The article presents an examination into the political structure and culture of Hanoverian Ireland, examining the electoral system and practical politics of the nation. The political debates ongoing during 1753 to 1755 in Navan, Ireland are examined in-depth as a case study of the larger parliamentary order of the period. Details are given outlining the central focus of a multi-year controversy surrounding questions of authority over the management of the Irish treasury. Accounts are given of multiple disputed elections within the three years. Conclusions are offered pointing out the limited victory of Irish interests, highlighting the relative weakness of their actual authority in representation.
