research material includes speeches of four famous mothers (Agnieszka Chylińska, Reni Jusis, Katarzyna Bosacka, Katarzyna Cichopek-Hakiel) presented during various television programmes (proprietary programmes and talk shows). The text pays attention to celebrities’ messages, involving their opinions about having children, which are directed to model recipient (woman). On the basis of those opinions there was made a description of various types of celebrities’ behavior (sexy mom, eco mom, expert mom etc). This article also indicates meaning of audiovisual presentation (mothers’ appearance, locution and so on).

The purpose of the present article is to describe and to classify the ways in which the emotional attitude of the speaker toward the problems which are discussed in early scholarly texts. Therefore, research is of diachronic nature. The research material is constituted by four scholarly linguistics-related texts which were published at the turn of the 20th century. As far as the typology is concerned, the author took into consideration mainly the frequency of the occurrence of the particular linguistic units in the texts which are analysed. One also established the functions which are performed by given expressions that are used in early linguistics-related publications and the intentions of the sender of the message. On the basis of the research which was conducted one established the factors which influence the extent to which the texts in question are saturated with expressive phrases. The results of statistical and qualitative research were set against the modern state of affairs.
