The article discusses seventeenth-century landscape architect Isaac de Caus, focusing particularly on his writings and criticisms regarding his creativity, originality, and plagiarism. The author discusses mimesis and other literary conventions of the period in Great Britain and Europe, as well as the influence of the 1615 book "Les Raisons des Forces Mouvants," by Salomon de Caus, Isaac de Caus's brother as well as a notable landscape architect and engineer, on Isaac's 1644 book "Nouvelle invention de level l'eau plus hault que sa source avec quelques machines mouvantes par le moyen de Veau, et un discours de la conduite d'icelle."
