A novel compact ultra-wideband bandpass filter is proposed to meet Federal Communications Commission's spectrum mask. Shunt short-circuited stubs and the parallel coupled lines are used to achieve a fraction passband from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. Three interdigital edge coupled microstrip lines are used for coupling enhancement. By employing short-circuited stubs, this filter significantly improves the selectivity and out-of-band characteristics. For verification, the proposed filter is designed, simulated, and fabricated with good agreement. The design of the filter is simple, and it shows good frequency response. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
