Studies plant height in maize, an important agronomic and model trait that is suitable for studying developmental biology. Use of data from locations in Wuhan and Xiangfan and a molecular linkage map covering 10 chromosomes; Analysis of QTLs affecting plant height at five different developmental stages by the combination of composite interval mapping and the conditional analysis method; Number of QTLs located at different regions of five chromosomes; Finding that there were different QTL effect values on plant height at various developmental stages; Indication that three QTLs were detected at all five stages; Suggestion that QTL expression varied at different stages; Detection of seven conditional QTLs for plant height; Indication that QTLs for plant height are expressed in different time-space; Implication for marker assistant selection when conducted for quantitative traits.
