The article discusses a court case wherein the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) charged the appellant with taking indecent photographs of children after his computer was seized and was found with 1,307 indecent images. In R. v. Penner, the appellant argued that there was no evidence that he made the images but he was later convicted when none of the issues he mentioned had been raised at the plea and case management hearing (PCMH). The author adds that the case shows the role played by the PCMH in the judge's responsibility to manage a case actively.
