[Objective] To analyze the scale-dependent relationships between daily sediment yield and key environmental factors and to explore effective prediction method to cope with the prediction challenges caused by the complexity of sediment transport mechanisms and the nonlinearity of hydrological processes. [Methods] Employing the Composite Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise (CEEMDAN) approach, we analyzed the multi-temporal scale variability characteristics between daily sediment yield and five potential influencing variables (flow rate, precipitation, average temperature, potential evapotranspiration, and NDVI) in the controled regions of four hydrological stations in the Fu River basin of Southwest China from 2013 to 2018. Interactions between daily sediment yield and related variables at different temporal scales were identified, upon which predictions of daily sediment yield were predicted. [Results] The CEEMDAN method successfully decomposed the daily sediment yield and its potential influencing variables into 10-11 intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) and residual item, revealing the significant changes of the daily sediment yield at different temporal scales ranging from 3 to 730 days. After decomposition, daily sediment yield showed significantly enhanced correlation with howrate and precipitation across all temporal scales, whereas temperature, potential evapotranspiration, and NDVI were primarily significantly correlated with long-term scale sediment yields. By using stepwise multiple linear regression to predict the daily sediment yield, the prediction performance of the model is significant, and the R2 values exceeds 0.55 at all stations. [Conclusion] The CEEMDAN method effectively revealed the scale dependency between sediment yield and its influencing variables, offering a new perspective for understanding the dynamics of river sediment transport.

The goal of the study involved the comparison of clinical efficacy of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT) in the treatment of malignant lymphoma (ML). The effectiveness of allo-HSCT versus auto-HSCT in the treatment of ML was compared by searching EMBASE, PubMed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library for relevant studies. The confidence intervals (CI) and odds ratio (OR) of the article’s outcomes were described by a forest plot. Finally, 972 patients in seven articles were included. Overall survival (OS) did not differ significantly between allo-HSCT and auto-HSCT groups (OR = 0.87, 95% CI: 0.66–1.14, P = 0.31). Furthermore, there was no significant difference in adverse reactions (AR) between the two groups (OR = 1.35, 95% CI: 0.81–2.24, P = 0.25). We observed a significant difference in progression-free survival (PFS) between the two groups (OR = 4.14, 95% CI: 2.93–5.35, P < 0.01). There was no evidence of publication bias in this meta-analysis. The incidence of OS and AR differ significantly between allo-HSCT and auto-HSCT, but the PFS was longer in ML patients who received allo-HSCT.

Objective To determine the expression and clinical significance of pseudogene FMO6P in gastric cancer, and explore its functions and underlying molecular mechanism in regulating the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer cells. Methods The expression level of FMO6P in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines was detected by quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR). The migration and invasion abilities of gastric cancer cells were detected by transwell assay. The effect of FMO6P on the tumor formation and peritoneal dissemination of gastric cancer cells were evaluated by injecting FMO6P-overexpressing gastric cancer cells into the subcutaneous or peritoneal cavity of nude mice respectively. The expression levels of epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) markers, including E-cadherin, N-cadherin, ZEB1, MMP2, and the activation of AKT/mTOR pathway in FMO6P-overexpressing or knockdown gastric cancer cells were measured by Western blot. Results The expression of FMO6P was significantly reduced in tumor tissues compared to its adjacent non-tumor tissues of gastric cancer, FMO6P expression level in tumor tissues was correlated with tumor size and TNM stage. Overexpression of FMO6P significantly inhibited the invasion and migration abilities of gastric cancer cells, while downregulation of FMO6P expression promoted the invasion and migration ability of gastric cancer cells. Overexpression of FMO6P in gastric cancer cells significantly inhibited the subcutaneous tumor formation and peritoneal dissemination of gastric cancer cells in nude mice. Moreover, overexpression of FMO6P promoted the expression of E-cadherin, and inhibited the expression of N-cadherin, ZEB1, and MMP2 in gastric cancer cells. The phosphorylation levels of AKT and mTOR were also downregulated in gastric cancer cells overexpressing FMO6P. Conclusion All these findings suggested that pseudogene FMO6P suppresses the invasion and migration potential of gastric cancer cells in vitro and in vivo, which is possibly through the inhibition of the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway.

The aim of this study was to analyze the role of Ezrin in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and investigate potential therapeutic targets for ESCC by interfering with Ezrin expression. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that Ezrin expression differed significantly among patients with different clinical stage ESCC. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between Ezrin and yes-associated protein/connective tissue growth factor (YAP1/CTGF) levels in esophageal cancer. Sixty paraffin-embedded ESCC tissue samples were examined and Ezrin and YAP1/CTGF levels were determined using immunohistochemistry. The positive expression rates of Ezrin and YAP1/CTGF were significantly lower in adjacent tissues than in ESCC tissues. Furthermore, knockdown of Ezrin expression inhibited colony formation and reduced cell migration and invasion. Compared with control ESCC cells, protein expression levels of YAP1 and CTGF were significantly downregulated in cells with Ezrin knocked down. We conclude that Ezrin may be involved in ESCC progression through the Hippo signaling pathway.

Heroin can cause damage to many human organs, possibly leading to different types of arrhythmias and abnormal electrophysiological function of the heart muscle and the steady state of calcium-ion channels. We explored cardiomyocytes treated with heroin and the effect on calcium-ion channels. Transcriptomics and metabolomics were used to screen for differential genes and metabolite alterations after heroin administration to jointly analyze the effect of heroin on calcium channels in cardiomyocytes. Cardiomyocytes from primary neonatal rats were cultured in vitro and were treated with different concentrations of heroin to observe the changes in morphology and spontaneous beat frequency and rhythm by a patch clamp technique. Transcriptomic studies selected a total of 1,432 differentially expressed genes, 941 upregulated and 491 downregulated genes in rat cardiomyocytes from the control and drug intervention groups. Gene Ontology functional enrichment showed that 1,432 differential genes selected by the two groups were mainly involved in the regulation of the multicellular organismal process, response to external stimulus, myofibril, inflammatory response, muscle system process, cardiac muscle contraction, etc. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analysis indicated that these genes were mainly concentrated in cardiac muscle contraction, osteoclast differentiation, adrenergic signaling in cardiomyocytes, dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and other important pathways. Metabolomic testing further suggested that cardiomyocyte metabolism was severely affected after heroin intervention. After the treatment with heroin, the L-type calcium channel current I–V curve was up-shifted, the peak value was significantly lower than that of the control group, action potential duration 90 was significantly increased in the action potential, resting potential negative value was lowered, and action potential amplitude was significantly decreased in cardiomyocytes. In this study, heroin could cause morphological changes in primary cardiomyocytes of neonatal rats and electrophysiological function. Heroin can cause myocardial contraction and calcium channel abnormalities, damage the myocardium, and change the action potential and L-type calcium channel.

Background and objective: Cardio-oncology that focuses on the management of cardiovascular toxicity associated with cancer therapy, has grown rapidly worldwide as an emerging interdisciplinary discipline over the past decade. This study aimed to summarize the hot spots and development trends of cardio-oncology to provide a reference for scientific researchers in related fields based on bibliometrics. Methods: CiteSpace was employed to conduct the visualized analysis of annual publications, authors, countries, citations and keywords of the related papers from 2012 to 2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI). Results: A total of 4 287 English articles and 1 165 Chinese articles were included after screening. At present, the number of foreign literature in the field of cardio-oncology, showed a trend of rapid growth, while our country has "slow development period" and "rapid development period" with 2016 as the boundary. The United States is the country with the largest number of publications in Web of Science, accounting for about 34.21% of the total, followed by China, Italy and other countries. The institutions with the largest number of publications at home and abroad are the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University. Bonnie KY, Ana Barac, Paaladinesh Thavendiranathan are the main contributors abroad, and Xia Yunlong, Zhang Yuhui and Cheng Leilei are the main contributors in China. The most frequently cited literature is the position statement on cancer treatment and cardiovascular toxicity from the European Society of Cardiology. The most frequently used keywords abroad were "heart failure", "breast cancer" and "cardiotoxicity", while the most frequently used keywords in China were "cardiotoxicity", "cardiac tumor" and "doxorubicin". Keywords with the strongest citation bursts at home and abroad in recent three years are "immune checkpoint inhibitors". Conclusion: The research hotspots mainly focus on cardiotoxicity caused by antineoplastic therapy, prevention and treatment, screening and diagnosis of cardiovascular toxicity associated with cancer therapy, etc. Establishing a multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment model and paying attention to the immune checkpoint inhibitor-related myocarditis and whole process management of cardio-oncology are the directions of future development.

Background: Brentuximab vedotin (BV) has demonstrated high remission rates in clinical trials for systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma (sALCL), yet its real-world effectiveness in China remains unconfirmed. This retrospective observational study evaluates BV-based regimens in patients with sALCL, treated from 2020 to 2023. Methods: A multi-center observational retrospective study was conducted on patients with sALCL received BV plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and prednisone (CHP) upfront or BV plus gemcitabine, oxaliplatin(GemOx), gemcitabine, cisplatin, dexamethasone(GDP), or isocyclophosphamide, carboplatin, etoposide (ICE)for later lines. Primary endpoints were complete response rate (CRR) and overall response rate (ORR); secondary endpoints included progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), duration of response (DOR), and the incidence of adverse events (AEs). Results: Among the 38 patients (28 newly diagnosed and 10 with refractory/relapsed disease), the ORR were 100% (with 89.3% CR) for newly diagnosed patients and 70% (with 50% CR) for refractory/relapsed patients. The median duration of response was 14 months for newly diagnosed patients and 23.8 months for those with refractory/relapsed disease. 2-year Survival rates were 100% for newly diagnosed patients and 80% for refractory/relapsed patients, with 2-year PFS rates of 92.8% and 70%, respectively. Neurological toxicities were commonly observed but resolved following the completion of treatment. Conclusion: BV has proven to be effective and well-tolerated in real-world settings for the treatment of sALCL, reinforcing its potential as a promising option for first-line or subsequent therapy. Background: Disease progression within 24 months (POD24) significantly impacts overall survival (OS) in patients with follicular lymphoma (FL). This study aimed to develop a robust predictive model, FLIPI-C, using a machine learning approach to identify FL patients at high risk of POD24. Methods: A cohort of 1,938 FL patients (FL1-3a) from seventeen centers nationwide in China was randomly divided into training and internal validation sets (2:1 ratio). XGBoost was utilized to construct the POD24-predicting model, which was internally validated in the validation set and externally validated in the GALLIUM cohort. Key predictors of POD24 included lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) > ULN, low hemoglobin (Hb), elevated beta-2 microglobulin (β2-MG), maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), and lymph node involvement. The FLIPI-C model assigned 2 points to LMR and 1 point to each of the other variables. Results: The FLIPI-C model demonstrated superior accuracy (AUC) for predicting POD24 and 3-year overall survival (OS) in both the internal (AUC POD24: 0.764, OS: 0.700) and external validation cohorts (AUC POD24: 0.703, OS: 0.653), compared to existing models (FLIPI, FLIPI-2, PRIMA-PI, FLEX). Decision curve analysis confirmed the superior net benefits of FLIPI-C. Conclusions: Developed using a machine learning approach, the FLIPI-C model offers superior predictive accuracy and utilizes simple, widely available markers. It holds promise for informing treatment decisions and prognostic assessments in clinical practice for FL patients at high risk of POD24. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Increased expression of membrane type 1-matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP/MMP14) is associated with the development of many cancers. MT1-MMP may promote the entry of yes-associated protein1 (YAP1) into the nucleus by regulating the regulation of β1-integrin. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of MT1-MMP, β1-integrin and YAP1 on the prognosis of gliomas. The expression of proteins was detected by bioinformatics and immunohistochemistry. The relationship between three proteins and clinicopathological parameters was analyzed by the χ 2 test. Survival analysis was used to investigate the effects of three proteins on prognosis. The results showed that high expressions of MT1-MMP, β1-integrin and YAP1 were found in glioblastoma (GBM) compared with lower-grade glioma (LGG). There was a significantly positive correlation between MT1-MMP and β1-integrin (r = 0.387), MT1-MMP and YAP1 (r = 0.443), β1-integrin and YAP1 (r = 0.348). Survival analysis showed that patients with overexpression of MT1-MMP, β1-integrin and YAP1 had a worse prognosis. YAP1 expression was the independent prognostic factor for progression-free survival (PFS). There was a statistical correlation between the expression of MT1-MMP and YAP1 and isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDHl) mutation. Thus, this study suggested that MT1-MMP, β1-integrin and YAP1, as tumor suppressors, are expected to be promising prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for glioma patients.
