The article describes the public spaces at the Novelty Hill-Januik winery in Woodinville, Washington, which was designed by Mithun. This winery's exterior borrows the horizontal forms and concrete slabs of an industrial park in the same suburban neighborhood-but kicked up several grades of refinement. The interiors may be predominantly concrete and steel, but they are accented with ipé. They are also lavish with daylight.
