Abstract

The author cites the advantages of award fees to contractors in the U.S. The award-fee contract motivates the contractors to perform better work since it offers better profit potential. The Interstate 10 freeway repair in California is the best example of successful performance-based contract. It is inferred that performance-based contracting provides incentive beyond the initial profit and it is also the key to win future contracts.
