The emphasis is placed on changes in the educational field of Ukraine and the importance of forming the competencies of future journalists. Features of the application of modern information technologies in distance learning are outlined. A review of scientific sources of Ukrainian and foreign scientists on the stated issues. The relevance of the introduction of integrated technologies in modern journalism education, which contributes to improving the training of future professionals, the formation of his competencies. Definitions of the concepts "integrated learning", "interdisciplinary approach", "team learning" are defined. The focus is on the need to use an integrated approach - binary classes to increase the level of cognitive activity and activity of higher education. The focus is on forming multi-qualification of the modern journalist working in convergent newsrooms. Means of practical training of students that significantly affect the formation of professional competencies are identified. The importance of media literacy and critical thinking for the training of future journalists has been updated. According to the results of an online survey of students, it was found that interactive teaching methods increase the level of critical thinking and form skills of verification of information as a program competence of future media professionals. Scientific approaches to understanding the concept of "binary class", the organization and methods of its implementation, the features of distance learning during the pandemic. The binary online lesson "Critical Thinking: Verification of Online Content" for students-journalists in the disciplines of journalism (photo and online journalism) on the Zoom platform is described. The skills and abilities necessary for the future mediator, which create a positive professional image and public authority, are generalized and classified. Summarized the application of new learning technologies for self-realization of students, the atmosphere of cooperation, increased responsibility of teachers for the results of their work. Vectors of further research of integrated interdisciplinary classes in the educational process are outlined.

Ukraine has created a competitive market of educational services, the supply of which has made a tremendous surge in the last 10 years. Trends in the development of higher education indicate that the decline in the number of student leads to a reduction in the number of higher education institutions, yet there is still a need to maintain highly professional teaching staff. The analysis of statistics shows that this tendency is common for most of the Eastern European countries. One way to improve the situation in higher education is to explore non-traditional educational avenues such as lifelong learning. This article presents the results of marketing research of consumer needs in continuing education. It was concluded that the use of Internet marketing technologies, in particular the content marketing, provide the maximum advantages to deal with the needs consumers in educational services.

This article investigates how policy learning could be used as an analytical tool for studying the development process of Bologna study cycles (Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate's or Ph.D.) in the Ukrainian higher education context. The development of the Bologna study cycles in Ukraine is associated with the fact that Ukraine joined the Bologna process. The findings show that the Bologna study cycles in Ukraine have been developing on the basis of the old national education-qualification and scientific cycles through a so-called process of layering of minor innovations. This layering has been quite productive as it was exercised jointly by multiple policy actors.

In comparison to a vast literature on Soviet education little is known about Ukrainian pedagogical sciences apart from a mounting critique about the issues of academic dishonesty and plagiarism, which relates to all higher education disciplines, the absence of an empirical tradition in education research, a poor record of publication in peer-reviewed journals, and the dominance of a positivist approach, which seeks to discover 'laws' rather than reach 'understanding'. This paper offers a thematic analysis of four 'Pedagogy' textbooks -- three textbooks for under-graduate studies and one textbook for post-graduate study. The textbook analysis demonstrates that Ukrainian pedagogical sciences as a research tradition is deeply rooted in its own conceptual apparatus with no apparent relation to the current debates about teaching and learning in a wider Europe. The key proposition of the paper is that Ukrainian pedagogical sciences represent a mixture of Herbatianism and dialectical materialism, with more recent developments that emphasise 'acme' or 'perfectionism' that could be compared to debates on virtue ethics in education. Alongside these narratives the discourse of 'Kozak pedagogy' contributes to the nation-building narrative in education. The paper calls for a review of the content of 'pedagogy' textbooks currently used in higher education institutions in Ukraine and envisages that the newly established Ukrainian Educational Research Association can provide a platform for this important undertaking.

The Bologna Process is an intergovernmental initiative aimed to make higher education degrees compatible in Europe. Previous research into the implementation of the Bologna objectives (or action lines) views the influence of the context as a challenge. This article suggests a different approach for analysing the implementation of the Bologna action lines. By applying the policy layering perspective, this article suggests positioning change in Bologna, and the influence of the context and its established policy conventions as two interconnected potentially productive powers that converge in one policy process. This article invites to view the context not only as a restraining problem but also as a co-moulder of Bologna implementation. To achieve this aim, the article relies on the findings from a case study of one of the Bologna action lines in Ukraine--a system of study credits in Ukraine.

Studying the species diversity and condition of monumental trees contributes to their preservation and is important for public awareness of their role in ecosystems and the country's ecological heritage. The purpose of the study was to reveal the significance of such trees for society. The task of the work was to research the characteristics of monumental trees in Ukraine. The history of environmental protection is analysed and the features of monumental tree preservation in Ukraine are presented. The beginning of environmental protection activity related to the preservation of trees in Ukraine and the most active periods have been revealed of it. The national features of the popularization of monumental trees are given. Based on the analysis of botanical natural monuments cadastres of Ukraine and Kyiv, quantitative and species composition of monumental trees were established. The most common (Quercus robur), common, less common and rare (Buxus sempervirens, Catalpa bignonioides, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Rhododendron myrtifolium, Sequoiadendron giganteum and others) species of monumental trees have been established, and important issues regarding their conservation are indicated. According to the types of street plantings, the majority (68%) are single trees. To assess the awareness of the population about ancient trees, the method of sociological survey of respondents was used. The most significant values of monumental trees for the population were studied. The importance of the populations' awareness of old trees through the development of an emotional connection with them, which contributes to their protection, has been established. The obtained results can be used in future environmental protection activity, exchanging of scientists' experience from different countries regarding the preservation of such trees, enrichment of information about growth characteristics, historical facts or other issues related to these trees [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

All over the world, children's injuries receive considerable attention. Road traffic injury is the main cause of child death. The aim of the research. To study and evaluate the clinical and nosological characteristics of traffic injuries in children as a medical and sanitary consequence of an emergency situation. Research materials and methods. This work is a continuation of the previous research [2], and is based on the study and retrospective analysis of 259 cases of children injured as a result of a traffic accident in the Kyiv and Chernivtsi regions in 2018-2019. The array of this study was formed by the method of irreversible randomization from the total array of 1,671 cases of traffic injuries that occurred in urban and rural areas of these regions. This work was carried out within the framework of the Doctoral Thesis «Traffic accidents (clinical-epidemiological, clinical-nosological characteristics, clinical features of the course of the traumatic process, principles of medical care)», approved by the Academic Council of the «Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Center of Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine» of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Minutes of the meeting of the Scientific Council No. 6, December 15, 2020), in accordance with the provisions of the Declaration of Helsinki and approved by the Bioethics Commission of the «Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Center of Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine» of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Protocol No. 10, December 8, 2020). Research Results. As a result of the research it was established that in the total number of children with road traffic injuries, the largest specific weight have children with the extent of damage to two anatomical and functional areas (AFA) - 47.67 %, and the smallest specific weight - four AFA (13.95 %). In 84.88 % of traffic injuries in children, they are polysystemic, i. e. two or more AFA are damaged, in the mass of the dead, the specific weight of such an injury is 90.91 %. The highest mortality rate was observed in children with damage to three AFAs (15.00 %), with damage to one AFA the mortality rate was 7.69 %, with damage to two AFAs - 14.63 %, with damage to four AFAs - 8.33 %. In the total number of injured children, the most frequent injury is to the head (82.56 %), and the least frequent is damage to the abdomen and pelvis with a specific gravity of 13.95 %. Limb injuries (56.98 %), chest injuries (41.86 %) and spine injuries (16.28 %) are also quite common in children. The combination factor in the general field is 2.26, in the field of the dead - 2.46 and in the field of the survivors - 2.23. The highest mortality is observed in victims with abdominal and pelvic trauma (25.0 % each), which is almost twice as high as the mortality in the general population (12.79 %). In second place is the mortality rate of children with chest trauma - 19.44 %, with head trauma - 16.90 %, with spinal trauma - 7.14 %. The lowest mortality rate was recorded for children with limb injuries - 4.08 %. Conclusions. 1. Traffic injuries in children in 84.88 % of cases are multicomponent, the combination ratio in the total mass is 2.26. 2. Head (82.56 %), limbs (56.98 %) and chest (41.86 %) are most often injured in traffic accidents. 3. The highest mortality rate is observed in children with pelvic and abdominal trauma (25.0 % each). The main purpose of the article is a theoretical and methodological substantiation of the choice of the optimal form of re-engineering for machine-building enterprises in modern conditions of a changing external environment. The object of the study is the business processes, commercial activities and financial potential of machine-building enterprises. The scientific task is to present a modern methodological approach to choosing the form of re-engineering that is better for a mechanical engineering company in the context of its current state. For this purpose, methods of financial analysis, matrix analysis and ranking were used. In addition, such auxiliary methods as graphical and abstract-logical were used. As a result of the research and calculations, a ranking of key indicators of the financial potential of machine-building enterprises was determined and carried out. An approach to determining the level of efficiency of business processes is presented. The author's vision of the matrix for choosing the optimal form of re-engineering is proposed. The practical value of the results obtained is revealed in the possibility of applying the proposed approach in the activities of machine-building enterprises in Ukraine. The study is limited by taking into account the specifics of the activities of machine-building enterprises exclusively when selecting indicators and ranking them. This article aims to identify factors influencing the shadow economy of the Ukrainian hospitality industry and to offer ways for its reduction. The result of the research has shown a high level of the shadow sector in the Ukrainian hospitality industry. This is facilitated by many factors but the most significant of them are high social security contributions and hefty taxes. The analysis reveals that the level of expenditures in the hospitality business is the highest, with the average salary being the lowest among considered sectors of the economy. This indicates that the sector is very labour-intensive, which contributes to an increase in tax burden and, as a result, an increase in the informal hospitality sector. We propose the main directions for reforming the tax system to reduce the level of the informal economy in the hospitality industry. Ukraine needs to introduce preferential VAT rates for the hotel business, and the accommodation sector needs more reduction of the standard rate. The practice of paying the tourist tax also needs to be reformed. According to the current legislation, the payers of the tourist tax are tourists, and the tax agents are the business entities of the accommodation sector, which are mostly "in the shadows". As a result, a significant part of tourists does not actually pay the tourist tax. The introducing a mechanism for paying the tourist tax, which would allow all tourists to be taxpayers, would create an opportunity for better financing and development of the tourist destination. To legalise the shadow sector in the hospitality industry it is also necessary to reduce the single tax rate for small businesses in this area. The article deals with theoretical and methodical aspects of developing professional competency in first aid in future coaches of Ukraine. It aims to theoretically justify and experimentally verify the methodology for developing professional competency in first aid in future coaches based on simulation learning. The research hypothesis assumes that the level of professional competency in first aid in future coaches will increase if the author's methodology has been implemented in their training based on simulation learning and taking into account neurophysiological factors. The article proves that simulation learning, along with the use of such approaches as "four steps", "positive criticism" and "continuous assessment" in the framework of such components of professional competency as motivation and values, knowledge and practice, personal and psychological aspects, organization and communication, leads to positive changes in the development of professional competence in first aid in future coaches. The international relevance of the article is as follows: for the first time in the post-Soviet space, it has been suggested to improve theoretical and methodological aspects of developing professional competency in first aid in future coaches, taking into account neurophysiological factors and current trends; the author's methodology for developing competency in first aid on the example of Ukraine, which is available for the countries with ongoing reforms education, has been presented. In the study, it was found that today bank lending to agro-industrial enterprises in the short term does not have economically justified prerequisites for its development and can not perform a stimulating function. Low or negative profitability and accumulated losses of previous periods do not cover the high price of credit resources. As a result, the attraction of credit funds in the economic activities of enterprises overtime only worsen the already difficult financial situation. On the other hand, the existing lending practice has already led to the fact that about 55% of loans are not repaid on time. That is why the banking system needs to apply stricter approaches to risk management when choosing counter parties. Otherwise, it will also threaten its stability. The scientific novelty of this work is the economic justification of the feasibility of lending to agroindustrial enterprises of Ukraine, based on banking statistics and modern approaches to financial management and, unlike the existing situation, taking into account the interests of both businesses and the banking sector. This article focuses on historical and contemporary connotations of the Intermarium concept--Ukrainian and Polish academic and political thought on how to organize and govern the space between the Baltic and Black seas--employing the ideas of Józef Piłsudski, Józef Beck, Michał Czajkowski (Mykhailo Chaikovs'kyi), Mykhailo Drahomanov, members of the Brotherhood of Saints Cyril and Methodius, and other intellectuals. In this context, it traces Ukraine's and Poland's attempts to construct Intermarium-type intergovernmental frameworks in the aftermath of the Cold War. It also examines the current stage of Ukrainian-Polish co-operation--the latter being regarded by Intermarium founding fathers as a vital precondition for this framework to be realized. In this respect, the article considers bilateral advancements in political, economic, cultural, and security spheres. As the emergence of a Ukrainian-Polish institutionalized linchpin is impossible in the contemporary geopolitical architecture, the article proposes that the term "Intermarium" has become ambiguous. The article deals with the identification of foreigners and stateless persons, problems of legal regulation of relations of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on collecting biometric data of persons, types of data subject to collection, processing, storage and administration. The problems existing in the mechanisms of collecting biometric data of foreigners and stateless persons, as well as issues of personal data protection are considered. An attempt was made to suggest changes to laws and regulations in the field of migration and border protection on the basis of empirical data. The goal is to investigate the mechanism of identification of foreigners and stateless persons during border control procedures at border crossing points (checkpoints) and at entry-exit checkpoints, as well as during administrative proceedings and to identify ways to improve the legal regulation of these procedures in the activities of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The methods used in the research were the analysis and comparison of national legislation with the legislation of the European Union Member States and the Council of Europe (including the case law of the European Court of Human Rights) on biometric data. The questionnaire survey method enabled to obtain objective information about the border guards' awareness of personal data. The forecasting method was used to formulate proposals for amendments to the legislation to improve the organization of work processes in the activities of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine when using IT systems. The research will enable to improve the procedure for collecting biometric data of foreigners and stateless persons by border guards, strengthen the capacity of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to combat illegal migration. To develop and cross-culturally validate the Ukrainian version of the ABILHAND-Kids questionnaire by testing its psychometric properties in a sample of Ukrainian children with cerebral palsy. The ABILHAND-Kids questionnaire was translated into Ukrainian, cross-culturally adapted, and administered to 113 parents of children with cerebral palsy. The psychometric properties of the Ukrainian version and its cross-cultural validation were investigated through the Rasch rating scale model. One major misfit has been found for the item "Rolling up a sleeve of a sweater" that further was removed. The item "Putting on a backpack/schoolbag" was split into gender-specific items, separately for girls and for boys, as it was systematically easier for Ukrainian girls. All remaining items contributed to the definition of a unidimensional measure of manual ability. The internal consistency reliability of the scale was high (R = 0.95). No significant floor (4%) and ceiling effects (5%) were observed. Three major differential item functioning items were found across Belgium and Ukraine, highlighting the need to use the Ukrainian calibration of ABILHAND-Kids in Ukraine. The Ukrainian ABILHAND-Kids questionnaire has good psychometric properties for assessing manual ability in Ukrainian children with cerebral palsy, holding potential to be implemented in clinical practice nationwide. Cerebral palsy impairs manual ability leading to decreased quality of life and participation. Professionals need valid and reliable tools to detect small changes of manual ability during rehabilitation. Metric properties and availability of the Ukrainian version of the ABILHAND-Kids questionnaire make it a useful tool in the assessment of children with cerebral palsy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this publication, we consider the impact of the Pleistocene environmental changes (with a focus on soil formation and other factors) on the abundance and distribution of burrowing small mammals in the Ukrainian area. The general patterns of changes in nature and climate, such as direction, rhythm, zonality, regionality, and individuality of development, play a significant role in analysing the trends in the small mammal fauna change over time and laterally throughout the Pleistocene. These patterns became decisive in the formation and distribution of the small-mammal fauna in Ukraine, when the climatic conditions, accessibility to colonisation, determined by obstacles and distance from the centres of formation of previously existing species, served as restriction. The Bologna Process is an international policy project for the convergence of higher education structures in the European Higher Education Area. Most of the literature on Bologna represents studies that focus on the implementation implications of the reforms. The focus on the reform process, particularly in relation to the development process of Bologna policy actors, has been under-represented in the literature. This article investigates the process of the development of the main policy actors involved in the Bologna reform in the case of Ukraine. The timeframe includes the pre-history of Bologna since Ukrainian independence in 1991 until after the introduction of the relevant policy changes in 2003, and through to the issue of 2014 Law on Higher Education. Empirical data were collected through interviews with higher education actors in Ukraine and policy document search. Both types of data were thematically analyzed. The analysis in this article is informed by the policy learning theory and demonstrates the interconnection between path-dependency and change in the development of policy actors in the Bologna reform in Ukraine. This article shows that the old clusters of higher education actors, and the pre-Bologna relationships amongst some of them have been reproduced during the Bologna reform. At the same time, such a reproduction of the old during the reform was only partial as the Bologna Process has also been altering the relationships among some actors to an extent. Among the important conditions for the implementation of an effective state regulatory policy to ensure the economic security of the agricultural sector, special attention needs to be paid to the timely identification of the most significant threats to the restoration of the economic growth of the agrarian sector. We propose the develop special indicators of economic security. The set of such indicators plays an important role in determining the level of economic security and will allow timely responses to possible threats and risks, and their criteria are an important instrument of public policy during the assessment. The implementation of the task must be done through the use of indicators of institutional provision of the agrarian sector as an important factor in timely and effective identification, diagnosis and development of a set of measures to minimize the risks of the agrarian enterprise. It is established for the first time that there are several regions in Ukraine, in which the earthquakes occurring within platform territory are correlated to the anomalous conductive structures in the Earth's crust and upper mantle. These regions are identified as (1) Donbass and the eastern part of the Dnieper-Donetsk Depression (DDD); (2) eastern margin of the Ingulets-Krivoi Rog suture zone in the area of the Krivoi Rog-Kremenchug fault zone; (3) the western part of the Cis-Azov megablock; (4) the western boundary of the Ukrainian Shield and its slope; (5) North Dobruja and Pre-Dobrujan Depression. The reconstructed tree-dimensional (3D) geoelectrical models of the Earth's crust and upper mantle feature anomalously low values of electric resistivity. The earthquake sources in the platform areas of Ukraine are localized above the top and in the upper parts of the crustal anomalies of electrical conductivity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) was used for the analysis of ecological characteristics of the northwestern Black Sea region, which includes significant coastal territories and sea water areas along the northwest coast of the Black Sea. In the present study the following data were used: (1) NDVI and Vegetation Health Index (VHI) spatial distribution data for the period 1997-2008 for southern areas of the Ukraine around the Black Sea (prepared in the USA from NOAA's GVI2 dataset), (2) 1998-2008 NDVI data derived from MODIS (Aqua and Terra) visible channels and SeaWiFS scanners. It is shown that in the integrated land-marine ecosystem in the coastal zone, NDVI can be used as an indicator for hazards such as hypoxia, hydrosulphuric infection and eutrophication. The article offers information about Ukrainian Academy of Sciences academician Yaroslav Stepanovych Pidstryhach. He was born on May 25, 1928 and earned his degrees from the Franko State Lviv University and the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. He was known for his contribution to the fields of mechanics and applied mathematics, particularly in thermomechanics, mechanothermodiffusion and hydroacoustics, among which. He attempts to promote the prestige of Ukrainian science in the whole world.

Natural fermented dairy products are a source of new promising strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB). The purpose of the study was to find new strains of LAB isolated from traditional dairy products, useful for industrial applications as a component of a starter. 25 cultures out of 106 microbial cultures isolated from artisanal Carpathian cheeses made from raw ewe's milk in Ukraine belong to the Enterococcus genera. Four (SB6, SB12, SB18 and SB20) strains were not registered in the National Center for Biotechnology Information database, we registered them in the database as E. faecium under numbers MZ227257, MZ227255, MZ227254, MZ227256 respectively. These strains have shown moderate lactic acid production ability (pH 4.99–5.10) and resistance to 6.5% salt concentration. Despite the fact that by the nucleotide sequence of 16 S rRNA strains of enterococci belonged to the same species of E. faecium , they differed slightly in biochemical properties. All strains showed moderate antagonistic activity against E. coli , S. enteritidis , E. aerogenes , P. mirabilis and P. aeruginosa , but did not show antagonistic activity against S. aureus. Strains showed sensitivity to antibiotics, with the exception of aminoglycosides; they did not exhibit pathogenic properties and can be used for food production. • Bacterial strains from traditional Carpathian cheese were isolated and identified. • Four new strains of enterococci according to the nucleotide sequence were registered in the NCBI database. • The sensitivity of strains to antibiotics and antagonistic activity is presented. • The safety of strains has been proven based on an examination of their pathogenic properties. Abstract: We present measurements of 137Cs contamination for some of the berry plants and medicinal herbs growing in the western part of Ukrainian Polesye during 1996–2009. Basing on the calculations of the aggregated transfer factors, we classified the medicinal herbs into five groups according to their ability for accumulation of 137Cs: very weak (T ag < 10−3), weak (10−3 < T ag < 10−2), moderate (10−2 < T ag < 5 × 10−2), strong (5 × 10−2 < T ag < 10−1) and very strong (T ag > 10−1). The 137Cs concentrations in the berry plants significantly decreased during the time of our monitoring and the rate of this decrease was much higher than that typical of the corresponding soils. This is because with time the 137Cs in the soil was becoming less accessible for uptake by plant roots due to its fixation on micaceous clay minerals. The seasonal variations of the 137Cs concentrations in the vegetative and generative organs of the plants revealed a good interdependence between the seasonal peculiarities of 137Cs accumulation by the organs and the features of their vegetation period. Burn prevention has been identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a topic in need of further investigation and education throughout the world, with an increased need in low-income countries. It has been noted that implementing educational programs for prevention in high income countries has aided in lowering the rate of burn injuries. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the current education level of knowledge of prevention and first aid treatment of scald burns. A prevention campaign will target these educational needs as a part of an outreach program to improve burn care in Ukraine. The research team evaluated the current health structure in Ukraine and how it could benefit from the increased knowledge of burn prevention and first aid. A test was designed to assess the baseline level of knowledge with regard to first aid and scald prevention in parents, pregnant woman, and healthcare and daycare providers. A total of 14,456 tests were sent to pediatric clinics, obstetrician clinics, and daycare facilities to test respondents. A total of 6,120 completed tests were returned. Doctors presented with the highest level of knowledge averaging 77.0% on prevention and 67.5% on first aid while daycare workers presented the largest gap in knowledge at 65.0% in prevention and 54.3% in first aid. Interest in further educational materials was reported by 92% of respondents. The results of this study clearly show a lack of knowledge in first aid and prevention of scald burn injury in all the populations tested.

Analysis of albumin, transferrin, receptor to vitamin D, esterase, alpha 1-beta glycoprotein polymorphisms in Przhewalski's horse, Orlov's and Russian trotters, Guzul and Yakutian domestic horse breeds was carried out. The data about similarity of intraspecies differentiation of Przewalski's horse's populations and interbreed distinctions were obtained. Locus-specific particularities of genetic structures of investigated animal groups were revealed.
