Abstract: The application of mini-short tandem repeat (miniSTRs) has demonstrated to be an useful approach to increase overall typing success rate for degraded DNA samples. This study investigated the allele frequencies and forensic statistical parameters of three miniSTR autosomal loci (D10S1248, D2S441 and D22S1045) in a sample of 198 unrelated healthy individuals born in Veneto, Italy. The genotype frequency distributions showed no significant deviations from the Hardy–Weimberg equilibrium. The combined power of discrimination (PDc) and power of exclusion (PEc) for the three loci were 0.9990 and 0.8490, respectively. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
