1. Subharmonic oscillations in the Floquet circuit with the frequency-synthesis dimension

Abstract

The period-doubling oscillation emerges with the coexistence between zero and {\pi} modes in Floquet topological insulator. Here, utilized the flexibility of the circuit, we construct the Floquet circuit with frequency-synthetic dimension and find the topological-protected deeply-subharmonic oscillations with the period extensively exceeding the doubling-driven period. In the construction framework, the periodically-driven mechanism is attained by implementing the circuit-oscillator hierarchy with the stepping-variation resonances in frequency domain. The zero and {\pi} modes that arise at the Floquet band in the circuit indicate the anomalous boundary-bulk correspondence. The coexistence of zero and {\pi} modes, results in a subharmonic oscillation with the extremely-low frequency on the edge of the Floquet circuit. Furthermore, we explore the Floquet band with the enhanced periodically-driven strength tailored by the component flexibility of the circuit. Abstract

Quadrupole topological insulators are a new class of topological insulators with quantized quadrupole moments, which support protected gapless corner states. The experimental demonstrations of quadrupole-topological insulators were reported in a series of artificial materials, such as photonic crystals, acoustic crystals, and electrical circuits. In all these cases, the underlying structures have discrete translational symmetry and thus are periodic. Here we experimentally realize two-dimensional aperiodic-quasicrystalline quadrupole-topological insulators by constructing them in electrical circuits, and observe the spectrally and spatially localized corner modes. In measurement, the modes appear as topological boundary resonances in the corner impedance spectra. Additionally, we demonstrate the robustness of corner modes on the circuit. Our circuit design may be extended to study topological phases in higher-dimensional aperiodic structures.

Abstract

We numerically and experimentally investigate collective resonant responses of coherent metasurfaces consisting of planar random-flip asymmetrically split rings. The collective narrow band response becomes broader and eventually disappears with increasing the percentage of flipped split rings. The exploited physical mechanism is the degraded collective response due to random microscopic multipole excitation. 27. Ideal type-II Weyl points in topological circuits

Abstract

Weyl points (WPs), as nodal degenerate points in three-dimensional (3D) momentum space, are ideal if they are symmetry-related, well-separated, residing at the same energy and far from the nontopological bands. Although type-II WPs show some unique features compared with type-I counterparts, ideal type-II WPs have not yet been reported due to the lack of an ideal Weyl system with enough flexibility to tilt the dispersion bands. By stacking two-dimensional (2D) layers of inductor-capacitor (LC) resonator dimers with the breaking of parity inversion symmetry, here we experimentally realize the topological circuits with only the topological bands and observe a minimal number of four ideal type-II WPs. Two hallmark features of type-II WPs: a strongly tilted band structure with two group velocities having the same sign near type-II WPs and the topological surface states in an incomplete bandgap have been demonstrated. Our results establish an ideal system to the further study of Weyl physics and provide a new perspective to the access of topological matters.

46. Investigation of the Suppression Effect on Laser Phase Noise in Very-Low-Frequency Elliptic-Fitting Phase Difference Measurement System

Abstract

For hydrophones with very-low frequency (VLF) and high detection resolution, elliptic-fitting phase-difference demodulation technology (EF-PDDT) will be investigated for suppressive effect on laser phase noise (LPN) and advantage of measuring VLF signal. The suppressive effect was analyzed by examining two types of phase noise resulting from center-frequency drift and linewidth of laser. The experimental results demonstrate that EF-PDDT achieves a suppressive effect of 44 dB on the phase signal, and the effect of 48 dB can be achieved on a wider linewidth laser. In the detection of VLF signals, EF-PDDT has higher information-utilization efficiency compared to quadrature phase demodulation technology, resulting in a reduction of data volume by 66 dB and circumventing the limitations imposed by long-term sampling due to equipment performance, thereby enhancing spectral resolution. Hence, EF-PDDT is an effective solution for improving the detection resolution of VLF signals and finding applications in fields, such as underwater communication and seismic-wave monitoring.

47. Daytime and nighttime aerosol soluble iron formation in clean and slightly polluted moist air in a coastal city in eastern China.

Abstract

Photocatalytic reactions during the daytime, alongside aqueous-phase reactions occurring during both daytime and nighttime, are identified as the two primary processes facilitating the conversion of aerosol iron (Fe) from the insoluble state to the soluble state within the atmospheric environment. This study investigated the levels of total Fe (Fe T) and soluble Fe (Fe S) in PM 2.5 samples collected during daytime and nighttime in Qingdao, a coastal city in eastern China, evaluating the distinctive roles of these two pathways in enhancing aerosol Fe solubility (%Fe S , defined as the ratio of Fe S to Fe T). Under clean and humid conditions, characterized by prevailing sea breezes and a relative humidity (RH) typically above 80 %, an average daytime %Fe S of 8.7 % was observed, which systematically exceeded the nighttime %Fe S (6.3 %). Photochemical conversions involving oxalate contributed to the higher %Fe S observed during daytime. Conversely, in scenarios where air masses originated from inland areas and exhibited slightly polluted, daytime %Fe S (3.7 %) was noted to be lower than the nighttime %Fe S (5.8 %). This discrepancy was attributable to the variations in RH, with nighttime RH averaging around 77 %, conducive to the more efficient generation of acidic compounds, thereby accelerating Fe S production compared to the daytime, when RH was only about 62 %. Furthermore, the oxidation rates of sulfur (SOR) displayed a strong correlation with RH, particularly when RH fell below 75 %. A 10 % increase in RH corresponded to a 7.6 % rise in SOR, which served as the primary driver of the higher aerosol acidity and %Fe S at night. These findings highlight the RH-dependent activation of aqueous-phase reactions and the augmentation of daytime photocatalysis in the formation of Fe S in the coastal moist atmosphere. 48. Study on Strain Fatigue Properties of Silane Modified Polyether Sealant.

Abstract

The study investigated the strain fatigue properties of 4 types of silane-modified polyether (MS) sealants under different conditions. The results indicate that the shear strain frequency will not change the service life of MS sealant, but it will significantly change the duration. It is advisable to select a shear strain frequency of 10 Hz. The greater the average strain, the shorter the service life of MS sealant. With a fixed strain ratio of 0.1, MS sealants show no damage after 10 million cycles of strain when the average strain is not exceed 1.25 mm. After D4 curve environmental aging according to ISO standard 9142:2003, 4 types of MS sealant has the service life of exceed 10 million cycles, a modest decrease in shear strength and a marked increase in shear fracture elongation. The shear strength declines a little, and the shear break elongation increaseds significantly, MS sealant 4# has been disbonded from the substrate, yet the shear strength retention rate exceeds 80% after aging. The MS sealant strain fatigue test provides references for the design of MS sealant applied in rail vehicles, aviation and other fields. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
