This article focuses on the growing aerospace industry of China. The ARJ21-700 regional jet, which is being developed by Avic I Commercial Aircraft Co. Ltd., is expected to have its first flight in March 2008 before beginning 14 months of flight testing. Certification is planned for 2009. The Chinese are also being recognized as suppliers of aviation parts to overseas customers through Avic I and Avic II. China also remains head to head in its competition with the U.S. regarding its space capabilities.
