COVID-19 sequelae are long-term symptoms of COVID-19. Cardiovascular disease is not only a risk factor for the occurrence of COVID-19 sequelae but also a potential result directly or indirectly caused by COVID-19 infection.

Infections caused by multi-drug resistant organisms(MDRO)is one of the most common nosocomial infection worldwide. Scientific nursing interventions are effective to reduce the incidence of MDRO infection in patients and improve patient satisfaction during treatment. It is also crucial to improve the awareness and importance of MDRO infection among nursing staff, in order to take targeted nursing measures to reduce the incidence of MDRO infection and improve patient satisfaction. This article reviewed studies on the integrated Traditional Chinese and western medicine nursing in prevention and treatment of MDRO infection, and provided reference for clinical prevention and control of MDRO infection. [Objective] The physical and chemical properties and water characteristics of substrates under different eroded microhabitats were studied to provide a theoretical basis for understanding the driving and limiting mechanisms of vegetation settlement and restoration, and to provide scientific references for the practice of vegetation reconstruction in early abandoned mining areas in the North China. [Methods] The mechanical composition, bulk density, capillary porosity, pH value, electrical conductivity, and moisture characteristics of bare slopes, rills, shallow gullies, and deposit bodies were studied, and the relationships between them were analyzed. [Results] Particle size matrices varied among different eroded microhabitats, and there were differences among different soil layers. The bulk density of the substrates in different eroded microhabitats followed the order of shallow gully>rill>bare slope>deposit body, while capillary pore size followed the order of deposit body>bare slope>shallow gully>rill. There were no significant differences in the pH value of different eroded microhabitats, but there were differences in the changes in different soil layers. Electrical conductivity followed the order of deposit body>bare slope>shallow gully>rill, and was higher in the 10—20 cm soil layer than in the 0—10 cm soil layer. The matrix moisture content and capillary water capacity of different eroded microhabitats followed the order of deposit body>bare slope>shallow gully>rill. The matrix moisture content and capillary water capacity of the bare slope and the shallow gully were the lowest on the upper slope, while they were lowest for the rill on the middle slope. [Conclusion] The substrate moisture characteristics of weathered gangue dumps were significantly affected by bulk density and capillary porosity. There were relatively more sand and medium-coarse grain particles in bare slopes and deposit bodies of weathered gangue dumps, and the moisture characteristics were superior. Bare slopes and deposit bodies can provide a safe habitat for vegetation settlement and restoration.

Addressing the issue of oil pollutants and their impact on environmental sustainability, this study prepared sustainable oil-absorbent concrete through particle size adjustment and chemical modification methods. The effects of alkaline activators and seashell powder on the strength and oil absorption performance of the sustainable oil-absorbent concrete were investigated. Based on this, retaining wall blocks with different structural forms were designed for use as oil-absorbing functional concrete materials. Retaining walls with different structural forms and arrangements were calculated by ABAQUS, and their stress and displacement were compared to select the best structural form and arrangement. The research findings indicate that NaOH adversely affected the oil absorption capacity of sustainable oil-absorbent concrete, resulting in a decrease in oil absorption from 207.70 kg/m3 to 104.56 kg/m3; however, it enhanced the compressive strength of the concrete, increasing the 28-day compressive strength by 5.02%. The incorporation of seashell powder exerted a detrimental effect on both the compressive strength and oil absorption performance of the sustainable oil-absorbent concrete. The finite element analysis results show that L-shaped retaining wall bricks with vegetation cavity had better anti-deformation ability, and under the inverted arrangement, the maximum deformation of the retaining wall was 1.148 mm, which was the smallest of all working conditions. The major mechanism of antibody-mediated neutralization of the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) involves competition with the cellular receptor dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4) for binding to the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the spike (S) glycoprotein. Here, we report a unique epitope and unusual neutralizing mechanism of the isolated human antibody MERS-4. Structurally, MERS-4 approached the RBD from the outside of the RBD-DPP4 binding interface. Such binding resulted in the folding of the β5-β6 loop toward a shallow groove on the RBD interface critical for accommodating DPP4. The key residues for binding are identified through site-directed mutagenesis. Structural modeling revealed that MERS-4 binds to RBD only in the "up" position in the S trimer. Furthermore, MERS-4 demonstrated synergy with several reported antibodies. These results indicate that MERS-4 neutralizes MERS-CoV by indirect rather than direct competition with DPP4. This mechanism provides a valuable addition for the combined use of antibodies against MERS-CoV infection.

The main components of sandalwood heartwood essential oil are terpenoids, approximately 80% of which are α-santalol and β-santalol. In the synthesis of the main secondary metabolites of sandalwood heartwood, the key gene, santalene synthase (SaSSY), can produce α-santalene and β-santalene by catalyzed (E, E)-FPP. Furthermore, santalene is catalyzed by the cytochrome monooxygenase SaCYP736A167 to form sandalwood essential oil, which then produces a fragrance. However, the upstream regulatory mechanism of the key gene santalene synthase remains unclear. In this study, SaSSY (Sal3G10690) promoter transcription factors and SaSSY cis-elements were screened. The results showed that the titer of the sandalwood cDNA library was 1.75 × 107 CFU/mL, 80% of the inserted fragments identified by PCR were over 750 bp in length, and the positivity rate of the library was greater than 90%. The promoter region of the SaSSY gene was shown to have the structural basis for potential regulatory factor binding. After sequencing and bioinformatics analysis, we successfully obtained 51 positive clones and identified four potential SaSSY transcriptional regulators. Sal6G03620 was annotated as the transcription factor MYB36-like, and Sal8G07920 was annotated as the small heat shock protein HSP20 in sandalwood. Sal1G00910 was annotated as a hypothetical protein of sandalwood. Sal4G10880 was annotated as a homeobox-leucine zipper protein (ATHB-15) in sandalwood. In this study, a cDNA library of sandalwood was successfully constructed using a yeast one-hybrid technique, and the transcription factors that might interact with SaSSY gene promoters were screened. This study provides a foundation for exploring the molecular regulatory mechanism involved in the formation of sandalwood heartwood. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
