The article presents a study which evaluates the PIMA point-of-care (POC) CD4 testing in HIV voluntary testing and counseling (VCT) clinics in Harare, Zimbabwe. It states that the paired blood samples were examined using POC and traditional laboratory CD4 system. It says that PIMA POC CD4 accuracy was compared with Becton Dickinson (BD) FACSCalibur accuracy. Results show no significant difference between the systems' accuracies which suggest that POC CD4 testing can be conducted in VCT setting.
