The article discusses the benefits of the modern finance company as an alternative to bank finance for installment selling and consumer credit. The article focuses on the two categories of installment selling, industrial installment credit as might be seen in companies making capital investments or improvements that increase productivity or efficiency, and consumer installment credit, for use in the purchase of personal cars or home improvements. The author answers criticism of these financing products, discusses the legitimate use of installment credit as an economic tool for growth, and argues that installment credit has not had an adverse effect on principal and savings. The article concludes with an outline of the responsibilities of sound finance companies.
