Abstract

The article presents a study on the relationship between self-acceptance and sociometric choices in the U.S. The study uses two measures of self-acceptance and relationship with several sociometric measures investigated. There are 507 children in fourth, sixth and eighth grades which were being observed. The teachers in regular classes gave then two sessions of test from Lipsitt's Self-Concept scale and his ideal scale. It contained 22 trait-descriptive adjectives that will evaluate students' behavior. The results show that acceptance of others and acceptance by others were curvenearly related to self-concept scores. The trends were not significantly different in grades or sexes.
