1. Country-report pattern corrections of new cases allow accurate 2-week predictions of COVID-19 evolution with the Gompertz model

Abstract

Abstract Accurate short-term predictions of COVID-19 cases with empirical models allow Health Officials to prepare for hospital contingencies in a two–three week window given the delay between case reporting and the admission of patients in a hospital. We investigate the ability of Gompertz-type empiric models to provide accurate prediction up to two and three weeks to give a large window of preparation in case of a surge in virus transmission. We investigate the stability of the prediction and its accuracy using bi-weekly predictions during the last trimester of 2020 and 2021. Using data from 2020, we show that understanding and correcting for the daily reporting structure of cases in the different countries is key to accomplish accurate predictions. Furthermore, we found that filtering out predictions that are highly unstable to changes in the parameters of the model, which are roughly 20%, reduces strongly the number of predictions that are way-off. The method is then tested for robustness with data from 2021. We found that, for this data, only 1–2% of the one-week predictions were off by more than 50%. This increased to 3% for two-week predictions, and only for three-week predictions it reached 10%.

6. Socioeconomic inequalities in COVID-19 infection and vaccine uptake among children and adolescents in Catalonia, Spain: a population-based cohort study

Abstract

IntroductionThis study aims to investigate the relationship between deprivation, as measured by a socioeconomic deprivation index (SDI) score for census tract urban areas, and COVID-19 infections and vaccine uptake among children and adolescents before and after the vaccination rollout in Catalonia, Spain.MethodsWe conducted a population-based cohort study using primary care records. Individuals were followed 3 months before the start of the vaccination campaign in Spain and 3 months after. Children (5–11 years) and adolescents (12–15 years) with at least 1 year of prior history observation available and without missing deprivation data. For each outcome, we estimated cumulative incidence and crude Cox proportional-hazard models by SDI quintiles, and hazard ratios (HRs) of COVID-19 infection and vaccine uptake relative to the least deprived quintile, Q1.ResultsBefore COVID-19 vaccination rollout, 290,625 children and 179,685 adolescents were analyzed. Increased HR of deprivation was associated with a higher risk of COVID-19 infection in both children [Q5: 1.55 (95% CI, 1.47–1.63)] and adolescents [Q5: 1.36 (95% CI, 1.29–1.43)]. After the rollout, this pattern changed among children, with lower risk of infection in more deprived areas [Q5: 0.62 (95% CI, 0.61–0.64)]. Vaccine uptake was higher among adolescents than children, but in both age groups, non-vaccination was more common among those living in more deprived areas (39.3% and 74.6% in Q1 vs. 26.5% and 66.9% in Q5 among children and adolescents, respectively).ConclusionsChildren and adolescents living in deprived areas were at higher risk of COVID-19 non-vaccination. Socioeconomic disparities in COVID-19 infection were also evident before vaccine rollout, with a higher infection risk in deprived areas across age groups. Our findings suggest that changes in the association between deprivation and infections among children after the vaccine rollout were likely due to testing disparities.

17. Lack of extracellular matrix switches TGF-β induced apoptosis of endometrial cells to epithelial to mesenchymal transition

Abstract

Abstract The extracellular matrix and the correct establishment of epithelial cell polarity plays a critical role in epithelial cell homeostasis and cell polarity. In addition, loss of tissue structure is a hallmark of carcinogenesis. In this study, we have addressed the role of extracellular matrix in the cellular responses to TGF-β. It is well known that TGF-β is a double-edged sword: it acts as a tumor suppressor in normal epithelial cells, but conversely has tumor-promoting effects in tumoral cells. However, the factors that determine cellular outcome in response to TGF-β remain controversial. Here, we have demonstrated that the lack of extracellular matrix and consequent loss of cell polarity inhibits TGF-β-induced apoptosis, observed when endometrial epithelial cells are polarized in presence of extracellular matrix. Rather, in absence of extracellular matrix, TGF-β-treated endometrial epithelial cells display features of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. We have also investigated the molecular mechanism of such a switch in cellular response. On the one hand, we found that the lack of Matrigel results in increased AKT signaling which is sufficient to inhibit TGF-β-induced apoptosis. On the other hand, we demonstrate that TGF-β-induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition requires ERK and SMAD2/3 activation. In summary, we demonstrate that loss of cell polarity changes the pro-apoptotic function of TGF-β to tumor-associated phenotype such as epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. These results may be important for understanding the dual role of TGF-β in normal versus tumoral cells.

Abstract

During the pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), mitigation policies for children have been a topic of considerable uncertainty and debate. Although some children have co-morbidities which increase their risk for severe coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and complications such as multisystem inflammatory syndrome and long COVID, most children only get mild COVID-19. On the other hand, consistent evidence shows that mass mitigation measures had enormous adverse impacts on children. A central question can thus be posed: What amount of mitigation should children bear, in response to a disease that is disproportionally affecting older people? In this review, we analyze the distinct child versus adult epidemiology, policies, mitigation trade-offs and outcomes in children in Western Europe. The highly heterogenous European policies applied to children compared to adults did not lead to significant measurable differences in outcomes. Remarkably, the relative epidemiological importance of transmission from school-age children to other age groups remains uncertain, with current evidence suggesting that schools often follow, rather than lead, community transmission. Important learning points for future pandemics are summarized.

Abstract

Acute respiratory viral infections pose a significant healthcare burden on the pediatric population globally, but data on the dissemination pattern in the community due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic are scarce. We conducted a 2-year prospective multicenter study in Catalonia (Spain) that examined the prevalence and coinfection dynamics of respiratory viruses among 1276 pediatric patients from different age groups attending primary care. Coinfection analysis demonstrated complex patterns and revealed a coinfection rate of 23.8% for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, often in association with rhinovirus or influenza A. Abstract

PurposeTo analyse the association between the mortality during the summer 2022 and either high temperatures or the COVID-19 wave with data from the Catalan Health Care System (7.8 million people).MethodsWe performed a retrospective study using publicly available data of meteorological variables, influenza-like illness (ILI) cases (including COVID-19) and deaths. The study comprises the summer months of the years 2021 and 2022. To compare the curves of mortality, ILI and temperature we calculated the z-score of each series. We assessed the observed lag between curves using the cross-correlation function. Finally, we calculated the correlation between the z-scores using the Pearson correlation coefficient (R2).ResultsDuring the study period, 33,967 deaths were reported in Catalonia (16,416 in the summer of 2021 and 17,551 in the summer of 2022). In 2022, the observed lag and the correlation between the z-scores of temperature and all-cause deaths was 3 days and R2 = 0.86, while between ILI and all-cause deaths was 22 days and R2 = 0.21. This high correlation between temperature and deaths increased up to 0.91 when we excluded those deaths reported as COVID-19 deaths, while the correlation between ILI and non-COVID-19 deaths decreased to −0.19. No correlation was observed between non-COVID deaths and temperature or ILI cases in 2021.ConclusionOur study suggests that the main cause of the increase in deaths during summer 2022 in Catalonia was the high temperatures and its duration. The contribution of the COVID-19 seems to be limited.

Abstract

Measuring soil quality and the use of indicators for its evaluation is a worldwide challenge. In Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park (northeastern Spain), different parameters related to oribatid mites as indicators of soil quality were evaluated under different land uses: forest, pasture, and a biennial double-crop rotation of forage crops. In forage crops, previous fertilization management (one based on mineral fertilizers, three on cattle manure, and one using both types) was also evaluated. Three samplings (April, June, and September) were performed over one season. Fifty-four oribatid species belonging to 28 families were identified. Abundance was the lowest in June for all land uses (average of 1184 individuals m−2). In the study period, abundance, diversity (Shannon index, H'), and dominance (Berger–Parker index, d) varied with different land uses, with the highest values of abundance and H' in forests (9287 individuals m−2 and 2.19, respectively) and the lowest dominance in forests (d = 0.29) without differences between the other uses. Additionally, in the studied parameters, no differences were associated with previous fertilization management in forage crops. Hypochthoniella minutissima, Xenillus (X.) tegeocranus characterized the forest system, Epilohmannia cylindrica minima the forage crops, and Tectocepheus sarekensis the pasture. In pasture, the dominance of the parthenogenetic species Tectocepheus sarekensis raises concerns about potential management constraints. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Aquest treball de final d’estudis descriu com dissenyar un prototip de levitador magnètic de baix cost econòmic. La levitació magnètica, també anomenada MagLev, és la interacció entre camps magnètics que generen forces d’atracció o de repulsió per eliminar la força del pes d’un objecte. El levitador consisteix en un actuador, en aquest cas un solenoide, que produeix una força electromagnètica que actua sobre un objecte. L’objecte conté metall o un imant que el fan levitar degut a l’efecte d’aquesta força. Per aconseguir la levitació constant és necessari un control robust de l’electromagnetisme de l’actuador. Addicionalment per mostrar el desenvolupament del disseny, aquest document conté el muntatge del circuit alimentador i controlador del solenoide, la programació del microcontrolador i l’estudi del control robust. El desenvolupament de la part pràctica del treball s’han portat a terme en un laboratori de recerca universitària situat a la Escola Superior d’Enginyeries Industrial, Aeroespacial i Audiovisual de Terrassa. Els experiments de prova i error fets en temps real mostren els resultats obtinguts en el projecte. Aquests resultats compleixen parcialment l’objectiu del treball ja que el levitador magnètic no és capaç, encara que s’hi observa intenció, de fer levitar un imant. Això és degut, principalment, a falta de temps, complexitat del projecte i errors humans. Les claus per a un pròxim estudi en el qual s’aconsegueixi avançar i/o aconseguir l’objectiu estàn marcades en les conclusions d’aquesta memòria. Abstract

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes most of the cases of bronchiolitis and thousands of deaths annually, particularly in infants less than 6 months old. In Catalonia (Spain), infants born between April 2023 and March 2024 aged 0–6 months during their frst RSV season have been candidates to receive nirsevimab, the novel monoclonal antibody against RSV, since October 2023. We aimed to analyse the dynamics of all-causes bronchiolitis diagnoses and RSV community infections in the current season and compare them to pre-nirsevimab epidemics. We collected epidemiological data from the Information System for Surveillance of Infections in Catalonia (SIVIC) on daily all-causes bronchiolitis clinical diagnoses and RSV-confrmed cases provided by rapid antigen tests in primary care practices. We calculated the rate ratio (RR) for the incidence of all-causes bronchiolitis for children aged 0-11 m-old with respect to 12-35 m-old between September 2014 and January 2024. We analysed the RR of the incidence of RSV-confrmed infection for 0-11 m-old and 12-35 m-old with respect to the>35 m-old, from January 2021 to January 2024. We then computed the relative diference of the RR, designated as percentage of reduction of risk, between season 2023/2024 and former epidemics. With a global coverage recorded rate for nirsevimab of 82.2% in January 2024, the age-specifc 0-11 m-old RR (95% CI) of RSV infection incidence for>35 m-old was 1.7 (1.5–2.0) in season 2023/2024. The RR (95% CI) had been 7.4 (5.6–9.9), 8.8 (6.9–11.3), and 7.1 (5.7–8.9) in 2020/2021, 2021/2022, and 2022/2023, respectively. Regarding the incidence of all-causes bronchiolitis for the 0-11 m-old group compared to the 12-35 m-old, the pre-pandemic (2014/2015–2019/2020) and 2022/2023 RR (95% CI) were 9.4 (9.2–9.6) and 6.0 (5.7–6.2), respectively, signifcantly higher than the RR of 3.6 (3.4–3.8) for the most recent season, 2023/2024. Abstract

Background In Catalonia, infants under 6¿months old were eligible to receive nirsevimab, a novel monoclonal antibody against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). We aimed to analyse nirsevimab’s effectiveness across primary and hospital care outcomes. Methods Retrospective cohort study from 1 October 2023 to 31 January 2024, including all infants born between April and September 2023. We established two cohorts based on nirsevimab administration (immunised and non-immunised). We followed individuals until the earliest moment of an outcome—RSV infection, primary care attended bronchiolitis and pneumonia, hospital emergency visits due to bronchiolitis, hospital admission or intensive care unit (ICU) admission due to RSV bronchiolitis—death or the end of the study. We used the Kaplan-Meier estimator and fitted Cox regression models using a calendar time scale to estimate HRs and their 95% CIs. Results Among 26¿525 infants, a dose of nirsevimab led to an adjusted HR for hospital admission due to RSV bronchiolitis of 0.124 (95% CI: 0.086 to 0.179) and an adjusted HR for ICU admission of 0.099 (95% CI: 0.041 to 0.237). Additionally, the adjusted HRs observed for emergency visits were 0.446 (95% CI: 0.385 to 0.516) and 0.393 (95% CI: 0.203 to 0.758) for viral pneumonia, 0.519 (95% CI: 0.467 to 0.576) for bronchiolitis attended in primary care and 0.311 (95% CI: 0.200 to 0.483) for RSV infection. Conclusion We demonstrated nirsevimab’s effectiveness with reductions of 87.6% and 90.1% in hospital and ICU admissions, respectively. Abstract

Introduction: Bronchiolitis, mostly caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and influenza among other respiratory infections, lead to seasonal saturation at healthcare centers in temperate areas. There is no gold standard to characterize the stages of epidemics, nor the risk of respiratory infections growing. We aimed to define a set of indicators to assess the risk level of respiratory viral epidemics, based on both incidence and their short-term dynamics, and considering epidemical thresholds. Methods: We used publicly available data on daily cases of influenza for the whole population and bronchiolitis in children <2¿years from the Information System for Infection Surveillance in Catalonia (SIVIC). We included a Moving Epidemic Method (MEM) variation to define epidemic threshold and levels. We pre-processed the data with two different nowcasting approaches and performed a 7-day moving average. Weekly incidences (cases per 105 population) were computed and the 5-day growth rate was defined to create the effective potential growth (EPG) indicator. We performed a correlation analysis to define the forecasting ability of this index. Results: Our adaptation of the MEM method allowed us to define epidemic weekly incidence levels and epidemic thresholds for bronchiolitis and influenza. EPG was able to anticipate daily 7-day cumulative incidence by 4–5 (bronchiolitis) or 6–7 (influenza) days. Discussion: We developed a semi-empirical risk panel incorporating the EPG index, which effectively anticipates surpassing epidemic thresholds for bronchiolitis and influenza. The European Commission (hereafter EC) and international countries are closely involved in the activities of the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development). Together, they focus their efforts on fostering economic development, through providing R&D Tax Incentives to let companies optimise their Corporation Tax and have therefore more resources to keep investing in R&D and technological innovation. The project entails the establishment of a new enterprise, Novatech Consulting Group, S.R.L., dedicated to providing consultancy services for R&D Tax Credits across different EU and international target countries. The aim of Novatech consists of delivering unparalleled expertise in R&D Tax Credit consulting services, acknowledging their complexity and variability, and reaching the position as a trusted partner for enterprises seeking to claim the incentive to optimise the Corporation Tax. Thus, the present thesis aims to study the creation of a specialised consultancy uniquely focused on optimising tax benefits for businesses engaged in R&D and technological innovation activities. The methodology involves a comprehensive analysis of tax regulations, country-specific incentives, factors influencing R&D tax credits, and the various markets. The project also includes the branding, target audience and segmentation, decision-making matrixes to select target countries, corporation tax analysis, strategic analysis, marketing mix, and financial and legal plans. Abstract

This thesis delves into the intricate dynamics of culture and other determinants on consumer attitudes towards sustainable consumption, a pivotal element in realizing the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, specifically addressing Goal 12, which focuses on sustainable consumption and production patterns. By employing a systematic review methodology, the study critically analyzed 95 quantitative research articles published between 2019 and 2023. The aim was to dissect and understand the myriad of factors influencing sustainable consumption behavior (SCB) across various cultural landscapes globally. The findings illuminate the profound impact of cultural variations on SCB. Particularly in cross-continental studies, it was evident that cultural dimensions such as collectivism, longterm orientation, and locus of control exhibited divergent influences in different countries, notably between Eastern and Western societies. However, certain factors, grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior, showed a universal impact on sustainable consumption across diverse cultures. By systematically synthesizing this information, the thesis identified 36 sustainable consumption factors and further organized them into 12 categories from a stakeholder perspective. This thesis endeavors to present a comprehensive overview of the global state of solid propellant technology. Its genesis lies in the imperative to furnish contextual backing for a patent conceived, titled " Photo-polymerization for additive manufacturing of composite solid propellants", aimed at subsequent coherent market analysis. Solid propellants represent pivotal constituents utilized as propulsion fuel in rockets, missiles, and analogous systems. Comprised of solid chemical compounds—such as polymers, aluminum compounds, or graphite dioxide—combined with oxidizers and adjunctive additives, these materials furnish a steadfast energy source and exhibit prolonged stability, rendering them versatile for multifarious applications encompassing rocketry, launcher mechanisms, fire extinguishing agents, and airbag expansion. This work assumes the form of a Patent Landscape Report (PLR), wherein meticulous data processing and manipulation from a discerningly curated Patent Database will distill pertinent information and delineate trends germane to solid propellant technology. Patents are recognized as potent repositories of information, and PLRs are purposefully devised to distill intrinsic insights from these documents, thereby evaluating the extant technological progress within a sector and furnishing strategic support to companies and institutions within the field. Abstract

In the modern business environment with rapid technological changes, the adoption of agile methodologies within large organizations has increased dramatically. This thesis aims to shed light on the scaling of agile methods, focusing on two widely adopted scaling frameworks: SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) and LeSS (Large Scale Scrum). The primary objective is to gain insights into the methods, challenges, and success factors associated with large-scale agile transformations from 2017 to 2023. The research conducts a systematic literature review which analyzes 15 case studies published between 2017 and 2023. The study provides key findings relating to agile methods, challenges, and success factors, providing a comprehensive understanding of the current landscape of large-scale agile transformations. The research revealed four agile methods are frequently adopted: Scrum, Lean, Kanban, and Extreme Programming (XP). Scrum showed up to be the most used method, followed by Lean and Kanban. Combining agile methods is also common, such as integrating Scrum, XP, and Lean or adopting hybrid methods like Scrumban. Nine themes of challenges were uncovered, with communication and coordination, culture and mindset, and management and strategy as the main challenges. All challenges were further organized into subthemes, offering detailed insights into issues such as information gaps, lack of vision, and coordination struggles among teams. The thesis also identified ten themes of success factors, addressing most of the challenge themes. Communication and coordination, management and strategy, and requirements engineering stood out as primary contributors to successful large-scale agile transformations. 47. Effects of Nirsevimab Introduction on Bronchiolitis and Respiratory Syncytial Virus in Catalonia

Abstract

The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes 70% of bronchiolitis cases and thousands of annual deaths, particularly in the paediatric population under six months, placing a significant burden on the public health system. In October 2023, the monoclonal antibody nirsevimab was implemented for the first time in Catalonia in infants to combat the most severe clinical episodes caused by this virus. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of the first immunisation campaign with nirsevimab on the epidemiology and clinical outcomes of RSV. To this end, pre-pandemic patterns by age group have been characterized and compared with the current season, in addition to analysing the clinical outcomes of a prospective cohort of infants, observing differences between those who received nirsevimab and those who did not. The methodology followed in this study is divided into two major analyses: an epidemiological study and a patient-level study. The epidemiological analysis involves exploring the dynamics of bronchiolitis as an indirect measure of RSV and of the virus itself, conducting comparative analyses using an average pre-pandemic season and differentiating between various age groups. The patient-level analysis consists of a prospective study of clinical variables comparing a cohort that received nirsevimab with another cohort that did not. The results indicate that the pre-pandemic incidence of bronchiolitis followed a very robust pattern each season, which was significantly affected by the pandemic. It has been observed that the introduction of nirsevimab has reduced the incidence of RSV in infants under one year. Additionally, the prospective study determined that infants receiving nirsevimab are less likely to test positive for RSV and develop lower respiratory tract infections compared to those who were not immunised. Los resultados obtenidos indican que la incidencia de bronquiolitis prepandémica seguía un patrón muy robusto cada temporada, el cual se vio afectado significativamente por la pandemia. Abstract

El meu treball se centra en l’evolució de l’arquitectura comercial, el seu procés de disseny i en l’aparició dels espais efímers. Un dels referents del disseny és Dieter Rams; estudiant els seus processos i característiques, he pogut veure i entendre que aquests, són també aplicables a l’arquitectura. He analitzat exemples d’arquitectura efímera i la seva relació amb les empreses i he entrevistat a un referent del sector, Stefano Colli, arquitecte professional del disseny efímer. Finalment, he analitzat un cas d’estudi: la botiga Vinçon, un gran referent per a la ciutat de Barcelona. S’analitza l’evolució de l’empresa, els espais de la botiga i com van saber mantenir una identitat de marca. Tot i que va desaparèixer com espai el 2015, perdura encara en la memòria.

Abstract

In the current global context, the aviation sector stands out as one of the most economically influential industries worldwide, offering a multitude of opportunities. Since its inception, aviation has experienced continuous growth until the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this growth has come with disadvantages, particularly regarding its environmental impact. This project mainly focuses on exploring a possible solution to mitigate the sector's impact on the environment and the transition to aviation with lower emissions. The central focus of this study lies in the evaluation and quantification of possible measures to reduce emissions in the Spanish aeronautical industry. This study examines the sector's needs by taking the historical evolution of national energy into consideration. It then suggests a series of measures to achieve the objectives proposed at the European level, which have already been set as a national goal. The evaluated measures are divided into four blocks. The first and most impactful is the transition from the current fuel to SAF. The second block considers the offsetting of emissions through various methods such as carbon capture. Lastly, as the final blocks, it considers the emergence of new technologies that are planned to be implemented in the next decade and the possibilities for optimizing existing structures and operations. In order to predict future emissions and compare them with current levels, a comprehensive analysis and calculation of total emissions was conducted to estimate the future emissions. The estimation of future emissions was calculated by combining two factors: the implementation of certain measures and the life cycle analysis of the proposed new fuels, such as SAF. 50. Anàlisi de la dinàmica epidemiològica de la grip als països europeus

Abstract

The flu is an infectious and contagious disease that affects the respiratory system, caused by influenza viruses. In our environment, the flu behaves like a seasonal epidemic. In the northern hemisphere there is an annual flu season between the autumn and winter months. We want to know what their behavior is in other countries, and observe what the conditions are for their start in each country. The aim of this work is to understand the dynamics of the flu in the different countries that make up the European Union together with Norway, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, to see if there is a relationship between the flu epidemic and the climatology of the country, to later be able to use more accurate mathematical models. Likewise, the interaction of climate elements (such as temperature) and climate factors (such as latitude) with the transmission and seasonality of the disease caused by the influenza virus is studied, since its effects on biological systems, in this case specifically in people, are known. Finally, from the results obtained, we can say that the incidence of the flu epidemic and the temperature of each country conform to a decreasing exponential function. Although it would be necessary to be able to analyze it in other geographical regions. But, there is no evidence of a relationship between the onset of influenza epidemics and temperature, and neither for the case of latitude., La grip és una malaltia infecciosa i contagiosa, que afecta l'aparell respiratori, causada pels virus de la influença. En el nostre entorn la grip es comporta com una epidèmia estacional. A l'hemisferi nord anualment hi ha temporada de grip entre els mesos de tardor i hivern. Volem conèixer quin és el seu comportament en altres països, i observar quines són les condicions pel seu inici en cada país. L'objectiu d'aquest treball és entendre les dinàmiques de la grip en els diferents països que formen la Unió Europea juntament amb Noruega, Regne Unit i Suïssa, per veure si hi ha relació entre l'epidèmia de grip i la climatologia del país, per després poder utilitzar models matemàtics més acurats. Així mateix, s'estudia la interacció d'elements del clima (com la temperatura) i factors del clima (com la latitud) amb la transmissió i l'estacionalitat de la malaltia causada pel virus de la grip, ja que els seus efectes sobre els sistemes biològics, en aquest cas concretament en les persones, són coneguts. Finalment, dels resultats obtinguts, podem dir que la incidència de l'epidèmia de grip i la temperatura de cada país, s'ajusten a una funció exponencial decreixent. Tot i que caldria poder-ho analitzar en altres regions geogràfiques. Però, no hi ha una evidència de relació entre l'inici de les epidèmies de grip i la temperatura, i tampoc per al cas de la latitud., La gripe es una enfermedad infecciosa y contagiosa, que afecta el aparato respiratorio, causada por los virus de la influenza. En nuestro entorno la gripe se comporta como una epidemia estacional. En el hemisferio norte anualmente hay temporada de gripe entre los meses de otoño e invierno. Queremos conocer cuál es su comportamiento en otros países, y observar cuáles son las condiciones para su inicio en cada país. El objetivo de este trabajo es entender las dinámicas de la gripe en los diferentes países que forman la Unión Europea junto con Noruega, Reino Unido y Suiza, para ver si hay relación entre la epidemia de gripe y la climatología del país, para después poder utilizar modelos matemáticos más precisos. Así mismo, se estudia la interacción de elementos del clima (como la temperatura) y factores del clima (como la latitud) con la transmisión y la estacionalidad de la enfermedad causada por el virus de la gripe, puesto que sus efectos sobre los sistemas biológicos, en este caso concretamente en las personas, son conocidos. Finalmente, de los resultados obtenidos, podemos decir que la incidencia de la epidemia de gripe y la temperatura de cada país, se ajustan a una función exponencial decreciente. A pesar de que habría que poderlo analizar en otras regiones geográficas. Pero, no hay una evidencia de relación entre el inicio de las epidemias de gripe y la temperatura, y tampoco para el caso de la latitud.
