We report a previously healthy case of 56 years old male patient from Punto Fijo, Paraguana peninsula, Falcon state, Venezuela. He was diagnosed with eosinophilic duodenitis due to Strongyloides stercoralis (Nematoda: Rhabditida) infection after presenting a sudden abdominal pain and diarrhea with intense peripheral eosinophilia (62-72%). Parasitological diagnosis was carried out by a serial coproscopic analysis (direct and Kato-Katz), recovering larvae techniques (Harada-Mori and method with sand) and inmunohistochemistry analysis, and eosinophilic duodenitis by means of biopsies (inmunohistochemistry). The patient received oral ivermectin and made a complete recovery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
