The article discusses a study of hypoglycemia risk in older diabetic patients in the U.S. with hemoglobin A
1c (HbA1c ) levels of 8% or greater with continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). The severity of hypoglycemic episodes were examined in the study. Results show there is a high frequency of hypoglycemic episodes in older adults with poor glycemic control. The study warns about relying on HbA1c as the sole measure of good diabetes management in such patients.- Published
