The article offers information on the need for population control. Human society is experiencing a shortage of resources and a decline in the welfare of some peoples, and these changes, which threaten to accelerate, have stimulated social actions for population control. It is stated that limitation of population growth depends upon limitation of family size, and decisions regarding the later are made by individuals. It is stated that society sways this decision only by persuasion, as in the recent efforts of India's government to persuade its people that two children in a family are enough, or in the voluntarily supported Zero Population Growth movement in the United States. Western society has in the recent past restricted this ability by impeding the use of contraceptives.
