We investigated the radial and non-radial fundamental ($f$) mode oscillations of self-bound (quark) stars obtained after employing the Vector MIT (vMIT) bag model. Within this model, we computed the equation of state for strange quark matter satisfying thermodynamic consistency. This allowed us to obtain the corresponding behavior of the speed of sound, mass-radius relation, and gravitational redshift. In particular, our choice of $G_V$ = 0.30 fm$^2$ produces masses and radii in agreement with recent astronomical data (e.g. from NICER and HESS J1731). In fact, we tested that variations of the remaining vMIT parameters slightly modify this conclusion. Then, we proceeded to compute the radial oscillation frequencies of the $f$-mode, which is tightly connected to the dynamical stability of these compact stars. We found that increments of the $G_V$ parameter have a stabilizing property around the maximal-mass stars for a given stellar family. We also calculated the gravitational-wave frequencies of the non-radial $f$-mode. Our results show that they are restricted to be in the range (1.6 - 1.8) kHz for high-mass stars and to (1.5 - 1.6) kHz for low-mass stars. Finally, we propose a universal relation between these frequencies and the square root of the average density. We analyze the sensitivity of non-radial fluid oscillation modes and tidal deformations in neutron stars to high-order nuclear empirical parameters (NEP). In particular, we study the impact of the curvature and skewness of the symmetry energy $K_{\rm sym}$, $Q_{\rm sym}$, and the skewness of the binding energy in symmetric nuclear matter $Q_{\rm sat}$. As we are interested in the possibility of gravitational wave detection by future interferometers, we consider that the tidal interaction is the driving force for the quadrupolar non-radial fluid oscillations. We have also studied the correlations between those quantities, which will be useful to understand the strong physics of gravitational wave phenomena. Our main results show that $K_{\rm sym}$ impacts the frequencies of the fundamental mode mainly for low-mass neutron stars. The NEP $Q_{\rm sym}$ and $Q_{\rm sat}$ affect the fundamental modes of intermediate and heavy neutron stars, respectively. In the case of the first pressure mode, $K_{\rm sym}$ shows a small effect, while $Q_{\rm sat}$ shows a considerable decrease in this oscillation mode independent of the neutron star mass. Similarly, for tidal deformability, the NEP $Q_{\rm sat}$ and $Q_{\rm sym}$ show a bigger impact than $K_{\rm sym}$. Given the impact of the NEP on gravitational wave phenomena and the currently large uncertainties of these parameters, the prospect of higher sensitivity in future gravitational wave detectors promise a possible new tool to constrain high-order NEP.

In this work we study, within the framework of Cowling approximation, the effect of the electric charge on the gravitational wave frequency of fluid oscillation modes of strange quark stars. For this purpose, the dense matter of the stellar fluid is described by the MIT bag model equation of state (EoS), while for the electric charge profile, we consider that the electric charge density is proportional to the energy density. We find that the gravitational wave frequencies change with the increment of electric charge; these effects are more noticeable at higher total mass values. We obtain that the $f$-mode is very sensitive to the change in the electric charge of the star. Furthermore, in the case of the $p_1$ mode, the effect of the electric charge is not very significant. Our results reveal that the study of the fundamental pulsation mode of an electrically charged compact star is very important in distinguishing whether compact stars could contain electric charge. We also employ another electric charge distribution profile that follows a power law, and it is found that the $f$-mode change is more noticeable than the $p_1$-mode when the electric charge is incremented., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures and 1 table

This study explores the behavior of compact stars within the framework of $f(R,L_m,T)$ gravity, focusing on the functional form $f(R,L_m,T) = R + \alpha TL_m$. The modified Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations are derived and numerically solved for several values of the free parameter $\alpha$ by considering both quark and hadronic matter -- described by realistic equations of state (EoSs). Furthermore, the stellar structure equations are adapted for two different choices of the matter Lagrangian density (namely, $L_m= p$ and $L_m= -\rho$), laying the groundwork for our numerical analysis. As expected, we recover the traditional TOV equations in General Relativity (GR) when $\alpha \rightarrow 0$. Remarkably, we found that the two choices for $L_m$ have appreciably different effects on the mass-radius diagrams. Results showcase the impact of $\alpha$ on compact star properties, while final remarks summarize key findings and discuss implications, including compatibility with observational data from NGC 6397's neutron star. Open government and open (government) data are seen as tools to create new opportunities, eliminate or at least reduce information inequalities and improve public services. More than a decade of these efforts has provided much experience, practices, and perspectives to learn how to better deal with them. This paper focuses on benchmarking of open data initiatives over the years and attempts to identify patterns observed among European countries that could lead to disparities in the development, growth, and sustainability of open data ecosystems. To do this, we studied benchmarks and indices published over the last years (57 editions of 8 artifacts) and conducted a comparative case study of eight European countries, identifying patterns among them considering different potentially relevant contexts such as e-government, open government data, open data indices and rankings, and others relevant for the country under consideration. Using a Delphi method, we reached a consensus within a panel of experts and validated a final list of 94 patterns, including their frequency of occurrence among studied countries and their effects on the respective countries. Finally, we took a closer look at the developments in identified contexts over the years and defined 21 recommendations for more resilient and sustainable open government data initiatives and ecosystems and future steps in this area., Comment: 46 pages

We investigate possible traces of the nuclear symmetry energy slope ($L$) in the gravitational wave emission of neutron stars. For fixed stellar mass values, we examine how the slope influences the stellar radius, compactness, the tidal deformability, the frequency of the quadrupole fundamental fluid mode, and the damping time of the mode due to the gravitational wave emission. The effects of the anisotropy on the fluid pulsation modes adopting the so-called Cowling approximation and tidal deformability of strange quark stars are investigated by using the numerical integration of the hydrostatic equilibrium, nonradial oscillations, and tidal deformability equations, being these equations modified from their standard form to include the anisotropic effects. The fluid matter inside the compact stars is described by the MIT bag model equation of state. For the anisotropy profile, we consider a local anisotropy that is both regular at the center and null at the star's surface. We find that the effect of the anisotropy is reflected in the fluid pulsation modes and tidal deformability. In this work, we investigate the existence of neutron stars (NS) in the framework of $f$($\mathbb{T}$,$\mathcal{T}$) gravity, where $\mathbb{T}$ is the torsion tensor and $\mathcal{T}$ is the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. The hydrostatic equilibrium equations are obtained, however, with $p$ and $\rho$ quantities passed on by effective quantities $\bar{p}$ and $\bar{\rho}$, whose mass-radius diagrams are obtained using modern equations of state (EoS) of nuclear matter derived from relativistic mean field models and compared with the ones computed by the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations. Substantial changes in the mass-radius profiles of NS are obtained even for small changes in the free parameter of this modified theory. The results indicate that the use of $f$($\mathbb{T}$,$\mathcal{T}$) gravity in the study of NS provides good results for the masses and radii of some important astrophysical objects, as for example, the low-mass X-ray binary (LMXB) NGC 6397 and the pulsar of millisecond PSR J0740+6620. In addition, radii results inferred from the Lead Radius EXperiment (PREX-2) can also be described for certain parameter values.

In this work, we have made a systematic study of how the gravitational wave frequency of the fundamental mode from compact stars is affected by anisotropic effects using realistic equations of state. Our study is an extension of the seminal research performed by Doneva [Phys. Rev. D 85 (2012) 124023], where a polytropic equation of state was used. To achieve our objective, we considered compact stars which were built by using equations of state in the framework of a relativistic mean field theory for the case of hadronic stars and in the framework of the MIT model for the case of quark stars. In order to obtain some pertinent information that could give us the possibility to detect the anisotropy in compact stars, we also studied and analized the behaviour of various global stellar quantities, e.g., gravitational redshift, stellar mass, radius, among others. We concluded that the anisotropic effects can have important consequences, which are strongly related to the anisotropic parameter and the equation of state of high density matter. Additionally, a comparison with observational data has been made and we have shown that the anisotropic parameter $\lambda$ can be used as a tuning parameter to reproduce mass and radius observational data of neutron stars., Comment: 13 pages, 14 figures e 2 tables

A holographic model is used to investigate the thermodynamics and the phase diagram of a heavy quarks system. From such a model we obtain an equation of state and explore its applicability in astrophysical conditions. For this objective, we work in the context of the Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) holographic model for quantum chromodynamics (QCD). At first, we show the existence of a critical point where the first-order transitions line ends, later on, we calculated an analytic expression for the equation of state. Additionally, with the aim of investigating the global properties of compact stars, such as the total gravitational mass and radius, the equation of state is used to solve the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkov (TOV) equations for stellar structure. The numerical results show that our equation of state is able to reproduce the expected behavior of hybrid stars. Our main conclusion is that, by using an equation of state emerging in the framework of the EMD holographic model for QCD, it is possible to obtain quark matter properties and that it is also possible to extend the procedure to astrophysical applications., Comment: 16 pages, 11 figures

In this work, we have investigated anisotropic neutron stars in the framework of Rastall-Rainbow gravity. All our calculations were computed using the IU-FSU realistic equation of state (EoS), in which was considered two cases: standard nucleonic composition and the one with the eight lightest baryons. From the neutron star masses and radii obtained we conclude that anisotropic pressure has significant consequences on the structure of stellar objects. In particular, when anisotropy is considered within the general relativity framework, it significantly modifies the maximum stellar mass. On the other hand, when Rastall-Rainbow gravity and anisotropy are simultaneously considered, they provide the best results for mass and radius values, including important astrophysical objects such as the LMXB NGC 6397 and the extremely massive pulsar millisecond MSP J0740 + 6620. Although the expected inclusion of hyperons in the nuclear model reproduces stellar masses smaller than those produced by standard nucleonic matter, we shown that the hyperon puzzle problem can be solved by including anisotropic effects on compact stars in the context of the Rastall-Rainbow gravity.

Motivated by the recent gravitational wave detection by the LIGO-VIRGO observatories, we study the Love number and dimensionless tidal polarizability of highly magnetized stars. We also investigate the fundamental quasi-normal mode of neutron stars subject to high magnetic fields. To perform our calculations we use the chaotic field approximation and consider both nucleonic and hyperonic stars. As far as the fundamental mode is concerned, we conclude that the role played by the constitution of the stars is far more relevant than the intensity of the magnetic field and if massive stars are considered, the ones constituted by nucleons only present frequencies somewhat lower than the ones with hyperonic cores, a feature that can be used to point out the real internal structure of neutron stars. Moreover, our studies clearly indicate that strong magnetic fields play a crucial role in the deformability of low mass neutron stars, with possible consequences on the interpretation of the detected gravitational waves signatures., Comment: 24 pages, 4 figures, 6 tables

In the present work we used five different versions of the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model to compute astrophysical quantities related to the GW170817 event and to neutron star cooling process. Two of the models are based on the original bag potential structure and three versions consider a harmonic oscillator potential to confine the quarks. The bag-like models also incorporate the pasta phase used to describe the inner crust of neutron stars. We show that the pasta phase always play a minor or negligible role in all studies. Moreover, while no clear correlation between the models that satisfy the GW170817 constraints and the slope of the symmetry energy is found, a clear correlation is observed between the slope and the fact that the cooling is fast or slow, i.e., fast (slow) cooling is related to higher (lower) values of the slope. We did not find one unique model that can describe, at the same time, GW170817 constraints and give a perfect description of the possible cooling processes., Comment: 15 pages, 19 figures

We have obtained the Love number and corresponding tidal deformabilites ($\Lambda$) associated with the relativistic mean-field parametrizations shown to be consistent (CRMF) with the nuclear matter, pure neutron matter, symmetry energy and its derivatives [Dutra, et al., Phys. Rev. C 90, 055203 (2014)]. Our results show that CRMF models present very good agreement with the recent data from binary neutron star merger event GW170817. They also confirm the strong correlation between $\Lambda_{1.4}$ and the radius of canonical stars ($R_{1.4}$). When a recently GW170817 constraint on $\Lambda_{1.4}$ and the corresponding radius $R_{1.4}$ is used, the majority of the models tested are shown to satisfy it., Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures and 1 table. We study radial oscillations of hybrid non-rotating neutron stars composed by a quark matter core and hadronic external layers. At first, we physically deduce the junction conditions that should be imposed between two any phases in these systems when perturbations take place. Then we compute the oscillation spectrum focusing on the effects of slow and rapid phase transitions at the quark-hadron interface. We use a generic MIT bag model for quark matter and a relativistic mean field theory for hadronic matter. In the case of rapid transitions at the interface we find a general relativistic version of the reaction mode which has similar properties as its classical counterpart. We also show that the usual static stability condition $\partial M/\partial \rho_c\geq 0$, where $\rho_c$ is the central density of a star whose total mass is $M$, remains always true for rapid transitions but breaks down in general for slow transitions. In fact, for slow transitions we find that the frequency of the fundamental mode can be a real number (indicating stability) even for some branches of stellar models that verify $\partial M/\partial \rho_c \leq 0$. Thus, when secular instabilities are suppressed, as expected below some critical stellar rotation rate, it would be possible the existence of twin or even triplet stars with the same gravitational mass but different radii, with one of the counterparts having $\partial M/\partial \rho_c \leq 0$. The statistical analysis of the structure of bipartite ecological networks has increased in importance in recent years. Yet, both algorithms and software packages for the analysis of network structure focus on properties of unipartite networks. In response, we describe BiMAT, an object-oriented MATLAB package for the study of the structure of bipartite ecological networks. BiMAT can analyze the structure of networks, including features such as modularity and nestedness, using a selection of widely-adopted algorithms. BiMAT also includes a variety of null models for evaluating the statistical significance of network properties. BiMAT is capable of performing multi-scale analysis of structure - a potential (and under-examined) feature of many biological networks. Finally, BiMAT relies on the graphics capabilities of MATLAB to enable the visualization of the statistical structure of bipartite networks in either matrix or graph layout representations.
