Background: The education given in cancer process will contribute to better cope with the problems that may be experienced and to improve self-management skills, thus to the improvement in the quality of life., Aim/objectives: This study aimed to determine the effect of video-assisted education on the quality of life of women with breast cancer who received chemotherapy treatment for the first time., Design: The control group pre-test/post-test study design was used., Methods: The study was conducted with women who applied to Outpatient Chemotherapy Unit of a university hospital in Turkey between September 2016 and March 2017 and who received chemotherapy for the first time. The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaires namely EORTC QLQ-C30 and EORTC QLQ-BR23 were used to obtain the data., Results: In the education group patients in the fourth cycle of chemotherapy; a decrease in general well-being and a significant increase in dyspnoea, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite were observed. In control group patients in the fourth cycle of chemotherapy, a decrease in general well-being, physical and role functions and a significant increase in nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and fatigue. Breast symptoms and arm symptoms in the educational group patients decreased from the 1st to the 4th cycle., Conclusions: It has been determined that the application of visual material in patients with breast cancer in the education and counselling process is effective in improving the quality of life.

Objective: To investigate pregnancy outcomes and to define preventative measures against to risk factors and complications in pregnancy after liver transplantation. Secondary aim is to report postpartum allograft functions in these patients. Method: This is a case series study. All pregnant women with liver transplantations performed in our hospital were enrolled. Patients' hospital medical records, electronic records Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) records were used to collect data. Obstetric characteristics and antenatal complications, risk factors, pregnancy and neonatal outcomes, all aspects of liver transplant variables and allograft functions after pregnancy were studied. Results: A total of 11 patients were included in the study. All of them were singleton. Mean maternal age was 29.3 ± 3.9 years. And mean gestational week of delivery was 37.2 ± 2.2. 78% of the women were delivered at term (>37 weeks) only two babies were preterm and discharged from NICU without any complications. Birth weight (gr median ± SD) was 2575 ± 345. Five (45%) patients were nulliparous, majority of the cases (8/11, 72%) were conceived of pregnant with natural way. Live birth rate was 81% (9/11). Only one patient for each has suffered from fetal growth restriction, maternal anemia, maternal hyperthyroidism, and ulcerative colitis. Vaginal bleeding was seen in five women during the pregnancy. There was no maternal death, stillbirth or neonatal death. The mode of delivery for all live birth pregnancies was C-section. And none of them was emergency C-section. No complication of allograft function was seen after pregnancy. Conclusion: Pregnancy in women with liver transplantation is not associated with poor pregnancy outcomes and complications for both the mother and the neonates when these patients followed up at tertiary referral center with multidisciplinary approaches.

Health literacy (HL) competencies vary across different health domains, and so the youth HL level plays an important role in access to healthcare. The aim of this study was to determine HL levels, the factors that affect it and health-promoting lifestyle behaviours of university students. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 905 students in nursing, law and Islamic sciences departments. An introductory information form, European Health Literacy Scale and Health Promoting Lifestyle Behaviors Scale were used to collect research data. The results showed that 45% of the students had a problematic HL level. Each subscale of the HL scale exhibited a significant positive correlation with the subscales of the Health Promoting Lifestyle Behaviors scale. Logistic regression showed that gender and health education were significantly associated with the HL level. The purpose of this study was to understand the views of hospitalized patients regarding family/informal caregivers (ICs). In this study thematic content analysis was used, interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and coded. The 4 themes and 11 subthemes were determined. Themes: Identity of IC, expectations of IC, feelings about the presence or absence of an IC. Along with feeling positive emotions when ICs were present, patients also felt as though they were a burden on caregivers. Family caregivers are an important social support for patients and they may lead to more meaningful patient outcomes globally.

Objectives: Deceased-donor kidney transplant is unique among surgical procedures that are an urgent procedure performed in an elective population. It has not been possible to accurately determine when a given patient will be called for transplant. Patients on the active transplant list can be called for a transplant at any time. As a result, every effort must be made to optimize their health according to best practices and published clinical practice guidelines., Materials and Methods: Once the patient is placed on the transplant wait list after undergoing an initial extensive evaluation, continued surveillance is required. Therefore, we developed a kidney transplant wait list surveillance software program that alerts organ transplant coordinator on time regarding which patients need a work-up., Results: The new designed software has a database of our waiting patients with their completed and pending controls. The software also has built-in functions to warn the responsible staff with an E-mail. If one of the controls of a recipient delayed, the software sends an automated E-mail to the staff regarding the patients delayed controls. The software is a Web application that works on any platform with a Web browser and Internet connection and allows access by multiple users. The software has been developed with NET platform. The database is SQL server. The software has the following functions: patient communication info, search, alert list, alert E-mail, control entry, and system management., Conclusions: As of January 2014, a total of 21 000 patients were registered on the National Kidney Transplant wait list in Turkey and the kidney transplant wait list had been expanding by 2000 to 3000 patients each year. Therefore computerized wait list programs are crucial to help to transplant centers to keep their patients up-to-date on time.

This study aims at determining spiritual/religious coping strategies of nursing students dealing with the first experience of witnessing death during clinical practices. One of the qualitative research approaches, a descriptive phenomenological study was designed. The study was carried out with 14 nursing students studying at a state university in Turkey. The students' first experiences of witnessing death were examined by the personal in-depth interviewing method. Data were analyzed using the thematic analysis method. The following five main themes were identified by the analysis: Perception of death; Witnessing death for the first time; Coping with death experience; Needs and recommendations; Impact of spirituality and religion. The obtained findings were presented according to the COREQ criteria. The findings showed that witnessing death for the first time is a difficult experience that affects students in various ways and students prayed and performed their prayers frequently to cope with the death experience. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the symptoms observed during admission to palliative care in patients that would be provided palliative support, to measure their intensity, and to evaluate the effect of palliative care on patient symptoms by recording changes during the first week after admission to hospital., Methods: The sample of the study was determined as 108 according to the population mean significance test conducted by using preliminary application data. Patients who were able to complete the Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale during admission to hospital, on the 3(rd) and 7(th) days of hospitalization were included into the evaluation. The Introductory Characteristics Questionnaire, Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale and Palliative Performance Scale were used for the collection of the data., Results: While 50% of the patients defined pain intensity as 5 and over during admission, this rate was determined to be 6.5% on the 7(th) day. Mean values of the symptoms of pain, insomnia, loss of appetite, and status of well-being decreased significantly on the 3(rd) and 7(th) days after admission compared to the time of admission to the hospital. Besides, no statistically significant difference was found among the symptoms of nausea, anxiety, shortness of breath, and constipation., Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the intensity of symptoms deteriorating the life quality of cancer patients such as pain, fatigue, insomnia, loss of appetite, and status of well-being improved rapidly with palliative care support.

The ameliorating influence of different teaching strategies on Turkish nursing students' computer-related anxiety was evaluated in this study. Research data were gathered from a Computer Anxiety Scale before the teaching strategies were put into practice on 134 undergraduate nursing students, and again afterward. Two teaching methods, participative and traditional, were used. Before training, only 64.2% of the participative method group had an e-mail address, and 14.9% had a computer at home. The other group was similar. After training, the participative method group scored significantly lower than did the traditional method group (P > .05). We conclude that nursing trainers should prefer participative teaching strategies to effectively reduce computer anxiety. Participative methods also have a positive effect on human and computer interaction.

The aim of this study was to identify possible relationships between biochemical- superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) of mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis) and chemical (Hg, Cd, Pb, Cr, Cu, Zn, Mn and Fe) contaminants from relatively clean area (Middle Bay) and heavily polluted area (Inner Bay) of the Izmir Bay. Sampling of mussels was performed in the beginning of May 2004. Mussel digestive glands have been used for biochemical assays. Trace metal content was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer using standard procedures. Metal contents in mussels collected at polluted site increased compared to the middle part of the bay. While there was a positive correlation between metals and SOD enzyme activity, there was a negative correlation between metals and GPx enzyme activity. An increase was observed in SOD enzyme activity and a decrease of GPx enzyme activity at the inner part of the bay.

Objective: This study aimed to examine women's attitudes and related factors towards cancer screening in Turkey. Methods: This analytical-cross-sectional study was conducted between June and September 2022. The universe of the study consisted of all women between the ages of 30-70 in Turkey, and the sample included 335 women. The data of the study were collected online with the "Personal Information Form" and "Attitude Scale for Cancer Screening". Results: The average Attitude Scale for Cancer Screening total score of the women participating in the study was 84.36±14.55. Of the women who participated in the study, 33.1% did not perform breast self-examination, 63.1% did not perform clinical breast examination, 49.5% did not perform Pap smear and HPV-DNA testing, 60.9% did not perform mammography, 76.1% did not perform fecal occult blood testing and 93.8% did not perform colonoscopy. It was determined that education status, breast self-examination, clinical breast examination, Pap Smear and HPV-DNA test frequencies, and knowing the places where cancer screening was performed affected the Attitude Scale for Cancer Screening score averages (F = 8.729, p = 0.000). Conclusion: It was determined that the attitudes of the women participating in the study towards cancer screening were moderate. Several factors are done affect attitudes towards cancer screening. Death anxiety may reduce the interaction between nurses and patients, causing nurses to focus more on the physical care needs of patients and ignore their psychosocial and spiritual needs. This study was conducted to examine nurses' death anxiety and attitudes toward caring for dying patients. The data were collected using an information form, the Thorson-Powell Death Anxiety Scale (TPDAS), and the Frommelt Attitudes Toward the Care of the Dying Scale (FATCOD). The mean TPDAS and FATCOD scores were 46.71 (14.48) and 104.97 (13.55), respectively, and it was determined that they had moderate death anxiety and positive attitudes towards the care of dying patients. Those working in intensive care and internal medicine clinics had more positive attitudes toward caring for dying patients compared with those working in surgical clinics. Background: Death is an abstract concept that extends over life. Although it is a natural part of life, people have difficulty coming to terms with it. Objective: This study was investigated the effect of fear of COVID-19 on nursing students' attitudes towards death and the care of dying patients. Results: The study is descriptive and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 250 nursing students from two universities in Turkey. The data were collected using Demographic Characteristics Questionnaire, Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S), the Death Attitude Profile (DAP) and Frommelt Attitude Toward the Care of the Dying Scale (FATCOD). Conclusion: Female students have more fear of COVID-19 than male students. Students with a high fear of COVID-19 have more positive attitudes towards death and caring for the dying individual. While it was determined that the COVID-19 pandemic affected nursing students in many ways, it was concluded that the fear of COVID-19 had an effect on attitudes of nursing students related to end-of-life care and death. The present study was conducted to determine the relationship between the psychological resilience of earthquake survivor students and their general health status. This descriptive and correlational study was conducted at a state university in Turkey in June 2023 with the nursing department students of a university that experienced two major earthquakes in Turkey on February 6, 2023. The sample of the study consisted of 287 students. The data of the study were collected with the "Descriptive Characteristics Form," "Brief Resilience Scale," and "General Health Questionnaire‐12." Filling out the forms took approximately 5−10 min. It was determined in the present study that the psychological resilience of the earthquake survivor students was moderate. It was found that the girls, second graders, those with higher income levels, those who did not receive medication/professional support for their mental health, and those who described their health as good generally had higher psychological resilience levels. It was found that the general health status of the earthquake survivors was at an increased risk level, and 69% of them were at high risk for mental diseases. The mental health of girls, first graders, those who had low‐income levels, those who lost loved ones in the earthquake, those whose houses were damaged, those who received medication/professional support for mental health, those who did not generally participate in distance education, and those who described their health as deficient in general, had worse mental health levels. A high relationship was detected between nursing students' psychological resilience and mental health (p < 0.05). This study was conducted to reveal the perceptions of cancer through metaphors among second-year nursing students. This study utilized descriptive phenomenology, which is a qualitative research design. In order to reveal the metaphors that each nursing student (n = 65) considered for the concept of "cancer," they were asked to complete the following sentence: "Cancer is like ……, because ……". In analyzing the data, a content analysis approach comprising coding, the identification of themes, and grouping of data according to codes and themes was used. It was found that the nursing students produced 44 different metaphors. With the groupings made from the students' perspectives on cancer, categories of "crime/punishment," "fear/anxiety/pain," "uncertainty," "uncontrollability," and "struggle/hope" were identified. In particular, the students' metaphors of "test," "fight," "unwanted friend," "love," "naughty child," "thief," and "trouble" for the concept of cancer came to the fore. Cancer is one of the most important public health problems all over the world and in Turkey. This situation continues to grow globally every day, placing serious physical, emotional and financial pressure on individuals, families, society and the healthcare system. Studies to be carried out to increase social awareness in terms of cancer are crucial. The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of Ankara's central district municipality employees towards community-based cancer screenings within the scope of cancer control programs. This crosssectional study was conducted with 254 people who worked in a central district municipality in Ankara and agreed to participate. 16.9% of the participants stated that they had cancer screening. Of those who had cancer screening, 63.6% stated that they had it done in the hospital, 29.6% in KETEMs (Kanser Erken Teşhis, Tarama ve Eğitim Merkezi, Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Education Centers), 6.8% in a doctor's office, and 1.6% stated that they were diagnosed with cancer. The median of the scores the participants received from the attitude scale is 92.0 (52.0-120.0). 30.3% of the participants stated that they had previously received training on cancer and 23.6% on cancer screening methods. Although the attitudes of participants towards cancer screenings were positive, the level of participation in screenings was found to be quite low. Education is essential in gaining positive attitudes and behaviors towards cancer and cancer screenings. It is extremely important that healthcare professionals provide training on cancer to create positive changes in screening behavior. Background: Ethical decision-making education in nursing can be taught effectively by combining different teaching models that support the visualisation of taught concepts and integrating theory into practice. Objectives: The study aims to examine the effect of flipped and jigsaw learning models on ethical decision-making and ethical sensitivity in nursing. Research design: We used a nested mixed design. A pretest-posttest single-group quasi-experimental design was used in the quantitative part, and a case study method was used in the qualitative part. Participants and research context: This study was conducted in fall semester with second-year nursing students who studied an ethics course for the first time, using two different collaborative learning models. In the quantitative part, ethical dilemma and ethical sensitivity scales were made as pre-test with 117 and post-test with 128 students. In the qualitative part, a semi-structured three focus group interviews was conducted with 16 students. Ethical considerations: After obtaining the approval of the University's ethics committee, the study was carried out after obtaining participants' informed written and verbal consent. Findings: Students' perspectives changed positively after training. This was related to six cases in section A of the Ethical Dilemma Scale. In part B, Practical Consideration (PC) and Principled Thinking (PT) mean scores were similar, showing no significant difference. For Familiarity in section C, it was determined that 68.4% of students in the pre-test and 77.3% in the post-test were familiar with similar dilemmas. The ethical sensitivity scale's total scores were in a similar range. In the qualitative stage, ethical decision-making, ethical sensitivity, ethical dilemma and the improvement process were obtained as a theme. Conclusions: There was an increase in the level of ethical sensitivity and familiarity with ethical dilemmas of nursing students after education. Background: The status of nurses who form the backbone of the health system, and the society's perspective on nursing has undergone serious transformations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The visibility of nurses, who constantly fought on the front lines in the harsh conditions of the pandemic, increased even more in this period. Thus, this study was aimed at determining Turkish people's perception of nursing during the COVID-19 pandemic and investigating whether there is a significant relationship between the mean score obtained from the Nursing Image Scale and the descriptive variables. Method: The sample of this cross-sectional study consisted of 420 Turkish citizens. The "Descriptive Characteristics Form" and "Nursing Image Scale" were used to collect data. In addition to descriptive analysis, the t-test and One-Way ANOVA test were used. Results: Turkish people's nursing image during the COVID-19 pandemic was highly positive. Individuals who stated that they had a chronic disease perceived nursing as a professional occupation, which transformed their current nursing image to a more positive image during the COVID-19 pandemic and the mean score they obtained from the Nursing Image Scale was statistically significantly high. Conclusion: We concluded that Turkish people's perceptions of nurses changed for the better during the pandemic and their awareness of nursing improved. It is the nurses' responsibility to improve the nursing image of the society. AIM: One of the most common problems in individuals receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy is neuropathy. The study aimed to evaluate the peripheral neuropathy and the relationship between neuropathy, disability, and anxiety in patients receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy. METHODS: The sample of the study consisted of individuals with cancer in the chemotherapy unit of a city hospital between March and July 2021. The study was conducted in 180 patients who underwent at least three cycles of neurotoxic chemotherapy and agreed to participate. The Introductory Information Form, Brief Disability Questionnaire, Beck Anxiety Inventory, and Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events were used to collect data. RESULTS: The prevalence of peripheral neuropathy in patients undergoing neurotoxic chemotherapy was 73.3% in this study. According to the severity of peripheral neuropathy, disability and anxiety scores of the patients showed a significant difference (p < .001). A positive, moderate significant correlation was determined between the scores for anxiety and disability. The variables affecting the neuropathy levels of individuals receiving chemotherapy were determined as marital status (odds ratio=0.239), number of cycles (odds ratio=0.125), and anxiety levels (odds ratio=1.076). CONCLUSION: The results of the present study indicated that the frequency of neuropathy was high and the severity of neuropathy was associated with anxiety and disability levels. This study aimed to determine the relationship between health literacy and ecological footprint which is an indicator of sustainability and environmental impact and to examine the factors that may affect them. It was found that 20.3% of individuals have inadequate, 43.7% problematic, 26.1% sufficient and 10.0% excellent health literacy levels. There were differences in age, education level and BMI classification according to Ecological Footprint Awareness Scale score quartiles and health literacy levels (p < 0.05). It was determined that age and Turkey Health Literacy Scale score had effect on ecological footprint awareness. Individuals with a high level of health literacy have a high awareness of their ecological footprint. The increase in people's health literacy levels and ecological footprint awareness with age can be interpreted as the increase in people's education and knowledge levels and their awareness levels against the protection of nature and the environment. Purpose: This study was conducted to determine nursing student attitudes towards ageism, their willingness to care for older adults, their level of care quality perception, and to examine the relationships between them. Material and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study. The study was conducted at four different universities in Turkiye. The population for the research consisted of fourth-year students studying in the nursing departments of four different universities in 2020 - 2021 academic year. Data were collected using the Student Information Form, Ageism Attitude Scale, Elderly Patient Care Inventory, and Caring Behaviors Inventory-24. In the data analysis, independent samples t-test, ANOVA and Spearman Correlation were used. Results: Students had positive attitudes towards ageism. There were positive relationships between ageism with perception of care quality and willingness to care for older adults. It was determined that there was a positive and statistically advanced relationship between the willingness to care for the elderly and the attitude of ageism (r=0.48; p<0.001). It was determined that there was a positive and significant relationship (r=0.49; p<0.001) between age discrimination and the level of perception of quality of care. There was no statistically significant relationship between students' willingness to care for the elderly and their caring behaviors (r=0.18; p>0.05), but there was a significant relationship between the sub-dimension of commitment (r=0.24; p<0.05). Conclusion: The increases in students' positive attitudes towards ageism, their perception of the quality of care and willingness to care for the elderly are positive in parallel. OBJECTIVES: The present study aimed to evaluate the operation results of patients who were followed up due to breast cancer and were operated on due to gynecological pathologies or for prophylactic purposes, and determine the distribution of gynecological pathologies in breast cancer patients STUDY DESIGN: Patients with breast cancer who had gynecological surgery in our institution between December 2015 and January 2023 were retrospectively analyzed in this cross-sectional study. The pathological reports and medical records of the included patients were obtained from the gynecologic oncology electronic database system and the patient files. The study is approved by the institution's local ethics committee. RESULTS: Totally 57 patients with a history of breast cancer had gynecological operations between December 2015 and January 2023. The median age of the patients was 49. Benign pathologies were detected in the majority of patients with a history of breast cancer, this rate was found to be 87.7%. The pathology revealed malignant/premalignant disease in seven (12.2%) patients. Among these seven patients, four patients had malignant disease one patient had microinvasive cervical cancer, one patient had ovarian serous cancer, one patient had cervical and ovarian metastasis of breast cancer, and one patient had ovarian metastasis of breast cancer. Background: Intensive care units (ICUs) are environments where nurses are open to emotional interactions because of complex structures and dynamic relationships. Nurses' susceptibility to emotional contagion and their spiritual care competence may affect the quality of care by influencing their ability to manage and respond to the emotional dynamics present in these environments., Aim: This study aimed to determine the level of emotional contagion and spiritual care competence in intensive care nurses., Study Design: This study is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted with 199 nurses working in the ICUs of a training and research hospital in Turkey. The data were collected between December 2021 and June 2022 using the Emotional Contagion Scale (ECS) and the Spiritual Care Competence Scale (SCCS)., Results: The mean score of the nurses was 50.29 ± 15.36 on the ECS and 90.29 ± 29.53 on the SCCS. A statistically significant difference was found between the ECS and SCCS and gender, marital status, weekly working hours and some approaches about spiritual care (p < .05). It was determined that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the total scales and sub-dimensions of the ECS and SCCS (p < .05). In this study, it was found that intensive care nurses' susceptibility to emotional contagion was high, and that their spiritual care competence was at a moderate level. The results show that gender, marital status, weekly working hours, type of ICU and some approaches about spiritual care are crucial factors in nurses' emotional contagion and spiritual care competence. In addition, as the intensive care nurses' susceptibility to emotional contagion increased, their spiritual care competence also increased., Conclusions: The results of this study will guide the planning of interventions to protect intensive care nurses from the negative effects of emotional contagion and increase their spiritual care competence., Relevance to Clinical Practice: It is necessary to protect intensive care nurses from the negative effects of emotional contagion and to increase their competences in spiritual care., (© 2024 The Author(s). Rational drug use is a pivotal concept linked with morbidity and mortality. Immigration plays a significant role as a determinant affecting individuals' health-related attitudes, behaviors, and the pursuit of health services. Within this context, the study was initiated to assess the factors influencing health literacy and rational drug use among Syrian immigrants in Istanbul. A cross-sectional study was undertaken on 542 Syrian adults utilizing a three-part questionnaire encompassing sociodemographics, rational drug use, and the e-health literacy scale (eHEALS). With an average age of 39.19 ± 13.10 years, a majority of participants believed medications should solely be doctor-prescribed (97%) and opposed keeping antibiotics at home (93.7%). Yet, 62.5% thought excessive herbal medicine use was harmless. The mean eHEALS score stood at 20.57 ± 7.26, and factors like age, marital status, income, and duration of stay in Turkey influenced e-health literacy. Associations were seen between low e-health literacy and being female, being older, having a lower education level, and regular medication use. Syrian immigrants displayed proper knowledge concerning antibiotics yet exhibited gaps in their understanding of general drug usage, treatment adherence, and herbal medicines. Nursing students should be able to assess the health literacy levels of patients and enable patients to understand important health information. No scale has been developed to measure the health literacy knowledge and experience of Turkish nursing students. The Health Literacy Knowledge and Experience Survey-2 (HLKES-2) is a measurement tool with excellent psychometric properties that can be used to assess the health literacy knowledge and experience of nursing students. In this study, we aimed to determine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Health Literacy Knowledge and Experience Survey-2 (HLKES-2-T) among Turkish nursing students. The study sample consisted of 510 undergraduate nursing students. The psychometric properties of the HLKES-2-T were analysed in terms of internal consistency, item-total score correlations, content validity, discriminant validity and known-group comparison. The HLKES-2-T total mean ± SD score was 11.69 ± 3.32. The Kuder–Richardson 20 coefficient of the knowledge subscale of the HLKES-2-T was 0.67, and its item-total score correlations ranged between 0.20 and 0.50. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the experience subscale of the HLKES-2-T was 0.73, and its item-total score correlations ranged between 0.75 and 0.78. The content validity index for the overall HLKES-2-T was 0.98. The HLKES-2-T is thus a reliable and valid tool that can be used to assess the health literacy knowledge and experience levels of Turkish nursing students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effects of web-based education on nursing students' learning of the nursing process. Method: The study was conducted in a nursing faculty. The population of the study consisted of 90 students. The control and implementation groups were determined by drawing lots. The traditional classroom education method was used in the control group for teaching the nursing process. In the implementation group, web-based education was used in addition to traditional classroom education. "Identification Form", "Nursing Process Knowledge Form", "Visual Analog Scale", "Nursing Process Assessment Form" and the software program developed on the web were used to collect data. Means, standard deviation, number, percentile, independent two samples t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, chi-square test and Brunner-Langer test were used in the analysis of the data. Results: The mean age of students was 20.77±2.25 in the implementation group and 20.70±1.35 in the control group. Of the students, 77.3% in the implementation group and 89.1% in the control group were females. According to 63.3% of the students, the nursing education they received was sufficient. The students in the implementation group were satisfied with the education method used in teaching the nursing process (p<0.005) and their nursing process application skill scores were higher than those of the students in the control group. Conclusion: The web-based education positively contributed to nursing students' learning of the nursing process and improved the nursing process application skills of the students in the implementation group at higher levels. The aim of this study was to describe the experiences and practices of nurses providing palliative and end of life care. The study was conducted in the palliative care unit of a territory hospital in Turkey. The sample consisted of 11 nurses who had been working as palliative care nurses for at least one year. The face to face interview method was used to collect data, with a semi-structured in-depth individual interview. 5 main themes and 24 sub-themes were emerged in relation to the experiences and practices of the nurses. The majority of participant nurses pointed that inadequacy in the number of nurses, secondary nursing care activities, refusal of treatment, cultural and ethical problems were barriers in the provision of nursing care. Background: Intensive care units are directly associated with the competency level of nurses and are units where ethical problems are frequently experienced. This research aims to determine the relationship between intensive care nurses' ethical attitudes and holistic competence levels. Methods: This study was conducted as a cross-sectional design using self-report questionnaires distributed to 131 intensive care nurses in Turkey. The data of the study were collected with the "Nurses Information Form," "Holistic Nursing Competence Scale" and "Ethical Attitude Scale for Nursing Care". Results: The total mean score of the Holistic Nursing Competence of the nurses was 6.89±0.95. Holistic Nursing Competence level was significantly lower for those who had experienced less than one year in the profession, and it was higher for those who worked in the emergency intensive care unit and the nurses whose clinics had 21 and above nurses. The total mean score of the nurses' ethics attitude toward nursing care was 59.36±29.09. Ethical Attitude for Nursing Care was significantly lower for those who had a master's degree, and the nurses whose clinics had 21 and above nurses scored higher. There was a weak and negative correlation between the nurses' Holistic Nursing Competence Scale and the total mean score of the Ethical Attitude Scale for Nursing Care. The ethical attitude was predicted in 13.2% of the Holistic Nursing Competence of nurses. Conclusions: It was concluded that nurses' holistic competence levels were high, their ethical attitudes were negative, and there was a weak negative correlation between their holistic competence levels and their ethical attitudes toward care. Researchers aim to examine mediating variable role of health literacy in the relationship between fear of contracting Covid-19 in women and use of holistic complementary alternative medicine. The study was conducted as descriptive cross-sectional. The researchers collected study data by conducting an online questionnaire from 285 women between April 01 and June 30, 2021. In our study, a significant relationship was found between education level and health literacy, having a chronic illness, not being able to find a permanent job and fear of Covid-19 (p < 0.05). Positive correlation exists between fear of contracting Covid-19 and Holistic Complementary and Alternative Medicine Practice (correlation between HCAM Practice β=.21). When health literacy variable is included, the level of relationship decreases (β=.18). Identification of the trend of polypharmacy over the years is as valuable as determining the common definitions for taking precautions. The aim of this systematic review is to reveal the frequency, commonly used definitions and its change over the years of polypharmacy in Turkey. The reporting of this systematic review follows to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA 2020) checklist. The MEDLINE and ULAKBIM TR Dizin databases were searched for relevant studies published until April, 2021. The studies conducted with patients >18 years in Turkey were included. A total of 361 articles were identified and 52 articles met the inclusion criteria. The most common definition of polypharmacy was 'combination of 5 or more drugs', followed by the definitions of 'two or more drugs' to '10 or more drugs"; and its prevalence ranged between 9% and 95% in the studies. It was determined that the most commonly used definition of polypharmacy was 'the use of 5 or more drugs'. The prevalence of polypharmacy in Turkey was appeared in a wide range and found higher than the studies in the literature. The prevalence and trends of polypharmacy over the years should be carefully observed, inappropriate use of medicines should be examined and necessary precautions should be taken accordingly. Citrus is an agricultural product with significant added value in the world. Depending on market demands and causing possible economic losses, disease detection in citrus fruits at an early stage is important as well as for all agricultural products. Therefore, it is critical to detect both early-stage citrus diseases and physically damaged citrus fruits with technological solutions. In this study, a new convolutional neural network (CNN)-based model, CitrusNet, was proposed for the classification of defective and deformed citrus fruits. In this study, 5149 images of citrus fruits were collected from citrus orchards in Antalya, Turkey. In the experiments conducted with four different CNN models, the CitrusNet and ResNet50 models obtained the best classification results. In the other phase of the study, experiments were carried out to detect Alternaria alternata and Thrips diseases, which are common in Turkey, using five different CNN models. In the first phase of the study, a dataset of 3582 images of citrus diseases was obtained. The experimental results show that the YOLOv5 and Mask R-CNN models adequately detected the citrus diseases compared to the other models. This pretest–posttest quasi-experimental study investigated the effect of an educational intervention on nursing students' compassion levels and their attitudes toward death and the care of the dying. Data were collected using the Death Attitude Profile - Revised (DAP-R), the Frommelt Attitude Toward Care Of The Dying (FATCOD) Scale, and the Compassion Scale (CS). The intervention improved participants' DAP-R scores. Participants had higher posttest FATCOD scores than the pretest scores. However, the difference was statistically insignificant. Participants had high CS scores. There was a slight increase in CS scores after the intervention. The results showed that the intervention improved participants' attitudes toward death and the care of the dying. The results also showed that compassion was an important factor. Background: Cigarette pack design plays a crucial role in attracting customers, especially when other marketing methods are limited by policy. University students who engage in casual smoking take the risk of developing an addiction. The objective of this study was to assess the effects of plain packaging (PP) and graphic health warnings (GHWs) on cigarette packages on three outcome variables (negative affect, avoidant responses, and intentions to quit) among ever-smoker university students in Ankara, Turkey, where youth smoking prevalence is high. Methods: An online survey-based experiment was used to collect data. The respondents were randomly assigned to one of the five conditions that contained images of cigarette packs with specific design elements. Regression analyses (n = 623) were used to compare across conditions and to estimate the effects of combined warnings (versus text-only warnings), stronger GHWs (versus old GHWs), and PP (versus branded packages) on the outcome variables, accounting for potential confounders. Results: Stronger GHWs generated more negative affect (0.31 points out of 5, p = 0.010) and avoidant responses (0.42 points out of 5, p = 0.002) than old warnings (when brand logos were visible). Plain packages generated more negative affect (0.48 points out of 5, p < 0.001) and avoidant responses (0.46 points out of 5, p = 0.001) than branded packages (with old warnings). Disentangling the effects of PP and new GHWs revealed that neither had individual differential effect on intentions to quit within 6 months. Conclusions: Although no differential effect of PP or harsher GHWs was found on intentions to quit when respondents were exposed to images on screen, both design elements were found to be effective in generating negative affect and avoidant responses.
