Purpose: The public's trust in the authorities has a great impact on people's perception and cognition on development of different types of urban transport infrastructure projects (UTIPs). Given the importance of public acceptance for the efficient construction and operation of UTIPs, this study aims at investigating the personal and environmental factors that influence public acceptance behavior from the perspective of stakeholder management. Design/methodology/approach: Based on social cognitive theory (SCT), this study explores the multiple dimensions of social trust on public acceptance in the development of UTIPs by a comparative case study. Two types of UTIPs, a metro railway and a bridge in the Wuhan City, China, were selected as cases, with a questionnaire distributed among the public to collect their sense of trust towards the development of these projects. The data were analyzed through structural equation modeling (SEM). Findings: This study reveals that social trust positively influences public acceptance, directly or indirectly through perceived benefit and -risks and self-efficacy. However, the emphasis on social trust about competence and integrity of the authorities varies with the types of projects. Self-efficacy worked as the "mirror of trust" reflecting people's attitude towards social trust in the authorities on their ability and morality. Originality/value: The value of the paper lies in discussing social trust from multiple dimensions in the field of urban infrastructures, which provides new insights into specific mechanisms for shaping public acceptance in project management towards the development of UTIPs. Objectives: Asymptomatic and symptomatic patients may transmit severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2), but their clinical features and immune responses remain largely unclear. We aimed to characterise the clinical features and immune responses of asymptomatic and symptomatic patients infected with SARS‐CoV‐2. Methods: We collected clinical, laboratory and epidemiological records of patients hospitalised in a coronavirus field hospital in Wuhan. We performed qualitative detection of anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 immunoglobulin M (IgM) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) using archived blood samples. Results: Of 214 patients with SARS‐CoV‐2, 26 (12%) were asymptomatic at hospital admission and during hospitalisation. Most asymptomatic patients were ≤ 60 years (96%) and females (65%) and had few comorbidities (< 16%). Serum levels of white and red blood cells were higher in asymptomatic than in symptomatic patients (P‐values < 0.05). During hospitalisation, IgG seroconversion was commonly observed in both asymptomatic and symptomatic patients (85% versus 94%, P‐value = 0.07); in contrast, IgM seroconversion was less common in asymptomatic than in symptomatic patients (31% versus 74%, P‐value < 0.001). The median time from the first virus‐positive screening to IgG or IgM seroconversion was significantly shorter in asymptomatic than in symptomatic patients (median: 7 versus 14 days, P‐value < 0.01). Furthermore, IgG/IgM seroconversion rates increased concomitantly with the clearance of SARS‐CoV‐2 in both asymptomatic and symptomatic patients. At the time of virus clearance, IgG/IgM titres and plasma neutralisation capacity were significantly lower in recovered asymptomatic than in recovered symptomatic patients (P‐values < 0.01). Conclusion: Asymptomatic and symptomatic patients exhibited different kinetics of IgG/IgM responses to SARS‐CoV‐2. Under the background of global warming, it has been confirmed that heat exposure has a huge impact on human health. The current study aimed to evaluate the effects of daily mean ambient temperature on hospital admissions for obstructive nephropathy (ON) at the population level. A total of 19,494 hospitalization cases for ON in Wuhan, China from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018 were extracted from a nationwide inpatient database in tertiary hospitals according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD)− 10 codes. Daily ambient meteorological and pollution data during the same period were also collected. A quasi-Poisson Generalized Linear Model (GLM) combined with a distributed lag non-linear model (DLNM) was applied to analyze the lag-exposure-response relationship between daily mean temperature and daily hospital admissions for ON. Results showed that there were significantly positive associations between the daily mean temperature and ON hospital admissions. Relative to the minimum-risk temperature (−3.4 ℃), the risk of hospital admissions for ON at moderate hot temperature (25 ℃, 75th percentile) occurred from lag day 4 and stayed to lag day 12 (cumulative relative risk [RR] was 1.846, 95 % confidence interval [CI]: 1.135–3.005, over lag 0–12 days). Moreover, the risk of extreme hot temperature (32 ℃, 99th percentile) appeared immediately and lasted for 8 days (RR = 2.019, 95 % CI: 1.308–3.118, over lag 0–8 days). Subgroup analyses indicated that the middle-aged and elderly (≥45 years) patients might be more susceptible to the negative effects of high temperature, especially at moderate hot conditions. Our findings suggest that temperature may have a significant impact on the acute progression and onset of ON. Conflicts caused by urban infrastructure projects pose significant threats to city sustainability, particularly in developing countries. Making citizens' voices heard in EIA decision-making on projects is of value in mitigating interest conflicts between citizens and authorities. However, public participation is hampered by excessive government intervention and low citizens' willingness. The reasons underlying citizens' low willingness to participate are unclear and often overlooked in existing studies. This study conducted a random survey in Wuhan, China, to investigate how different socio-psychological factors affect citizens' willingness to participate in EIA decision-making. The theoretical basis of the research was the extended theory of planned behavior. The findings reveal that (1) social influence, perceived benefits, and perceived enablers are three significant variables directly affecting willingness to participate, while personal characteristics, information acquisition, and consultation channels indirectly influence willingness to participate. (2) The negative effects of social influence mediate the positive impact of information acquisition and consultation channels on perceived benefits and perceived enablers, finally contributing to a low willingness to participate. This study provides valuable inputs for the government on how best to promote citizens' willingness to participate in EIA decision-making and proposes useful suggestions for future participatory design and planning. Mega construction projects (MCPs) play an indispensable role in the process of urbanization and urban sustainable development, while their planning often faces challenges due to diverse public opinion. Therefore, strategies to improve public acceptance of MCP's are essential during planning and development stages of such projects. Drawing on the Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), this research investigated the determinants of public acceptance of MCPs. A comparative case study was conducted on two MCPs (Guanshan substation and Stage II of Metro Line 8) in Wuhan city, China, with 450 and 640 responses, respectively to a face-to-face questionnaire survey. Adopting Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for hypothesis testing, the results showed differences between the acceptance levels of these two MCPs among the public. Moreover, the influencing pathways found to be different between the projects. This study revealed self-efficacy having no direct effect on public acceptance while perceived risks to have a significant direct effect on MCP with more perceived benefits. Hence, the mediating roles of different perceived benefit-risk on public acceptance were identified in this study. This research enriches the understanding of how internal and external factors affect public acceptance and highlights the multi-faceted roles of perceived benefit-risk from the different MCPs perspective. Therefore, the policy design for the development of MCPs should be with a view to developing "one project type, one policy" that are better suited to local conditions. Abstract: Chinese Law of Environmental Impact Assessment obligates the environmental impact assessment on land use planning. It will have a direct impact on regional land use patterns, and then affect the regional eco-environmental quality. Currently, the researches on theories and methodologies for environmental impact assessment of land use planning are hotspots in the fields of plan environmental impact assessment. With the support of ENVI 4.2, the remote sensing images of Wuhan City are interpreted, and then landforms, such as rivers, lakes and built-up areas, etc., are extracted. The digital elevation model is built on the 1:250000 topographic maps, then the terrain factors, e.g., slope, elevation, are extracted. With the support of spatial analysis module in ArcGIS 9.2, the comprehensive evaluation for urban industrial land ecological suitability are obtained based on the factor overlay analysis. The proportion of suitable, basically suitable and not suitable for land use is 20%, 28% and 52%, respectively. Finally, the land use planning is evaluated with indicators based on the ecological suitability analysis. The results showed that the layout for industrial land in Wuhan Urban Master Plan (1996-2020) is basically rational, and consistence with the conclusions derived from the ecological suitability analysis. With reference to Social Cognitive Theory, this study contributes to the debate on large-scale energy projects that can be classified as NIMBY developments and their implementation in order to better understand drivers to public acceptance. Public acceptance is essential for the development of typical NIMBY facilities. This study draws on Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) to investigate the determinants of public acceptance of a NIMBY facility in Wuhan City, China, to explore how the trade-off between the perceived benefit and risk affected public acceptance. Guanshan power substation was selected as the case study, and a questionnaire was presented to 450 local residents. Using a structural equation model, this study revealed that the perceived benefit-risk was positively related to public acceptance. Self-efficacy positively affected public acceptance via the perceived benefit-risk. Furthermore, the social environment exerted a significant positive effect on public acceptance, self-efficacy and perceived benefit-risk. Of 322 stool specimens collected from children with diarrhea from October 2005 through September 2006 in Wuhan, China, group A rotavirus was identified in 101 (31.4%). The most prevalent group A rotavirus genotype was G3P[8] (62.6%), followed by G1P[8](17.6%), G1+G3P[8](8.8%), G3P[4](6.6%), G1P[4](2.2%), and G9P[8](2.2%). • The severity of COVID-19 in pediatric cases was milder than adults. • Children younger than 2 years were more susceptible to COVID-19. • The average length of stay and the time of SARS-CoV-2 clearance were 10.57 and 6.39 days, respectively. At present, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread in many countries. We conducted this study to help pediatricians understand the conditions of COVID-19 in children. We retrospectively summarized the characteristics, treatment and outcomes of pediatric cases in Wuhan Children's Hospital which was the only designated hospital for children with COVID-19 in Hubei Province. A Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was used to evaluate factors associated with clinical outcomes. As of February 29, 75 children had been discharged, of which only one was has severe pneumonia and one was critical cases. Children younger than 2 years were more susceptible to COVID-19. All patients have received interferon-α nebulization, and eight cases including the severe and critical cases were co-administrated ribavirin. Five patients with mild pneumonia were given arbidol. Twenty-three patients were given traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The average length of stay (LOS) and the time of SARS-CoV-2 clearance were 10.57 and 6.39 days, respectively. None of the factors was associated with LOS or time of SARS-CoV-2 clearance. The severity of COVID-19 in pediatric cases were milder than adults.
