Banks play a very important role in financial markets due to their intermediary function. The availability of financing to businesses and individuals, the prevalence of branches throughout the country as well as the preference status at the collection point as a result of the habits of savings holders, have made deposit banks more active among other financial institutions. Since the banking system affects the whole economy, their performance and their performance evaluation become important. Performance measurement can be defined as one of the most important issues in the financial field. In this study, the relationship between stock return and financial performance of Turkish deposit banks was examined via CRITIC method, TOPSIS method and Spearman's rank correlation analysis for 2014–2018 periods. According to the results of the analysis, there is no statistically significant correlation between the stock return ranking and financial performance rankings of deposit banks in Turkey. Abstract This study aims to investigate the relationships between oil price, consumer confidence and stock return and between gasoline price, consumer confidence and stock return for Turkey and the US by using the Markov Switching Vector Auto Regressive (MS-VAR) method and the Markov Switching-Granger Causality (MS-GC) method. Some studies determined that gasoline prices respond asymmetrically to oil price changes. These variables are included in the study, since they may affect the confidence index in different ways. The study found two different results for Turkey and the US. The first difference is that there is a bidirectional causality between oil price and confidence index in the US in all regimes whilst there is a unidirectional relationship from oil price to confidence index in Turkey. The second difference between the results of the two countries is that although stock return of energy companies interact with confidence index and changes in oil prices in both countries, oil prices and gasoline prices have different causality relationships with confidence index in Turkey. Therefore, gasoline prices along with oil prices should also be included especially in future studies analyzing countries where gasoline price determining is part of the indirect tax policy. Economic policy uncertainty (EPU) has various implications for financial markets. This study examines the effects of EPU on stock prices of listed tourism companies in Turkey for the time period of 2002-2013. We show that EPU in Europe and Turkey has significant negative effects on tourism index returns. The finding reflects that stock returns of the Turkish tourism companies apparently depend on domestic and international economic uncertainty. This paper applies a conditional jump model that was proposed by Chan and Maheu (2002) to examine the stock market dynamics of Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, and Turkey (MIST). We find that the conditional jump intensity parameter estimates are statistically significant and change dramatically between two sample periods. We show that a high probability of jumps today predicts a high probability of jumps in the next period. The impact of a previous shock to the next period's jump intensity is found to be higher in Turkey compared to other MIST countries. Contrary to the previous literature, we discover that after a stock market crash, it is more likely to see a negative jump (drop) again in the stock exchanges of Mexico and Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether inflation and exchange rate have any effect on stock returns using the data of exchange rate, the consumer price index (CPI) and stocks variables for Turkey between the period of 1994:1-2010:12, with econometric analysis methods. In this context, various time series analysis and Granger causality test were applied. According to the results of the analysis, it is concluded that in that period, inflation was very high and positive effect on ISE index, while exchange rates were low and have negative effect in Turkey. This paper investigates the stock price reactions of Turkish soccer clubs to game results, according to match venue and competition type. Betting odds are included to control expectations. The findings indicate that match results of the listed soccer clubs affect abnormal returns, and there is an asymmetric stock market reaction to both wins and losses. The results also indicate that a win in a European Cup does not affect clubs' stock returns. However, a domestic win effect is significantly higher than the effect of a European Cup win. The price reaction of stocks also depends on the type of corporation that the clubs establish when they go public. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
