The article comments on an editorial entitled "The Ennobling of Normal Schools," which appeared in the August 29, 1912 issue of the "Journal of Education." The article states that normal schools are doing little to improve the conditions of the country and this is not the fault of the schools or the courses they offer. Two elements are mentioned by the author that would-be critics should understand. The first one is that all normal schools are providing courses for the preparation of future teachers and second is that it does not matter what the courses are because those who finish do not teach in the U.S. The author agrees to the editorial when it stated that the normal school must be cosmopolitan. more...
