E. coli is one of the most widely used organisms for understanding the principles of cellular and molecular genetics. However, we are yet to understand the origin of several experimental observations related to the regulation of gene expression in E. coli. One of the prominent examples in this context is the proportional synthesis in multiprotein complexes where all of their obligate subunits are produced in proportion to their stoichiometry. In this work, by combining the next-generation sequencing data with the stochastic simulations of protein synthesis, we explain the origin of proportional protein synthesis in multicomponent complexes. We find that the estimated initiation rates for the translation of all subunits in those complexes are proportional to their stoichiometry. This constraint on protein synthesis kinetics enforces proportional protein synthesis without requiring any feedback mechanism. We also find that the translation initiation rates in E. coli are influenced by the coding sequence length and the enrichment of A and C nucleotides near the start codon. Thus, this study rationalizes the role of conserved and nonrandom features of genes in regulating the translation kinetics and unravels a key principle of the regulation of protein synthesis.

In today's digital era, advancements in technology have led to unparalleled levels of connectivity, but have also brought forth a new wave of cyber threats. Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) are crucial for ensuring the security and integrity of networked systems by identifying and mitigating unauthorized access and malicious activities. Traditional machine learning techniques have been extensively employed for this purpose due to their high accuracy and low false alarm rates. However, these methods often fall short in detecting sophisticated and evolving threats, particularly those involving subtle variations or mutations of known attack patterns. To address this challenge, our study presents the "Optimized Random Forest (Opt-Forest)," an innovative ensemble model that combines decision forest approaches with genetic algorithms (GAs) for enhanced intrusion detection. The genetic algorithms based decision forest construction offers notable benefits by traversing a wider exploration space and mitigating the risk of becoming stuck in local optima, resulting in the discovery of more accurate and compact decision trees. Leveraging advanced feature selection techniques, including Best-First Search, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Evolutionary Search, and Genetic Search (GS), along with contemporary dataset, this research aims to enhance the adaptability and resilience of NIDS against modern cyber threats. We conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the proposed approach against several well-known machine learning models, including AdaBoostM1 (AbM1), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), J48-Decision Tree (J48), multilayer perceptron (MLP), stochastic gradient descent (SGD), naïve Bayes (NB), and logistic model tree (LMT). The comparative analysis demonstrates the effectiveness and superiority of our method across various performance metrics, highlighting its potential to significantly enhance the capabilities of network intrusion detection systems. Autonomous vehicles (AVs) strive to adapt to the specific characteristics of sustainable urban environments. Accurate 3D object detection with LiDAR is paramount for autonomous driving. However, existing research predominantly relies on the 3D object-based assumption, which overlooks the complexity of real-world road environments. Consequently, current methods experience performance degradation when targeting only local features and overlooking the intersection of objects and road features, especially in uneven road conditions. This study proposes a 3D Object-Oriented-Segmentation Spatial-Attention ( O 2 SAT) approach to distinguish object points from road points and enhance the keypoint feature learning by a channel-wise spatial attention mechanism. O 2 SAT consists of three modules: Object-Oriented Segmentation (OOS), Spatial-Attention Feature Reweighting (SFR), and Road-Aware 3D Detection Head (R3D). OOS distinguishes object and road points and performs object-aware downsampling to augment data by learning to identify the hidden connection between landscape and object; SFR performs weight augmentation to learn crucial neighboring relationships and dynamically adjust feature weights through spatial attention mechanisms, which enhances the long-range interactions and contextual feature discrimination for noise suppression, improving overall detection performance; and R3D utilizes refined object segmentation and optimized feature representations. Our system forecasts prediction confidence into existing point-backbones. Our method's effectiveness and robustness across diverse datasets (KITTI) has been demonstrated through vast experiments. In the rapidly evolving landscape of transportation infrastructure, the quality and condition of road networks play a pivotal role in societal progress and economic growth. In the realm of road distress detection, traditional methods have long grappled with manual intervention and high costs, requiring trained observers for time-consuming and expensive data collection processes. The limitations of these approaches are compounded by challenges in adapting to diverse road surfaces and handling low-resolution data, particularly in early automated distress survey technologies. This article addresses the critical need for efficient road distress detection, a key component of ensuring safe and reliable transportation systems. Effectively addressing these challenges is crucial for enhancing the efficiency, accuracy, and safety of road distress detection systems. Leveraging advancements in object detection, we introduce the Innovative Road Distress Detection (IR-DD), a novel framework that integrates the YOLOv8 algorithm to enhance the accuracy and real-time capabilities of road distress detection, catering to applications such as smart cities and autonomous vehicles. Our approach incorporates bidirectional feature pyramid network (BiFPN) recursive feature fusion and bidirectional connections to optimize the utilization of multi-scale features, addressing challenges related to information loss and gradients encountered in traditional methods. Comprehensive experimental analysis demonstrates the superior performance, efficiency, and robustness of our integrated approach, positioning it as a cost-effective and compelling alternative to conventional road distress detection methods. Our findings demonstrate the superior performance of our approach compared to other state-of-the-art methods across various evaluation metrics, including precision, recall, F1 score, and mean average precision (mAP) at different intersection over union (IoU) thresholds. Specifically, our method achieves notable results with a precision of 0.666, F1 score of 0.630, mAP@0.5 of 0.650, all while operating at a speed of 86 frames per second (FPS). These outcomes underscore the effectiveness of our approach in real-time road distress detection. This article contributes to the ongoing innovation in object detection techniques, emphasizing the practicality and effectiveness of our proposed solution in advancing the field of road distress detection. Quantitative prediction on protein synthesis requires accurate translation initiation and codon translation rates. Ribosome profiling data, which provide steady-state distribution of relative ribosome occupancies along a transcript, can be used to extract these rate parameters. Various methods have been developed in the past few years to measure translation-initiation and codon translation rates from ribosome profiling data. In the review, we provide a detailed analysis of the key methods employed to extract the translation rate parameters from ribosome profiling data. We further discuss how these approaches were used to decipher the role of various structural and sequence-based features of mRNA molecules in the regulation of gene expression. The utilization of these accurate rate parameters in computational modeling of protein synthesis may provide new insights into the kinetic control of the process of gene expression.

Protection against lightning is always a challenging job for the researcher. The consequences due to lightning on different building shapes needs a comprehensive knowledge in order to provide the information to the common man. This paper is mainly concern with lightning pattern when it strikes on the building with different shape. The work is based on the practical experimental work in high voltage laboratory. Different shapes of the scaled structures have been selected in order to investigate the equal distribution of lightning voltage. The equal distribution of lightning voltage will provide the maximum probability of lightning strike on air terminal of the selected shapes. Building shapes have a very important role in lightning protection. The shapes of the roof tops have different geometry and the Franklin rod installation is also varies with changing the shape of the roof top. According to the ambient weather condition of Malaysia high voltage impulse is applied on the lightning rod installed on different geometrical shape. The equal distribution of high voltage impulse is obtained as the geometry of the scaled structure is identical and the air gap for all the tested object is kept the same. This equal distribution of the lightning voltage also proves that the probability of lightning strike is on the corner and the edges of the building structure.

The flora of Tehsil Utman Khel, District Bajaur comprised of total 238 plant species belonging to 208 genera and 89 families. Among them, 59 species were identified as Non-native. The dominant family was Poaceae (17 species) which was followed by Asteraceae (15 species), Papilionaceae Rosaceae (13 species each), and Solanaceae (10 species). The habit of flora was led by herbs (149 species, 62.6%) followed by shrubs (46 species, 20%) and trees (43 species, 18%). There were 177 wild species and 61 cultivated species. The leading life forms were therophytes having 83 species and nanophanerophytes 49 species. Microphylls with 89 species, Mesophylls with 75 species and nanophylls with 43 species were the leading leaf size classes. Simple leaves (156 species, 65.55%) followed by compound leaves (18.91%), dissected leaves (10.51%) and needle leaves (3.78 %) were the documented leaf types. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Research was done to compare self-efficacy and scholastic performance of Government Higher Secondary Schools students. Self-efficacy is the belief and confidence of students on their effort for success in the subject. The objective of the study was comparison of self-efficacy and scholastic performance across streams. 5 out of 17 Government Higher Secondary Schools for Boys, Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa covered the study sample. The data was collected from 488 students of Government Higher Secondary Schools for Boys, Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the help of 19 items self-efficacy questionnaire. The data was analyzed by applying t-test (SPSS-17). The difference was found between self-efficacy and scholastic performance across streams. Recommendations were drawn to enhance self-efficacy for students' motivation and success in their career. Further it is suggested to arrange different types of activities like program competition and lectures for awareness and boosting self-efficacy of students for the enhancement of their performance.
