The 3-phase induction motor is an electric motor that is very widely used in society because it is reliable and easy to operate. This 3-phase induction motor's efficiency is still being worked on in a number of different ways, such as by enhancing the ferromagnetic material and increasing the number of phases in the motor winding. To boost motor efficiency, all these efforts come at such a high additional cost. With the help of this research, a 3-phase induction motor's efficiency can be raised without incurring significant additional costs for the motor. The answer offered in this paper is to convert the winding design for a 3-phase induction motor into an asymmetrical 6-phase winding using a 1-layer construction. The performance of proposed motor is then compared with the performance of a conventional 3-phase induction motor, which has the same stator and rotor construction as the proposed motor. From the results of the study by operating both motors on a 3-phase system, it was found that the newly designed motor has higher efficiency than a conventional 3-phase induction motor, but with a lower winding current.
