Abstract

The author discusses an optical mission that she and her colleagues conducted in the island of St. Vincent, north of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean, in which they performed mostly cataract surgeries. She discusses the challenges in surgical mission work, including postoperative concerns, and not having all of the equipment that are considered necessary. Also mentioned is the advantage of having a depot steroid for postoperative care.
