Abstract

Fatigue detection is valued for people to keep mental health and prevent safety accidents. However, detecting facial fatigue, especially mild fatigue in the real world via machine vision is still a challenging issue due to lack of non-lab dataset and well-defined algorithms. In order to improve the detection capability on facial fatigue that can be used widely in daily life, this paper provided an audiovisual dataset named DLFD (daily-life fatigue dataset) which reflected people's facial fatigue state in the wild. A framework using 3D-ResNet along with non-local attention mechanism was training for extraction of local and long-range features in spatial and temporal dimensions. Then, a compacted loss function combining mean squared error and cross-entropy was designed to predict both continuous and categorical fatigue degrees. Our proposed framework has reached an average accuracy of 90.8% on validation set and 72.5% on test set for binary classification, standing a good position compared to other state-of-the-art methods. The analysis of feature map visualization revealed that our framework captured facial dynamics and attempted to build a connection with fatigue state. Our experimental results in multiple metrics proved that our framework captured some typical, micro and dynamic facial features along spatiotemporal dimensions, contributing to the mild fatigue detection in the wild., Comment: 25 pages, 6 figures, 5 tables

Abstract

Development of synbiotic yogurt having multiple health benefits has become a new trend. The purpose of this study was to obtain the optimum stachyose concentration of the goat yogurt fermented by probiotics including Lactobacillus acidophilus (LA) or Lactobacillus casei (LC) besides Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus by measuring pH, acidity, viable counts and the change of stachyose content. The optimal stachyose concentration of goat LA-yogurt and goat LC-yogurt were 0.4% and 0.8%. Under the above concentrations, the total bacteria number and the viable counts of LA were 2.02×109cfu/mL, 3×107cfu/mL, respectively; the total bacteria number and the viable counts of LC were 2.55×109cfu/mL, 2.53×108cfu/mL, respectively. The results indicate that stachyose can effectively improve the vitality and the viable counts of strains in goat yogurt.

49. Complements or Substitutes? A Meta-Analysis of the Role of Social Capital for Knowledge Transfer.

Abstract

Considerable studies focused on the social capital's influence on individual knowledge transfer, but the findings lack coherence. In this study, we conducted a meta-analysis with 108 independent empirical studies to examine the different dimensions of social capital–knowledge transfer relationships and the effects of various contexts. We also explored the internal relationships among social capital dimensions. Results show that structural, relational, and cognitive social capital are all positively related to knowledge transfer, with cognitive social capital being the strongest facilitator. In addition, different dimensions of social capital act as complements to one another. Further examinations reveal that the level of economic development has no significant moderating effect on the relationship between social capital and knowledge transfer. Then, the cultural context moderates the relationship between relational and cognitive social capital and knowledge transfer. Finally, profit climate characteristics moderate the relationship between structural social capital and knowledge transfer. Our study quantitatively integrates different dimensions of social capital and knowledge transfer relationships using meta-analytic techniques. This study also reconciles the present disparate findings and obtains highly generalized conclusions. This study identifies explanations that help understand the mixed results through the moderating effect analysis. Furthermore, this study demonstrates the validity of different dimensional social capital interactions, pointing to important directions for future research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
