The article presents several research papers related to head and neck squamous cell cancer, presented at a National Cancer Institute State of the Science meeting on November 9-10, 2008 at Washington D.C. Topics of the research include the role of human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16) in oropharyngeal cancer, oral human papillomavirus infection and diagnosis pf HPV. The meeting featured several doctors including David J. Adelstein, John A. Ridge, and Maura L. Gillison.
