Abstract

This paper investigates the performance of 3D-printed dielectric reflectarray antennas (RAs) with wideband behavior and beam-steering capabilities. The designed unit cell consists of a single-layer dielectric element perforated with a square hole, whose side is used to control the local variation of the reflection coefficient. The numerical analysis of the unit cell and of first $52\times52$ reflectarray working in Ka-band, whose scanning capabilities are tested just moving the feed along an arc, confirms that the unit cell has a stable behavior with respect to both the frequency and the direction of arrival of the incident field. In view of these promising capabilities, the proposed unit cell is used to design a bifocal reflectarray with the same size and working in the same frequency band of the first one. Its numerical characterization and the measurements of a prototype prove that the RA is able to provide less than 0.8 dB of gain losses over a scanning range of ±40∘ in the vertical plane, while the bandwidth varies between 13.5% and 28%, depending on the pointing direction. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach and highlight the potential of 3D-printing technology for producing high performance, cost-effective RAs with wideband behavior and excellent beam-steering features. Abstract

A two-step hot embossing process was used to transfer graphene and to fabricate Gr/Si Schottky photodiodes. As a direct graphene transfer technique through a hot embossing system, chemical vapor deposition Gr monolayer was transferred from copper foil to cyclic olefin copolymer foil without a poly(methylmethacrylate) sacrificial layer. Then, hot embossing was employed once again to bond graphene with the prepared Si substrate to form Schottky contact. Electrical and photoelectrical characterizations have been performed to evaluate the Schottky photodiode. The photocurrent increases linearly with light intensity under 633 nm illumination. With an appropriate bias voltage, the maximum responsivity reaches 0.73 A/W. Extracted from I–V characteristics by Cheung's function, the Schottky barrier height and ideality factor are 1.01 eV and 2.66, respectively. The experimental result shows the feasibility and effectiveness of this hot embossing fabrication process, which demonstrates the opportunity for large scale production and provides a new approach for graphene optoelectronics. Abstract

Transglutaminase 2 (TG2) is a ubiquitously expressed member of the transglutaminase family with Ca2+-dependent protein crosslinking activity. Its subcellular localization is crucial in determining its function, and indeed, TG2 is found in the extracellular matrix, mitochondria, recycling endosomes, plasma membrane, cytosol, and nucleus because it is associated with cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. It is involved in several pathologies, such as celiac disease, cardiovascular, hepatic, renal, and fibrosis diseases, carrying out opposite functions of up and down regulation in the progression of the same pathology. Therefore, this fine regulation requires a very sensitive and specific method of identification of TG2, which is to be detected in very small quantities in a deregulated condition. Here, we demonstrate the possibility of detecting TG2 down to attomolar concentration by using organic electrochemical transistors driven by gold electrodes functionalized with anti-TG2 antibodies. In particular, a direct correlation between the TG2 concentration and the transistor transconductance values, as extracted from typical transfer curves, was found. Overall, our findings highlight the potentialities of this new biosensing approach for the detection of TG2 in the context of pathological diseases, offering a rapid and cost-effective alternative to traditional methods.
